Sunday Links Part 2 (July 12, 2009)

Here are today's links part 1 if you missed them...and 18 new links for part 2 are here.

The shortcut around subscriptions: if a story links to the WSJ, the NYT, or the FT, (and you don't have a subscription) just highlight the article title from the page where the story is blocked, and paste it into a google search.  For example, you will be able to read the entire story by clicking on the google result for the WSJ article that previously only showed you a portion.

At the same time, Obama spends a lot more to fly all by himself (well, a few lawyers are rumored to have gone too) to Hawaii to visit his dying grandmother Toots (the white one he admits to). He seals his birth records and says goodbye. This was also the perfect opportunity to box up Toot’s possessions and his past and stash them away so that no loose ends would turn around to bite him in the future. Satisfied that Hawaii was in the secret vault he returned to Washington where Michelle and the kids remained as Toots was denied the opportunity to see them one last time. Michelle decided not to go one can only assume. Obama then plays up the positive press still unable to recognize his family in Kenya before or after the election. Oh, and since Palin her and her families clothes rather than have expensive designers gift clothes to them like Hillary (the school bus yellow pantsuit), the press seizes on the opportunity to be perfect little elitist libs throwing stones in their rich glass designer houses. Oh my Darwin (Oh my God for the religious right), Sarah Palin’s frames cost $400. Then there is Katie Couric making all those creepy faces while you interview Sarah Palin. They made you look like a silly child. Well, to be fair, it could just be all the cosmetic surgery Katie has had to stay the object of the left’s affections. Hmmm, her ratings did a nosedive after that almost as fast as Obama’s approval ratings are falling. Looks like Obama is going to take a page from Bill’s book and show that he is player by checking out some young thing’s butt. Popularity numbers from married lib women way up (and there are lots of them), slight hit to the relatively few feminists.

Gobias.

I support freedom of thought, speech, etc. I do not wish to restrict your screeds, even though I only sometimes agree with you...usually on the bailouts, actually.

But, part of free speech is the debate component....you say something I think is wrong, I feel the need to state my case. The problem is I can't keep up with you. I'm way too busy doing things behind the scenes...

So I'll respond by saying, please be respectful of everyone when you make such strong political posts...we have readers from both sides, and your stuff tends to be kind of harsh sometimes...

And as I've stated many times, I don't really want this to be a political battleground site...we all need each others' help WAY TOO MUCH for infighting....

We're trying to stop the bailouts and educate about the debt and the federal reserve, and entitlements, and Washington capture and corruption and a few other things I too tired to think of...so it can be distracting from our goal to have regular or semi-regular slightly aggressive screeds being posted all around...

Just try to keep it more coherent and less angry.

That "worthless piece of maggot shit" Tim Geithner gets smart and sassy with the Sherminator (Rep. Brad Sherman, D-CA). Sherman asks Geithner if CDS sold TODAY may be subject to a bailout TOMORROW if the seller goes under. Turbo refuses to answer and says it would be "irresponsible" of him to answer such a "simplistic" question given the "enormous complexities" of the situation. (Personally, I quiver with rage and indignation when I hear this kind of talk: "Things are very complex - we elites understand them and you peasants do not. Trust us. And give us some money." What cheek. What obvious non-sense. More evidence that your government doesn't give a CRAP what you or your representatives think.)

Daily Bail,

I have to admit that it was the other "clawback" who made the posts on the CRA, and not me. The CRA is a non-issue for me. I think Carney's claims are much more modest than his critics want to believe -- but it's a real lightning rod for the D's and R's and I think that explains some of the heat over Carney's posts.

I'm doing some stuff for my dissertation the next couple of days, but I have a couple of things on the back burner that I think you'll find interesting. I'll keep you posted. Promise.

James...

I had no idea there was another Clawback over there...I just assumed it was you....good luck with your dissertation travail...

As for the Sherman video, it's been on my list since Friday when I first saw it...I search for Sherman every day on youtube for new stuff...

The problem is finding the time to get it all posted...when I finish responding to today's comments I can finally get to work...Monday's are my most time-constrained days because it's the 1 day per week I play golf, and go out to dinner, so it steals 6-7 hours from my day...and then if I have a few beers at dinner, I'm usually toast for the rest of the night...

Thanks for the thought, but it's my commitment and i'll fund it.

As for CIT, I fear they will be getting a bailout soon...watching it closely...
