Irish Politicans are very good at this sort of non-answer or non-sense (kinda hypnotic...!).

Bertie Ahern when told by G.W.Bush "You're either with the terrorists, or you're with us" answered "Yes!" and smiled.... Bush said "Fine! Now we can do business!" or words to that effect, but never questioned Bertie.. Bertie was mindful of the Auld IRA in Ireland, who'd have been a bit miffed, to say the least..
