MUST SEE: Irish Protestors Occupy Ministry Of Finance In Massive Anti-Bank Bailout Show Of Force (VIDEO)

Watch:  Angry Irish protestors flood the streets, lay siege to the Ministry of Finance - Nov. 3, 2010

--

By Dr. Pitchfork

Ireland's bank bailouts have cost them 55% of GDP, and cancer patients, students and everyone else have taken a back seat to reckless bank bondholders.

Plus, Ireland doesn't have its own central bank, so they can't bail out their banks through "quantitative easing" the way Bernanke can here.   Instead, locked into the de facto (fool's) gold standard of the Euro, the answer is austerity, austerity, austerity.  And the Irish are rightly pissed off.

But can someone please explain to me why Irish socialists have a better handle on bank bailouts than the ostensibly capitalist Tea Party?  In the clip above, Irish protesters jam Merrion Row and Baggot St. and briefly occupy the Department of Finance / An Roinn Airgeadais.  It's awesome.

I love the Tea Party, but if they really knew what they were doing they'd be occupying this building at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave:

U.S. Treasury, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave.

Dr. Pepper writes..."But can someone please explain to me why Irish socialists have a better handle on bank bailouts than the ostensibly capitalist Tea Party?"

Are you suggesting that the Tea Party would be doing a better job if it said the hell with the elections and peaceful gatherings and instead stormed the Bastille? Really Dr. Pepper, what would Katie Couric think of your baffling question? Would you be part of the mob?

p.s. The eventual answer here is also austerity, how the heck do you think Bernanke and the Banking Cartel will be paid back plus interest.

Really Dr. P, how close do you think the Tea Party could get to “that building”? I know you love the Tea Party (like DB) but you say Tea Party like the rest of us know which Tea Partiers you love and which ones you would hang out to dry. You just can’t have it both ways.

Great write-up on the Irish situation from an Icelandic perspective.

Sigrún Davíðsdóttir is a journalist from Iceland who started blogging about the banking crisis. Her blog is called Icelog. Pretty good stuff from what I've seen so far.

Dr. Pepper…

You should have pointed out that your question was rhetorical or just not worth defending.
