Bill Clinton: "Respect The Tea Party" (VIDEO)

Interesting short clip.  Transcribed inside.

You already know my thoughts.  Clinton is wrong about the power of the Federal government, but he's one of the first Democrats politically astute enough to show respect for the anger driving the tea movement.  If Democrats were willing to cut spending and end the stimulus, they would have tea party allies and not enemies.

But they would also lose 50% of their government teet-sucking base overnight.

Note:  Republicans love government too.  And if they don't cut spending dramatically when they knock off Obama in 2012, you can expect the tea party to explode into revolution.

Clinton:

"There are a lot of real people in this Tea Party movement that are saying something everyone should hear, which is “seems like everyone but average Americans are doing all right here. The people that caused the financial crisis are all back in great shape,” (and its true that the banks have 1.8 trillion dollars in uncommitted cash reserves.) “The government is in pretty good shape – the people who work for the government have good jobs, health care and can pay their mortgages and can send their kids to college. What about us?”

"The problem is that if you look at the financial energy behind the Tea Party movement, its not about restricting abuse of big public and private power, its about destroying the role of government in our life so that private centers of power will be untrammeled, and I don’t think that’s good for average Americans."

Left unsaid by Bill Clinton is that defaulting homeowners are doing fine too, along with illegal immigrants. Everyone's fine but the people who work, struggle, worry, and pay. They feel like suckers right now, which is a condition that won't last indefinitely.

Clinton's political ear is tone-perfect. His economic ear, not so much.

Backhanded Compliments…

Why is it always “anger” at the wheel of the Tea Party? I think it is vindication regarding Obama, an understanding that the left is going in the wrong direction and a good sense of right and wrong. Hmmm, is anger just easier to understand as a motivation for the left? Sarah Palin wasn’t driven by anger and contempt, that describes BHO (and the wife) and Katie Couric to name a few.

As for Billary, it was only talking the truth at the end of its campaign against Obama. Really, who gives a shit what Billlary is saying unless it decides to run in 2012. Respect the Tea Party is complete b.s. The left is quick to make the Tea Party a one issue group which is not the case. The Tea Party is made up of many different groups, this site of all sites should be fully aware of that as the Ron Paul faction is the end all be all and little else matters. The Tea Party conservatives, the ones that believe in God, guns, the Constitution, state rights, liberty and the American way don’t get much recognition let alone much respect.

What the point of the rest of what Billary is saying about the movement…"The problem is that if you look at the financial energy behind the Tea Party movement, it’s not about restricting abuse of big public and private power, it’s about destroying the role of government in our life so that private centers of power will be untrammeled, and I don’t think that’s good for average Americans."

That is the biggest and saddest copout ever. That statement does demonstrate that he knows what it is about, just the opposite of what he said. What gets top billing around he baffles me to my core. Billary grabbed its ankles and bowed down to BHO. If Billary had any decency, it would have told Obama to shove it up his ass and wait until they could strike again in 2012. Billary should have met Sarah Palin for coffee as Sarah suggested.

z...i didn't agree with most of what clinton said either...that's why i said so in the post above...but it was the first bit of conciliatory rhetoric toward the tea party that i've heard from any democrat...no bs about racism...etc...

i look for things out of the ordinary to post...like the chris matthews clip you left in comments earlier...i'm not a fan of chris matthews but to me it's interesting when he criticizes obama...so i'll be posting it...

Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas was home to the Dallas Cowboys since 1971. There, Ring of Honor just outside the stadium to pay tribute to those who have made outstanding contributions to the organization. former coaches, players and officials were introduced, and in honor of Ring of Honor. There are currently 17 winners. These legends of the NFL deserve recognition they receive, and there is no better way than their honor wearing Dallas Cowboys jerseys.Wellcome to:
