TIME TO CALL NANCY @ 202-225-4965: Pelosi's New Tactic -- House may try to pass Senate health care bill without voting on it

Forget reconciliation.  Pelosi doesn't have enough votes for that bit of malfeasance.  The latest procedural scam to help pass a health bill that neither Conservatives nor Liberals support (nor the American people), is the self-executing rule.  And get this: Nancy prefers this option because it will allow members to support the legislation without actually voting for it.

This is not a fu*king joke.  It's an abomination.  Nothing less than a direct assault on our Democratic process.  Help us make her life miserable by calling her office and telling her legislative aides exactly how you feel.  Share this story with friends and ask them to call.  Give 5 minutes of your time and pass it on.

UPDATE:  Deem And Pass Strategy Rendered Useless By Right-Wing Noise Machine

---

Video:  "We have to pass the health bill so that you can find out what's in it"

---

From the Washington Post

After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate's health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the health-care bill to be passed.

The tactic -- known as a "self-executing rule" or a "deem and pass" -- has been commonly used, although never to pass legislation as momentous as the $875 billion health-care bill. It is one of three options that Pelosi said she is considering for a late-week House vote, but she added that she prefers it because it would politically protect lawmakers who are reluctant to publicly support the measure.

"It's more insider and process-oriented than most people want to know," the speaker said in a roundtable discussion with bloggers Monday. "But I like it," she said, "because people don't have to vote on the Senate bill."

Republicans quickly condemned the strategy, framing it as an effort to avoid responsibility for passing the legislation, and some suggested that Pelosi's plan would be unconstitutional.

"It's very painful and troubling to see the gymnastics through which they are going to avoid accountability," Rep. David Dreier (Calif.), the senior Republican on the House Rules Committee, told reporters. "And I hope very much that, at the end of the day, that if we are going to have a vote, we will have a clean up-or-down vote that will allow the American people to see who is supporting this Senate bill and who is not supporting this Senate bill."

House leaders have worked for days to round up support for the legislation, but the Senate measure has drawn fierce opposition from a broad spectrum of members. Antiabortion Democrats say it would permit federal funding for abortion, liberals oppose its tax on high-cost insurance plans, and Republicans say the measure overreaches and is too expensive.

Some senior lawmakers have acknowledged in recent days that Democrats lack the votes for passage. Pelosi, however, predicted Monday that she would deliver.

"When we have a bill, then we will let you know about the votes. But when we bring the bill to the floor, we will have the votes," she told reporters.

Pelosi said Monday that House Democrats have yet to decide how to approach the vote. But she added that any strategy involving a separate vote on the Senate bill "isn't too popular," and aides said the leadership is likely to bow to the wishes of its rank and file.

I hope that it includes A LOT of obscene language, course speech and vindictive innuendo. In fact I hope it's BASED EXCLUSIVELY on the aforementioned. Anything OTHER than that (i.e. logic, appeals to reason or to constitutional rule of law) would be WASTED on this airheaded dipshit of an old hag.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GOVERNMENT GETS INVOLVED...PRICES GO UP, WAY UP!!!!!!

Fighter jet contract goes down
Tuesday, 16 March 2010 11:37 RC News

The Joint Strike Fighter saga has apparently come to an end after several years of negotiations with the US government

After a week where it was announced there would be yet another price increase for potential buyers, the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is no longer being considered by the Danish Defence Command as a replacement for its aging F-16s war planes, reports public broadcaster DR.

Since negotiations for purchasing the planes began in 1999 between Denmark and US Department of Defense – which has been heavily involved in the development of the Lockheed Martin jet – the cost of a single plane has risen from around 275 million kroner to 540 million.

The JSF project has been plagued with problems since its inception. The original release date for the plane was set for 2012, although now US officials say the jet will not be ready until 2016. In addition, the project took a major hit last month when the man heading it was fired by US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates, due to the jet’s continued development delays.

Despite having invested considerably in the JSF project – with several companies securing eventual work contracts for the planes should they have been purchased – the Danish government is now leaning toward Boeing’s F-18 Superhornet as its preferred choice.

In April last year, Boeing promised to ensure orders worth up to 20 billion kroner for Danish companies if the military purchased the company’s Superhornet model.

A decision on which jet will replace the F-16s is expected to be made by parliament some time in 2012.

"I will not comply. If the government tries to make me comply, I’ll sue. And I’ll win.
...
The president and his allies may claim otherwise, but that won’t change the reality of the situation. If they command the rest of us to pretend they have passed the bill, I will not comply.

You shouldn’t, either."

Like I told my Congressman 4 months ago:

"You don't listen to us, you don't care what we think, and now you think you have the authority to tell us how to spend our health care dollars. I cannot be more clear: you have no such authority. You can pass un-Constitutional health insurance mandates till you're blue in the face, but I'm opting out of Obamacare."

Well said & done JamesH!

But you know what? Our congressmen don't give a sh...oe. (LOL, I almost said SHIT by mistake). This fact was openly PROVEN when an OVERWHELMING 90% (PLUS!) of Americans wrote their representatives in frank OPPOSITION to the first wave of the bailouts. Remember? And although that MASSIVE outpouring of public sentiment left NO DOUBT about our desire to REFUSE to bail out these thieves and scoundrels, our representatives voted to do so anyway.

The moment that happened it served to PROVE at least ONE THING: all ties & connections between the average American constituency and its elected leaders have been either hijacked or severed. We no longer hold any sway over our government's actions. Our government has effectively taken-on a life of its own, and the rest of us will be barely included in the new plan. You know that part in the pirate movies where they divide the spoils?

OK, WE'RE the spoils in this movie.

Pucker-up too and get ready for MORE, because now that the SCOTUS has increased corporations' powers as "individuals" things can only get WORSE.

Code Red Moves Cardoza and Costa to “Yes” Votes on Gov’t Healthcare Takeover After Water Deal
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is this Another Backroom Deal to Force Obama’s Bill Down the American People’s Throats?

As a vote approaches on Obama and Pelosi’s government takeover of healthcare, Code Red is now considering two supposedly “undecided” California Democrats, Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa, to now be “yes” votes.

The U.S. Department of Interior announced yesterday that it is increasing water allocations for the Central Valley of California, a region that depends on these water allocations to support local agriculture and jobs. The region has recently been starved for water and as a result unemployment has soared. Not surprisingly, Cardoza and Costa had a hand in the announcement:

“Typically, Reclamation would release the March allocation update around March 22nd, but moved up the announcement at the urging of Senators Feinstein and Boxer, and Congressmen Costa and Cardoza.”(“Interior Announces Increased Water Supply Allocations in California,” U.S. Department of Interior news release, 3/16/10)

Will Cardoza and Costa come clean about this apparent backroom deal for their votes?

KUHNER: Impeach the president?

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/19/impeach-the-president/

The Democrats are assaulting the very pillars of our democracy. As the debate on Obamacare reaches the long, painful end, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is confronting a political nightmare. She may not have the 216 votes necessary to pass the Senate's health care bill in the House.

Hence, Mrs. Pelosi and her congressional Democratic allies are seriously considering using a procedural ruse to circumvent the traditional constitutional process. Led by Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, New York Democrat and chairman of the House Rules Committee, the new plan - called the "Slaughter Solution" - is not to pass the Senate version on an up-or-down vote. Rather, it is to have the House "deem" that the legislation was passed and then have members vote directly on a series of "sidecar" amendments to fix the things it does not like.

This would enable House Democrats to avoid going on the record voting for provisions in the Senate bill - the "Cornhusker Kickback," the "Louisiana Purchase," the tax on high-cost so-called "Cadillac" insurance plans - that are reviled by the public or labor-union bosses. If the reconciliation fixes pass, the House can send the Senate bill to President Obama for his signature without ever having had a formal up-or-down vote on the underlying legislation.

Time line Nov 2010 -2011

The violence will begin as gangs and rioters vs. cops, but will then progress to a racial thing, as people try to defend civilized areas from thugs.

Eventually, localities will reorganize to ethnic boundaries, and local police forces will defend their enclaves. In areas where the enclave is effectively the entire state, the states may begin to talk about secession.

