Sen. Whitehouse: Foes Of Health Care Reform Are Birthers, Right-Wing militias, Aryan Groups

Or not.  Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, you are a moron.  Perhaps some of us objected to the bill on its merits (lack thereof) and the continued giveaways to the insurance monopoly.  Wait until the young and healthy learn about the individual mandate en masse; this demographic who supported Obama, will be seething to learn that health care reform means they will be forced to purchase insurance at an average annual price tag of $4,000.

  • "Voting 'no' and hiding from the vote are the same result. Those of us on the floor see it. It was clear the three of them who did not cast their yes votes until all 60 Senate votes had been tallied and it was clear that the result was a foregone conclusion. And why? Why all this discord and discourtesy, all this unprecedented destructive action? All to break the momentum of our new young president.
  • They are desperate to break this president. They have ardent supporters who are nearly hysterical at the very election of President Barack Obama. The birthers, the fanatics, the people running around in right-wing militia and Aryan support groups, it is unbearable to them that President Barack Obama should exist. That is one powerful reason. It is not the only one."

From the Washington Times

I approached (AUDIO) Senator Whitehouse following his speech on the floor, and his responses to my questions were puzzling, to say the say the least. Mr. Whitehouse said he stood by his speech, but would not admit that he was accusing anyone who was against the health care bill as racist. He did reiterate that birthers are part of the group that is against the bill and are attacking president  However, when I asked the Senator from Rhode Island what he meant by describing those who do not support the bill as "aryan," he responded "No, I didn't say that....again, pay attention to the speech."

According to the transcript above, Mr. Whitehouse did say what he seems to be denying.  Perhaps he should pay more attention to what he says on the floor.

Home for Christmas. Three interesting items.

1. I'm reading the paper and see Kathleen Parker's column on health care "reform". Lo and behold, she calls it a "bailout" for the insurance industry. Jesus God Almighty -- I'm calling that a f- - - ing victory. 2. Watching the "news" with mom and dad and the news reader points out that the health care bill will **require** people to purchase insurance whether they want it or not or else pay a fine. My dad immediately turns to me and shakes his head. Says, can you believe that? I've never heard of such in America where you have to buy something whether you want it or not or else pay a fine. (This isn't exactly true, but dad's pissed.) I tell dad he should join the tea party movement -- but I'm ready to start shootin'. LOL. You just lost middle America, Mr. Obama 3. Time magazine comes in the mail today. My wife starts laughing and tells my mom to be sure and give it to me. Yep. B-52 is Time's Man....er Person of the Year. Upshot: I point out that Hitler and Stalin got that honor, too, and everyone laughs. That is, Main St. knows, some way, somehow, that B-52 is a collossal screw-up.

These are small victories, but on the propaganda front, in spite of their best efforts, good things are happening.

Bonus item: B-52 and his wife had an adjustable rate mortgage that blew up on them. They've since refinanced.

Great post DB,

It clearly shows how they will attempt to segregate and criminalize those of opposing views as being merely "whack jobs" who do not know what is good for them.

"Hackers steal SKorean-US military secrets "

This has been going on for years, China has always been behind the play. "But that can't be true, they are our friends", LOL.

Great artcle SNK

It is a shame that in these “orchestrated” economic times, with over10% unemployment, the government is willing to legislate these unwitting masses into criminality, while pampering the criminal elite responsible. You cannot even get a real criminal into jail these days.

But then it is all by design.

In China, when they need more workers for the “labor camps”, they merely arrest more. The more Amerika “borrows”, the more we become like our “benefactor”.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/05/09/real.delay/

Perhaps now, they seek to move the camps here, for this new wave of “criminals” to “work” off their crime. We are truly a one party system, left and right wing socialist.

I am afraid we will all see their version of "a perfect petri dish of capitalism. It's like my Galapagos Island."

Our founders are probably rolling in their graves…

Good point James,

"Upshot: I point out that Hitler and Stalin got that honor, too, and everyone laughs. " Media is business, and business has always been for the ideals of totalitarianism, that is why they honor those who sucessfully shred all evidence of liberty.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. There is big money in corruption...

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor—he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation—he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city—he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared…….Cicero, 42 B.C.E.

Thanks, it is one of my favorites, and as you can see by the date, it is very timeless... There really is nothing new under the sun, we just keep changing the names of the same old problems... And acting like they are brand new and unique to our time.

Someone always profits in troubled times, and in good times. And it is always the same people...

Thanks for drawing attention to this republocrats drivel, DB!

His little rant from pulpit was so thin and disingenuous Helen Keller could see through it. This is not health care reform - none of this is about health care - it's only about returning favors for bribes received to the insurance industry. It's about mandating that Americans pay 8000$/ year so the insurance industry suits can live high on the hog.

There was never a debate. The so called debate reminded me of the Meechum Auto Auction Broadcasts on the Discovery Channel. All any of those 'debaters' were doing was extorting more bribes from big insurance. Their lambasts had nothing to do with the well being of their constituents.

Other countries don't have a Health Insurance Industry - they have a health care industry. The day is fast approaching when dull eyed Americans will finally wake up to this Congressional / Industry Waltz - and when they do - it won't be pretty - the last snake in the pit I would dare challenge to strike is one whose poison glands are filled with the rage of 300 Million really POed American as*holes. That's the last critter anyone reasonable person would dare to incite (the operable word here is reasonable).

So now we're all racists and right wing zealots - if that's they way they want to characterize anyone who says the king has no clothes - all I can say is: It's their funeral!
