Blizzard 2010 Timelapse Video - New Jersey & Minnesota

Video - Belmar, New Jersey

Canon DLSR on tripod with remote timer taking a photo once every five minutes.   Approximately 20 hours in 40 seconds.   Minnesota is inside.

Video - Minnesota - December 10, 2010

On December 10, 2010 at 10:30p it started to snow.  It didn't let up until December 11, 2010 around 5:00p.

By that time more than 20" of snow had fallen.

And then the wind started.

"A thief should sit in jail..."

THE conviction yesterday of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, a former Russian oil tycoon, is a sobering reminder that the Russia of Vladimir Putin is surely a throwback to the bad old days of the totalitarian state. Mr Khodorkovsky has already spent the past seven years in prison for tax evasion and money-laundering; after the new trial (a travesty of justice that has led to public criticism from Hillary Clinton and the EU) more years in prison seem inevitable—enough to keep him in custody well after Russia’s next presidential election, due in 2012.

"throwback to the bad old days of the totalitarian state" U foolish silly boy! shows your hatred towards Russians.I'll bet $100 bucks that URJewish!
Notice something about America's Politicians--they made USA a mess(most likely (ereverseable),Not one GOVERNMENT appointed money changer has gone to prison.Take the lies of invading Iraq--did anyone go to jail? NOPE!
Question: did anyone go to jail that allowed 9/II attacks to happen or the cover-up of Israel Firsters?

I have seen this much snow come down in Montana and Wyoming. That's why in wintertime we all put little red rubber balls on the tips of our radio antenias....so we can see where the heck they are under the snowdrifts. :)
Most streets are not snowplowed either.
Since most everyone has 4-wheel drive, those without the 4-wheel drive just wait until later in the day until all the ones with 4-wheel drive have drove all over town. Then we just drive on the packed snow streets just fine. Most everyone has chains too. We help each other when we get stuck and farmers and ranchers are fine with helping you out of the ditches with their tractors.....for free usually. Thats called being self-sufficiant AND being a good neighbor.
As to all that white stuff coming down...we call it "Winter" and not "A mini-ice-age." .

"I have seen this much snow come down in Montana and Wyoming."

@ Maryline it's the same in the Colorado High Country.
If your riding with a local Native and the truck starts sliding off the road, they'll downshift as they hand you their beer and tell you to (watch this and hang on!). Most local Natives can drive 65 miles per hour through 13 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without even flinching. To us the four seasons are "almost winter, winter, still winter and spring blizzards. Up here we say April showers bring May blizzards. Course it can warm up in August, we always hope if summer comes on a weekend maybe we can get a days fishing in without having to chop a hole in the ice. Chains, a Handyman Jack, food, water, and blankets or sleeping bags are standard driving accessories when you head to Gunnison for groceries. Yep it's a privilege to live in Colorado.

P.S. Thanks for the red rubber ball tip. Bought one of them little foreign cars last year and couldn't find it for months.

I always loved your State Sagebrush, I put in some time up in Fort Collins/ Greely area years ago, still have pictures somewhere of us up in the Rockies in August with snow still on the ground on our Harleys.

Your welcome for the red rubber ball tip. It's pretty standard where I grew up. ;)
Another handy tip is...always have a strong rope tied from the backporch to the barn so if the blizzard turns into a white-out you can still find your way back inside the house...or to the barn if its time to feed the critters. Other wise you might end up in the south pasture or something where they wont find you until spring.

Yo Gompers,
Glad you like it out here, although you wouldn't like it today if you were on your Harley.
Temperature is five below, the wind is blowing like hell and the wind chill is probably twenty five below. BRRRRRR