This is what I predict for USA Republic inhabitants

Mean Street: America’s Coming Civil Unrest?
http://blogs.wsj.com/deals/2010/03/08/mean-street-americas-coming-civil-unrest/

The USA One Year from Now – September 2010

Introduction – This is a look at things that may very well come to pass in the USA. It is impossible to see the future but educated guesses are of course possible and may or may not come true. No one can predict with certainty what is going to happen. Take a look.

Job Losses – The jobs lost each month continue to be substantial. 85% of all new jobs created are non-productive jobs as in government. The printing presses keep rolling and government jobs are created. Not any real addition to the economy, just a prolonging of the inevitable. Businesses keep closing.

Retail – Malls are ghost towns. Many are closed. The ones remaining open have numerous vacancies. Parking spots right by the entrance in the rain come easy. There are few shoppers inside and even fewer carrying packages. Sales are abundant. Going out of business clearance sales are out there. People will be thinking of new uses for malls since the retailers are not bouncing back.

Fast Food – They were starting to advertise the $1.00 loss leader meals in 2009. They were unable to survive using this as a marketing model. They promoted large portions at a low price. People were tempted to go load up on junk food to fight being hungry not knowing how toxic this food really is. The fast food retail outlets are now starting to close. They gave up on the policy of offering cheap food to survive until the economy turned around. The people came in to the stores and bought the cheap food on special having no excess funds to spend on point of sale splurges or specials. Now the once considered easy to get jobs in fast food are cherished as scarce and the wages paid are being cut back due to more workers available than jobs. The locations doing the best are staying open.

Some independent operators able to offer cheap low quality food are taking over the former chain fast food restaurant locations and are able to sell cheap meals. They have no advertising, no corporate drain and do not have to buy any products from the home office. They rely on drive by and walk by traffic. They keep open longer hours with the chains being forced to close earlier and open later to reduce overhead. These independents are not raking in great profits but the people owning them are buying themselves a job with long hours but it beats not having anything. The chains will suffer from this since the independents can offer more value for the money.

Auto Industry – Sales are awful. The dealers are extending credit but it is getting tighter. They were extending credit and writing worthless paper they were selling on Wall Street with a high yield but this paper has been going bad and is not easy to sell anymore. This forced them to tighten lending criteria forcing more buyers out of the new car market. This also increased demand for used cars. Auto repairs are booming as people keep their cars longer. Auto parts are also booming. Body shops do bad as people prefer to keep their insurance checks rather than fix their cars.

People run behind on auto insurance and they keep canceling policies in wholesale quantities. In many states this creates criminals out of people who need to drive to work but cannot pay their auto insurance. When they get caught they get fined, get restricted licenses, lose their freedom, lose their cars etc. This makes the problems worse. More and more people are behind on their car payments and are ducking repossession. People swap cars with their friends and relatives so the repossession agents cannot find the cars.

Gas Prices – The Middle East tensions have caused gas prices to spike. The declining dollar and Middle East tensions have driven USA gas prices to $6.00 a gallon at the pump. People cannot afford to drive to work at their low paying jobs. There is no remedy for this in sight. Now expenses are forcing people out of work.

Medical – The new health care system has taken a toll on doctors. Doctors have had to put up with the DEA, FDA, State Medical Regulators, Insurance Companies, Lawyers and now the severely reduced payouts from the new insurance plan have caused many doctors to quit. Some just flat out retire early. Others leave the country going to other countries where they find they can get a medical license fairly easy. They soon learn they can practice medicine freely without government interference and the lawyers rarely if ever get an opportunity to sue them for malpractice. The doctors being adept students learn the foreign languages fast. Then Doctors from third or four world countries come to the USA to practice.

Standards are lowered and they get licensed easily. Coming from a country where they were making $600 to $1500 a month as a doctor, the thought of making $5,000 to $7,000 a month under the new health care plan is intoxicating to them. The USA doctors leaving were used to making $20,000 to $50,000 a month and were not going to work for lower wages. They find that in other countries they can earn $100,000 to $150,000 a year but their malpractice insurance is nothing compared to US, their housing costs are lower, the private schools are bilingual and way superior to the USA, and their freedom and quality of life is much higher.

Many hospitals have gone out of business due to reduced payouts. Health care is still handed out freely to illegal aliens who continue to rape the US taxpayers for all they can get and they have the full support of Obama. Pharmaceuticals are expensive. Doctors prescribe more and more of the cheaper older drugs out of financial necessity.

