CHART - Inflation Adjusted Gold Price (1970-2011)

We still have a long way before we catch up with the 1979 inflation adjusted highs.

Since Nixon's move, the U.S. dollar has fallen from 1/35th of an ounce of gold to 1/1750th of an ounce of gold today.

This is one reason why gold is not in a bubble. It's just now starting to catch up. And if you consider that even old CPI may not actually consider all the money creation in the past few decades, you can argue that inflated gold price is closer to $5000 an ounce.
