As we've seen, Ron Paul polls better than anyone else.

Ron Paul is a racist. I've have lost respect for Bill Maher and will no longer watch his show or support him. Bottom line: Paul is a racist, wants to repeal the Civil Rights Act, privatize public education, abolish Social Security, kill Medicare, re-establish DADT, eliminate public housing, abolish federal student loans, kill Planned Parenthood, end the Departments of Energy and Education and the EPA, abolish the minimum wage, end affirmative action, disagrees with equal pay for women, and wants to end FEMA. He is a dangerous individual who believes in mixing religion and government. Ron Paul would allow fundamentalist Christians to control the government, the very people who would end the personal liberties he claims to fight for. Ron Paul would destroy every good thing liberals have stood for and fought hard to gain over the last 100 years. Libertarians following Ayn Rand. They are nothing but Republicans who want to smoke pot and have free sex.

Here's a tidy comparison of how the 1% sees the GOP primary contenders versus the view of the 99%:

CNN's Post Debate coverage name drops:

Romney....87 times
Gingrich....82 times
Santorum..76 times
Ron Paul....1 time

CNN's Debate Winner Poll:

Paul..........42%
Romney....29%
Gingrich....18%
Santorum..12%

I think this video explains so much about Dr. Paul and how he is treated in the media. Hard to argue the truth.

That's really funny with the DNC chairman sitting right there eating humble pie. I still don't like Bill Maher, but at least he isn't a mindless, liberal lemming. These days, the Democrats are more like moderate Republicans on economic, security, and foreign issues. And the Republicans are more like Nazis on those issues. The only issues they contrast greatly is on social issues. But mostly, it really all depends on who's financing their re-election campaigns!

Desertvioce--I'll bet you are a freeloader on the welfare system. America is broke. You wait shortly, when the yankee dollar is not the mandatory world's reserve. The dollar will be dumped and you watch the poverty here. Bill Mahers knows what is coming--USa 3rd world country--no-one to buy yankee dollar. I give 4 years--American folks like you will be burning down government buildings

You see Americans, you are the one buttf.... in every consvable way.

Wake up and look around, Scandinavian counrtys have free heathcare, a god welfare system, and so on.
The point is that I dont pay mor tax than you, 33% is standard, dep only on sosial status, and it can be lowered.
And stil we have lesser expences regarding BNP on healthcare, far lesser that USA.
How is that fu.. possible, because of this hyped Private sectore delution.

Education free(exept renting apart and so on).
And thats not all.

Hwo blind and fooled are you not, its obvious for all in Scandinavia that your system is rotten to the core.
We have the same problem, regarding the Privatising hype, a strange notion, when the ideal sitution is that staterunn powersyply sould the people not pay more than the system runns and is maintained, like a state owned Bank.
Basic comodetys sould not be privatised, thats robbing people on something we need.
Its no problem to runn powercomp. when you can plunder the people.
And so on, remeber this "Capitalists", its not Capitalism, its god old fasion robbery, by the ones that have the powwer and money to Invest in this robbing.

Wake up, americans, you are the ones that is dreaming.

@ desertvoice

You forgot:

Abolish the Fed, return to the gold standard and end fiat currency (none of which has historically ever survived, ever), bring the troops home from illegal, "executive branch" wars, eliminate foreign aid, drastically shrink the federal govt, get the gov't out of our private economic and family lives, eliminate debt and only pay for things we can afford, just to name a few you left out...

And, btw, federal student loans are a scam on the taxpayer...what a tool...

Desertvoice, Those are a lot of accusations. Where are your facts? Evidence please. If your complaint is that Paul wants to cut federal government overhead that is NOT authorized in the powers delegated to them in the US Constitution, then you can kindly leave our country now...-> there's the door. Just because FDR was a socialist/fascist scum bag does not mean our nation should ignore the principals and the CONTRACT (US Constitution), upon which this union is founded.

---

Amen...miami of ohio (in your neck of the woods) where my sister and her husband attended now costs $24k per year for in-state students...that's a $100k to get a degree from a decent state school. Sheer madness. My sister attended from '90-93 and she paid less than $30k for the same education.

DB-your sister started at Miami just as my class exited--65 of my HS classmates went there. Very good school, but not sure it, or any school, is worth $100K. We've discussed the college scam here before. I have very strong feelings on this. The lenders make a fortune (see Sallie's CEO and his golf course), the colleges shoot up the costs with little or no blowback b/c they are backed by USam, and the students exit indebted up to their scalp, with little or no chance to pay it back in a reasonably short time. Sound good to you? Carrott on a stick, and SallieMae and the colleges areholding the stick, while USam laughs his fat, lazy ass off...

Re education costs: I went to UNC Law School as an in-state student and was furious that my last semester's tuition, in 1994, was jacked up to $725. Now I'd pay over $11,000 per year. Talk about a bubble.

Student loans are the new subprime. There is no way a great many college students will ever retire the debts they take on, and yet lenders make the loans anyway knowing this.

It's the same story whether it's subprime loans or student loans or sovereign debt: the sophisticated lender demands that the borroower eat 100% of the shit sandwich that came out of the deal--an inequitable (and unrealistic) outcome.

There have been no big time credit writedowns because myrmidons like Geithner dutifully keep failed banks on life support no matter what the social cost.

This situation is untenable and will change.

Makes a good headline, but is a little deceiving, Bill Maher is joking. If you saw last nights show, there was a republican rep from California on decrying that the President was destroying the military with huge cuts. The President is actually cutting their budget by 1%. Our military spending is more than twice that of every country in the world combined. This is a republican election and has nothing to do with Democrats. Blame the corporate media, blame the republican party but don't push it off on the Democrats like you do every thing else. The reason I won't vote for Paul is simple, he will probably do away with medicare and social security and I have already paid into them for over 30 years and I don't expect the government will return my money with interest. We all know the fed is a ponzi scheme but what happens when you audit them and show the rest of the world what it is.

He didn't insult anyone--there was a hint of sarcasm as he said that. Watch it again. And he's agreeing with Ron Paul on only a couple of points, he's not backing the guy overall! I agree with Ron Paul on some points, but I'm definitely not voting for the guy! Please stop with the biased reportage, it's ridiculous.