Euthanasia thinly disguised as denial of future benefits is in play. No more spending money on people terminally ill. They lose the last few months or years of their life to cut medical expenses. The rich just pay their own expenses and continue treatment as now.

Freedom – This is only a memory. Now they have a no drive list one has to clear when crossing state lines. Visas are required to leave the USA. One must show roots in family and assets before they will let you leave the country. They want to feel confident that you will leave. The prisons are full and overflowing. Health care in prison is close to non-existent. The food served to inmates is cheap garbage and quantities are restricted. No more overweight inmates. Prisoners are forced to work or are punished. The work offsets prison costs and is a source of cheap labor, which has grown to significant numbers.

Starting industries using prison labor to manufacture and assemble products has become the new rage. The complexity of the work has to be kept to a minimum but it is still profitable. Public companies doing this are starting IPO’s and hitting big. Prisoners get paid so little these companies can compete on the world market. Remember they are also paying the inmates with cheap US dollars. Prison labor is comparable in cost to slave labor and in many ways the same thing only harsher. People get harsh prison sentences for any infraction against any government. Crimes against other persons tend to be lightly investigated but punishments are stiff for these crimes too. Building new prisons is another booming industry. The government realized that a prison workforce provides productive jobs and it even creates non-productive jobs like correction officers.

Courts – The insane civil litigation cases are continuing. The judges needing work let them go on. The rich use the corrupt civil litigation system to exploit those with less money. The Federal Criminal Courts have gone from a conviction rate of 87% to 98%. Many Federal Districts have conviction rates of 100%. When charged with Federal crimes people just negotiate for the best sentence they can get. Many were not even aware of the crime they were charged with. Criminal attorneys are so ineffective people stop using them considering them a waste of money. Judges stopped following the law and just do what they want. Since the population is mostly poor many lawyers are out of work.

Law Enforcement – The police state rolls on. Taser use and abuse is widespread. Police commit brutality on camera and nothing seems to happen to them. Police have now started to steal from people in traffic stops and when investigating crimes in homes and businesses. Giving such unchecked power to police always results in this. The police always think they are able to control themselves in a responsible fashion. Complaining to internal affairs is pointless and can result in retaliations. Fear of police is at an all time high. Police drug and alcohol abuse has reached unprecedented proportions.

The police and the criminal gangs are becoming closer and closer soon to merge like they did in Mexico. Police spend the majority of their time on crimes against the government. Things like expired car tags, firearm licensing violations, drug violations, building permit violations, are high on their list of priorities. The police have little time for violent crime like rape, assault, armed robbery etc. They still take reports but the case clearance rates are under 10%. People know that if they do not get caught at the scene of the crime they are probably going to get away with the crime. Child and family services have gotten awful. Children are taken away from their parents at the drop of a hat. Any complaint by anyone is believed and investigated even anonymous tips by email. The judges let this go on not wanting to create any enemies in government. The state agencies have figured out ways to generate profits from taking children away from families.

Roadblocks in many areas are common. Police grill citizens for something to do. It establishes their power and conditions the people. Protestations regarding the constitution are likely to result in taser use and confiscation of the vehicle. The police only care about other police and government officials. There is a them and you attitude instilled in them. The tail is wagging the dog. The real estate is the United States but it is not the United States.

Riots – They are starting to be more common. Usually they occur in the poor residential areas. They are well tolerated by the government. They pose no risk to the government, just the locals and the retailers in the area. The police get a chance to test their latest crowd control weapons on a live audience and this is invaluable to the government. They get to fill up their prisons with more workers. The riots also serve to condition the police, in other words make them harder on their fellow citizens because rioters can truly hurt the police. The riots serve to assist the police state in the long run.

Citizen Resistance – There is not much of this. Occasionally a person goes nuts and takes out a few police or low government workers. These people are never a threat to the government. They explode spontaneously and act on their own. Most of the people really opposed to the government left already seeing the writing on the wall. Those remaining trusted in the government and believed the promises of the politicians. Bet they won’t do that again if they ever have a chance to make that decision again. When a police state gets empowered they a lays leave the door open for those who understand the game with some assets to leave. They want the potential troublemakers to go away and live elsewhere. They want the people who trust and believe in them to stay for obvious reasons. After a while when the cat is out of the bag so to speak they then lock down the country to stop a mass exodus and large capital flight. They also worry about a labor drain. In this regard they may start to focus on incarcerating more educated and skilled people so as to be able to manufacture more sophisticated products. Don’t underestimate the extent they will go to. Think this is not real, go read the constitution and then say that.

