Video: Dylan Ratigan On Corporate Communism: "$24 Trillion Of National Capital Is Being Sucked Into A Broken Banking System At Our Expense"

Another home run from Ratigan.  We will complete the post later, but the clip is too important to wait until we had the time to do a write-up.  So just enjoy.  Runs 5 minutes.  First 30 seconds are health care, then it's banking and the bail outs.

  • "The beneficiaries of an ongoing $24 trillion taxpayer-funded bailout...$24 trillion dollars."
  • "That is national capital that is being sucked into a broken banking system at the expense of the rest of our country.  They continue to use "Too Big To Fail" as blackmail to the taxpayer in order to get us to provide capital to them."
  • "It is a system that takes resources from the citizenry and redistributes it to a tiny elite."
  • "A handful of weak, un-competitive, outdated companies and industries are purchasing control of the American political system in order to stay in business using their cronyism.
  • "It is coming at the direct expense of the rest of us in this nation.  And it's a total betrayal of everything that represents America."

James wrote (on a previous thread but about this clip): Holy hammer and sickle, Batman! That was awesome. Does Dylan have a security detail? (I sure hope he does.)

************

Same thing I was wondering....ready, aim, fire, direct hit by Ratigan. He's gonna need protection if he doesn't start backing off...

Did you notice by the way in Sorkin's Vanity Fair excerpt that John Mack got on the phone and called Immelt at GE to complain about CNBC?

And there was something else in Sorkin's piece that kind of proves Paulson was lying about Lehman...i'll post about it later...

I'm pretty sure that's the one -- the whole Russian connection and everything. I guess, I SUPPOSE that his heart was in the right place. But it is nice to see that he's finally come to his senses, however. He also (obviously) had never watched Rick Santelli before. It was a great rant, but Rick does that all the damn time.

Presidents have slumbered on its mattresses aboard Air Force One. Dignitaries have slept on them in the Lincoln Bedroom. Its advertisements have featured Henry Ford and H. G. Wells. Eleanor Roosevelt extolled the virtues of the Simmons Beautyrest mattress, and the brand was immortalized on Broadway in Cole Porter’s song “Anything Goes.”

Its recent history has been notable, too, but for a different reason.

Corporate Communism is being generous. The proper moniker is Fascism, as defined by Mussolini:
"State intervention in economic production arises only when private initiative is lacking or insufficient, or when the political interests of the State are involved. This intervention may take the form of control, assistance or direct management."

In the first segment, Dylan's guest suggests a need to get control of it before something bad happens. I think we've reached the point of no return. American's need to do what they do well. Invent and produce. Obama promised to end outsourcing. There were attempts to include legislation in the bailout that would require the banks to employ and contract with American service providers. That piece of the bailout when the same way the bonus controls went when zero interest multi million dollar loan recipient, Senator Chris Dodd, despite a failing memory of his precise action, took that language out of the bill in conference.

Like I said, Americans want to do what they do well. If that option is taken from them, they may very well do what they do best: insurrection. Of all the peoples on the planet, the last mob a false government and it's fascist pimps should choose to anger is 300 Million upset Americans. We invent, we own, we maintain, we live inside this vast infrastructure that feeds the allusion of wealth to the fascist pimps and their whores in our government.

These guys need to get smart - regain their sense of survival - because they're two shakes away from being roasted on a spit.

Cadavre is right, and we have been heading in this direction at least since WW2. It don't matter who is sitting in the seat, the outcome is always the same.

So many smart, inteligent people in US preaches endlesly for decades!!!! about this fenomen. US has been hijacked long time ago - take your country back... and you will also save the World. You will win back the respect you lost long time ago.
Most enslaved are those thinking they are free.Forget mainstream media and Google the news , events and TRUTH history.

Cadavre is correct in calling this for what it really is... fascism. The privatisation of profit and the socialisation of loss is classic fascist economics. Such a system protects the wealth of an elite while pilfering from the less well off.

It is easy for most Americans to relate to the cold war description of "communism" when it applies to our corporations since we are far removed from the actual source of our problem which is fascism or "corporatism" as described by Mussolini. This two headed monster is becoming easy to see as most citizens and more in the mainstream media take notice. As Obama becomes more enmeshed in the quagmire of inaction and failed initiatives the people will have to take action to improve their lot. Just as with Katrina, the government is not coming to our rescue. The US populace is not too big to fail. Only the corrupt politicians and corporations in bed with each other swimming in their dirty money will be protected. All the starving and downtrodden will get a feast of "responsibility" talk and platitudes.

John,

That's a striking metaphor. It hits home on a number of levels.

Corporate? Yes. Communism? Not by a long shot! A lot of people, mostly Americans, throw around the term "communism" for anything government-related they don't like without realizing that the word actually means a utopian system where everyone works for free and gets everything for free, not most people working for almost nothing and the rest getting everything for free. There'd be no such thing as a corporation under communism. They do the same with the term "socialism," which refers to a system where you still work for money and buy things with money but where private corporations aren't even allowed to exist.

Right-wing central planning is what the conservative Republican movement has given us...thank you Ronald Reagan. Can we dig him up and hang him?

John and Tony B,

Great posts.

Our greatest enemy today was Reagan's "freedom fighter", to the tune of 3 billion dollars in aid plus unlimited training in how to combat modern armies. Seems they adhered to the training well...

Michael Moore and Dylan Ratigan must get there terminology straight if they are to influence a broader audience. What More calls "Capitalism," what Ratigan calls "Corporate communism" and what others call "corporatism" or "corporate collectivism" is "mercantilism": favored businesses get subsidies, market monopolies, military support and protective tariffs, quotas, taxes and regulations in exchange for "donations" and pay-off jobs. This along with a strong central government, a central bank, massive construction projects and imperialism were advocated by Alexander Hamiltion and other "Hamiltonians, who were frustrated by the "Jeffersonians." It came to be known as "The American System," which was forcibly imposed on America by President Lincoln after twenty years of being frustrated by southern Democrats in the Senate.

Capitalism functions entirely in a free market without government perversions of it. It is based on "Individualism."

"If there was hope, it must lie in the proles, because only there, in those swarming disregarded masses, eighty-five percent of the population of Oceania, could the force to destroy the Party ever be generated."
- George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 7

No revolution will occur until the welfare, food stamps and unemployment benefits are cut off. Which is why we have the '99ers (for ie) placating the masses with hyperbole and platitudes. And Lindsey Lohan.
