Unfortunately, like George Washington's specifying in his will that his slaves should be freed- after he was gone- President Eisenhower did nothing to actually rein in the military-industrial complex during his tenure. What is worse, the Congress of 1960 had a great deal more moral fiber than the 21st century version, which seems intent on provoking a full scale revolution (which they will crush, of course with their huge arsenal)