Gun Control – The government is still trying to get the people to turn in their guns based on some legislation. The states asserting their rights are trying to fight this out in the Federal Courts. That will go nowhere. The police state rolls on with great progress in spite of the gun ownership.

Wars – The US continues to fight the oil wars and play the policeman of the world. Nations pay less and less attention to them. Their influence gets less and less each year. They have fewer and fewer allies.

Conclusion – This is a guess as to the way things may go. Only time will tell.

Revealed: Ashcroft, Tenet, Rumsfeld Warned 9/11 Commission About 'Line' It 'Should Not Cross'
Monday, 22 March 2010

The Raw Story

Senior Bush administration officials sternly cautioned the 9/11 Commission against probing too deeply into the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, according to a document recently obtained by the ACLU.

The notification came in a letter dated January 6, 2004, addressed by Attorney General John Ashcroft, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and CIA Director George J. Tenet. The ACLU described it as a fax sent by David Addington, then-counsel to former vice president Dick Cheney.

In the message, the officials denied the bipartisan commission's request to question terrorist detainees, informing its two senior-most members that doing so would "cross" a "line" and obstruct the administration's ability to protect the nation.

"In response to the Commission's expansive requests for access to secrets, the executive branch has provided such access in full cooperation," the letter read. "There is, however, a line that the Commission should not cross -- the line separating the Commission's proper inquiry into the September 11, 2001 attacks from interference with the Government's ability to safeguard the national security, including protection of Americans from future terrorist attacks."

The 9/11 Commission, officially called the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, was formed by President Bush in November of 2002 "to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks" and to offer recommendations for preventing future attacks.

"The Commission staff's proposed participation in questioning of detainees would cross that line," the letter continued. "As the officers of the United States responsible for the law enforcement, defense and intelligence functions of the Government, we urge your Commission not to further pursue the proposed request to participate in the questioning of detainees."

FireDogLake's Marcy Wheeler speculates that this was an attempt by the Bush administration to ensure that its torture of certain detainees, which has since been widely documented, remained secret.

"[W]hoever made these annotations appears to have been most worried that Commission staff members could make independent judgments about the detainees and the interrogations," Wheeler wrote on her blog. The official "didn't want anyone to independently evaluate the interrogations conducted in the torture program."

Eventually, the commission's co-chairs harshly criticized the administration for having purportedly "destroyed" tapes of its interrogations with terror suspects, as Raw Story reported last year:

“9/11 Commission members Thomas Kean and Lee H. Hamilton wrote that although US President George W. Bush had ordered all executive branch agencies to cooperate with the probe, "recent revelations that the CIA destroyed videotaped interrogations of Qaeda operatives leads us to conclude that the agency failed to respond to our lawful requests for information about the 9/11 plot."

"Those who knew about those videotapes — and did not tell us about them — obstructed our investigation."

They continued: “There could have been absolutely no doubt in the mind of anyone at the CIA — or the White House — of the commission’s interest in any and all information related to Qaeda detainees involved in the 9/11 plot.

"Yet no one in the administration ever told the commission of the existence of videotapes of detainee interrogations," Kean and Hamilton wrote.

The letter can be found on page 26 of the ACLU's set of unveiled documents.

I just read "The USA One Year from Now" up above. Nice post. Curiously, the article ends by concluding, "This is a guess as to the way things may go. Only time will tell."

To the author of that piece I would say, "Dude, that's NO "guess" ..it's an accurate DESCRIPTION of the ACTUAL way current events are unfolding in this country.

Reality or Conspiracy Theory?

“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”

-Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) 28th President of the United States-

Famous Thomas Jefferson Quote

"If the American people ever allow private banks
to control the issue of their money,
first by inflation and then by deflation,
the banks and corporations that will
grow up around them (around the banks),
will deprive the people of their property
until their children will wake up homeless
on the continent their fathers conquered."

