The funny thing about this video is the truth that lies beneath it--which is an essential element in all great satire. At this point, the republican party WOULD do better with the zombie of a well-loved past leader than they are doing now. They are weak enough in their current message as to require some charismatic personality to lead them. That's why they love Palin. They also had high hopes for Micheal Steele (he's handsome, plus the resonance of his name alone should have propelled him to a certain degree of success), but he's somewhat of a letdown. They are grasping at straws for lack of substance and unity.

Reagan was a paradox. No one can deny he was magnetic, warm, funny, 'patriotic' (whatever that means, I guess), and that rarity, a natural born leader--the kind of guy people are drawn to admire. But as Gompers pointed out, he did not always stand up for honor and justice, AND he presided over the greatest increase in the size and scope of government in our history (up until that time)--all while charming the socks off the world with his talk of small government. In many ways he was the most dangerous type of leader.
