“The American way of life is dependent upon a vibrant economy, the existence of which is based upon a skilled work force, innovation and a world-class critical infrastructure. Much of this critical infrastructure is vulnerable to attack, catastrophic weather events and obsolescence and deterioration. Immediate national security, preparedness and economic needs require an equally strong domestic manufacturing base which, for many reasons, has eroded over the years.”
That kind of shit will never cease to piss me off.
Earlier this year I was flying into LaGuardia when the plane went by old Shea Stadium, where the Mets used to play. But no more. No sir. Since 2009, when the banks were most visibly on life support, the Mets found a new home across the street--at Citi Field.
With several Wild Turkeys under my belt, the tirade was as inevitable, I suppose, as the flight attendants' threat of arrest if I didn't pipe down.
I've pushed my luck with the airlines past the breaking point as it is, I thought. Aside from getting kicked off of five flights, and being threatened with arrest on at least three more that I can remember, there was yet another incident with a TSA agent whose gullibility really saved my ass once:

Anyhow, I shut up.
I was still pissed, though, and this GM outrage isn't helping any.
Looks like those folks south of the boarder are smarter then those idiots in Washington.

Great story. I totally forgot about your being a scientist, in addition to being a Wild Turkey aficionado.