Andrew Jackson quotes:
Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves.

Arundhati Roy: "We May Not Need Peace in This Unjust Society; You Need People Who Are Prepared to Resist"
World-renowned author and global justice activist Arundhati Roy discusses U.S. wars, the occupation in Kashmir, and her time spent with Maoist rebels in India.

http://www.alternet.org/world/146138/arundhati_roy%3A_%22we_may_not_need_peace_in_this_unjust_society%3B_you_need_people_who_are_prepared_to_resist%22

And from where I come from, it's almost -- you know, you think that they probably don't even understand what they're doing, the American government. They don't understand what kind of ground they stand on. When you say things like "We have to wipe out the Taliban," what does that mean? The Taliban is not a fixed number of people. The Taliban is an ideology that has sprung out of a history that, you know, America created anyway.

Iraq, the war is going on. Afghanistan, obviously, is rising up in revolt. It's spilled into Pakistan, and from Pakistan into Kashmir and into India. So we're seeing this superpower, in a way, caught in quicksand with a conceptual inability to understand what it's doing, how to get out or how to stay in. It's going to take this country down with it, for sure, you know, and I think it's a real pity that, in a way, at least George Bush was so almost obscene in his stupidity about it, whereas here it's smoke and mirrors, and people find it more difficult to decipher what's going on. But, in fact, the war has expanded.

Great read, thanks bro! I had no idea who Arundhati Roy was before this article, but now I'll keep an eye out for her in the future. Not bad looking too, judging by the photo. Then again these Indian babes usually DO have an issue with personal hygeine. I digress. She sure did a good job explaining the political situation in that part of the world along with the origins for present-day tensions in Kashmir, all of which I had found to be clusterfuckishly too complicated to understand before.

Populist Revolt Brewing?
The Oregonian reports that Oregon voters yesterday bucked decades of anti-tax sentiment "raising taxes on corporations and the wealthy to prevent further erosion of public schools and other state services."

"The double-barreled victory is the first voter-approved statewide income tax increase since the 1930s. Other states, facing similar budget woes, are watching the outcome closely because Oregon, after all, is a state that capped property taxes and locked a surplus tax rebate program into the constitution."

It is a sad and frightening commentary on the state of the nation. As the video below demonstrates, our elected representatives are clueless about the Constitution, which they are sworn to uphold.

CNSNews interviewed John Conyers, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and asked him where in the Constitution is it states that the federal government has the authority to force Americans to buy a product. See the video:

Obama’s guarantee that Americans would still be able to keep the same health care plan is already proving fraudulent as businesses, insurance companies and medical device manufacturers jack up prices.

EXCEPTIONAL article on LRC today.... changing social mood is a necessity if we are to prevail! Viva la Revolucion!

"...If this union is to return to its progressive roots it will be not by the sword but by the writings of those dedicated to a philosophy of liberation, by the wide dissemination of radical thought into the op-ed pages and editorials of our newspapers, into the comments section to Internet news sites, into the mouths of the interviewed "man on the street," into the intellectuals’ monthly journals and thence most importantly, into the minds of men. It is here where even the most humble advocate of liberty can make a difference, it is the necessary first step that, should we fail to take it, will bring any hard-earned advances to naught.

Pick up your pen and write until your fingers go numb, submit an avalanche, cross you fingers, and hope for the best. That is the one and only way to pull out of this tailspin. Patience and endless repetition, above all, are needed. Keep in mind the words of Rexford Tugwell (one of the more reactionary and conservative of FDR’s "Brain Trust") that "a nation does not take a new direction overnight." (Tugwell, 105) Remember that for decades FDR and his fellows wandered in the intellectual wilderness, yet steadily chipped away at the edifice of law, using small, but friendly, publications such as The Review of Reviews and The New Republic as their base of operations.....

....Read the op-ed pages and editorials of any newspaper, glance at the comments section to any Internet news site, and listen to the interviewed "man on the street," read our intellectuals’ monthly journals and agree; modern America is too uncivilized and savage for freedom.

If you wish for a change back to liberty, forget your rifle – grab your pen."

BHO: " I didn't stand with the banks and the financial industries [...] — that's not why I came to Washington — and neither did any of the members of Congress who are here today," Obama said to a supportive crowd at Northern Virginia Community College. "We stood with you."

