The CNBC Money Dummy: Maria Bartiromo Asks 44 Year-Old Guest Why He's Not On Medicare

Not wanting to be out-done by the senior who famously told his representative to 'keep the government out of his medicare', yesterday Maria Bartiromo asked a mid-forties Congressman "if Medicare is so great, why aren't you on it?"

Let that sink in. Remember, she is marketed as one of the smart ones by CNBC.  After the Congressman explains that he's not 65, the Money Dummy still doesn't get it. The clip runs less than a minute.

From the Huffington Post:

Earlier today, MSNBC's Carlos Watson hosted Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and CNBC anchor Maria Bartiromo for a discussion on health care.

At one point, Bartiromo was critical of the government-managed health care system in the United Kingdom. "How do I know the quality [of health care in the United States] is not going to suffer" with a public option? she asked.

Rep. Weiner reminded her that there already is government-managed health care in the United States -- namely, Medicare, the system created for Americans 65 years and older -- and that patients with Medicare report very high satisfaction rates.

Bartiromo's response to this argument was a true head-scratcher. In a mocking tone, she pressed the congressman: "How come you don't use it [Medicare]? You don't have it. How come you don't have it?"

Rep. Weiner, who turns 45 this week, tried to walk Bartiromo through it. "Because I'm not 65." But she was insistent. "Yeah... c'mon!" she exclaimed, laughing incredulously.

This dumbass phenomenon with regard to public policy is hardly new:

" Q -- (I need to) really understand how is it the new plan [privatizing Social Security] is going to fix that problem?

DUMBASS: Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to what has been promised.

Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red.

Okay, better? I'll keep working on it. (Laughter.)"

every time i see a piece from CNBC, with any of the large group of utterly biased, unprofessional, unqualified, dummies they have on daily, i have to wonder why Bloomberg doen't make their broadcast available to The Public as an equal choice vs CNBC.
I think you know what I mean. I get CNBC w/o having a Box, and with a Box it comes with Basic Service. I can only view Bloomberg if I subscribe to the higher cost premium service, and I'm in NJ, a State with a very high population per square mile. Does anyone know why Bloomberg hasn't made this move? The Public misses out. Bloomberg is exactly what Financial reporting should be, and 24 hours.

Until now, I have refrained from bashing Maria B out of respect for Dylan Ratigan, who seemed genuinely fond of her, for reasons I can not fathom. She will soon be inroduced to the business end of my poison pen. Fortunately for her, I can not actually stomach watching her.

Yeah, Medicare and Medicaid are great plans... except there's just a little multi-trillion dollar funding problem. WTF? Since when did an unlimited govt. credit card become worthy of the name "plan"? The flat-earthers are out in force on the govt-funded medicine issue. Both sides, admittedly. Money Dummy, meet Congress Dummy. Maybe you can teach each other to count.

Daily...more Palin dirt...go to town!

I know, there are reasons why you will post the Palin dirt and ignore the Obama dirt...you and about five people here understand. Good enough for government work.

Can't wait...

Gobias, Whatever does Levi Johnston have to do with bailouts?

I am wondering who the dummy is here.....It seems pretty obvious that Maria is asking the Congressman why he doesn't vote to put himself and other representatives on it, since it is so great. That is what "Why aren't you on it ?" is about-- not what you are pretending she is asking.

Of course, when you pick up your BS from Huffington, critical analysis of any situation is clearly not your strength.

For the 1,000th time since I launched the site, let me say that I'll grab news from anywhere that makes me laugh...the HuffPo just happens to do a good job with political and financial comedy...

Yes, Daily is pretty easy to figure out. Daily lives in one of those funhouses with all the mirrors, he doesn't see what we see. Early on, he was much better about hiding his biases. Now he just tries to explain them away again and again and again as he likes to point out. Liberals are very emotional and their humor is always very shallow, they are also great at throwing stones in their glass houses. Yes, they are great fun. It is like a zoo, take pictures and enjoy their social interactions, just don’t feed them. Daily, you are so clever but you are only fooling the fools. Okay, delete what you want. Ask him why his humor dries up when it has to do with Barry Soetoro. What fun. Be a good communist and remove this if you like Daily.

Gobias,

Good to see you still sitting on the river bank, I was concerned your masters would have found your failures to be decisive to your fate.

You truly are in a privileged place with your captors...

"Free Speech, Free Gobias", rule four does not apply to those who seek to destroy the Constitution. Unless fools are playing the game...

Only fools believe all this has occurred since Jan. 20, 2009.

She's not a Bad person like JUDGE JUDY, NANCY DISGRACE, MICHELLE BACHMAN, ANN KOLTERGEIST!
She probably has a good mind!
But that financial program looks more like JERRY SPRINGER, MAURY, HOWARD STERN, and FOX NOISE than a Information program!
She's Been hanging out with the wrong CROWD!
I'll Bet, If she worked at BLOOMBERG, she would have known that long ago!
But it's hard to "HEAR" Impossible to "LEARN, THROUGH ALL THAT "NOISE".