What a c***-sucking liar. Someone in the audience should have called him out on this faster than you can say "Turbo Tim is a worthless piece of maggot shit." WTF!!??? This is the same lying, worthless politician who called Lloyd Blankfein and Jamie Dimon "savvy businessmen" who deserved their multi-million-dollar pay checks for 2009. F*** him.

Poll shows that population once proud of Scandinavian Airlines is becoming tired of its continuing losses and decreasing service level

A majority of the population is giving a thumbs down to the state’s policy of pumping billions of kroner into ailing Scandinavian Airlines, according to a TV2/Megafon poll.

The government is preparing to use 525 million kroner more on the airline when SAS issues new company shares in April in an effort to keep it afloat. The primary owners – the governments of Denmark, Norway and Sweden – have all promised to buy shares.

But on Thursday the airline published a special financial report that stated it has lost 730 million kroner in the first two months of 2010 alone.

And according to the TV2/Megafon poll, only a third of the population is in favour of the government’s latest rescue plan. Moreover, 45 percent of those polled said the Danish government should wash its hands of SAS entirely.

Lise Lyck, airline industry expert at Copenhagen Business School, said the poll was a telling measure of Danes’ increasingly negative attitudes towards an airline that was once the pride of the Scandinavian nations.

‘SAS has clearly lost its once popular support,’ she told Politiken newspaper. ‘This was a company that was the first to fly over the North Pole and that was known for its high level of service. That reputation has been lost.’

Jacob Pedersen, analyst with Sydbank, said the last three or four years in particular have been especially detrimental to the airline’s reputation.

‘It’s been one long, painful history of poor economic performance, employee layoffs and problems with its aircraft,’ said Pedersen, pointing to the many mechanical failures of the Dash 8 planes and former subsidiary Spanair's fatal crash in Madrid in 2008.

Experts – and SAS CEO Mats Jansson himself – have suggested that the airline’s best chance for survival is a merger or sale. Other formerly state-owned airlines, such as Dutch KLM and Germany’s Lufthansa, have over the past few decades been fully or partially privatised.

According to finance minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen, however, the issue is not whether the state will continue to be an owner of SAS but whether there is optimal air service to the country.

SAS has been no stranger to state funding, having received 600 million kroner in 2009 and similar sums in previous years. But the funding was not questioned until the airline began losing heavy sums, and the most recent financial support is now being challenged in the European Commission by other airlines.

SAS posted net losses of 2.947 billion SEK for 2009, pushing its overall operating losses to 6.36 billion SEK.

Idaho lawmakers pushing for taxes being paid in silver

With only one state representative dissenting, the Idaho House State Affairs committee voted on Monday to endorse HB 633, a bill that would allow Idaho citizens to pay their state taxes with an official state silver medallion.

The news comes just a month after a South Carolina legislator introduced a bill seeking to ban Federal currency altogether, and replace the upstart greenback with gold or silver coins. A half-dozen other states have considered similar legislation, reports the Tenth Amendment Center. But there's a key difference between the Idaho plan and the bills proposed in other states, most of which fall somewhere on a spectrum ranging from Tea Party rage to Ron Paul goldbug-ism. (The South Carolina bill, for example, claims that "the State is experiencing an economic crisis of severe magnitude caused in large part by the unconstitutional substitution of Federal Reserve Notes for silver and gold coin as legal tender in this State.")

Huffington post:Army Officer Joins Birthers, Defies Orders
*Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, an Army physician, has refused to obey any orders from his commanding officers -- including President Obama -- until Obama produces his birth certificate.

"Any reasonable person looking critically at the evidence currently in the public domain would have questions about President Obama's claim to be a natural born citizen," Lakin says in the below video released the right-wing American Patriot Foundation. "I will disobey my orders to deploy [to Afghanistan] because I, and I believe all servicemen and women and the American people, deserve the truth about President Obama's constitutional eligibility to the office of the presidency and the commander in chief."

Lakin says this marks the first time during his 18 years in the Army that he has chosen to disobey "what I believe are illegal orders." Evidently he didn't feel the need to personally verify the citizenship of his three previous commanders-in-chief
