Ron Paul Vs. Michael Moore On Larry King Live (The Best Ron Paul Interview We've Seen)

This is the most enjoyable Ron Paul interview we've ever come across -- from Larry King last Thursday.  All bases are touched: healthcare reform (Congressman Paul is a practicing physician), corporatism versus capitalism, lobbying's influence on legislation, our 1-party system, the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Wall Street's Capture of Washington, the Federal Reserve, bailouts, liberty and the forgotten Constitution.

Again, why is this man not President?  No one else even comes close.  Set aside 9 minutes, and do NOT quit early.  The final 60 seconds are important.

Watch (don't click unless you're coming from our email newsletter -- video is below)

CNN: Congressman Dr. Ron Paul On Larry King Live -- October 29

**********

  • "We have lost our faith and confidence and understanding in how free markets work," he said. "We turned it upside-down by saying that any time corporations get benefits, we call it capitalism and freedom, and it's corporatism. It's the military industrial complex. It's all the special interests."
  • "This is where Michael Moore gets it all wrong. He believes diligently in free markets because he believes in the First Amendment. He believes in making films. He doesn't believe in prior restraints. So, why should he condemn capitalism? He's condemning corporatism. I condemn it too. Special privileges for corporations is a big problem."
  • "I think I complain about it as much as he does, but I think I understand it differently. When a country embarks on deficit financing and inflationism, you wipe out the middle class and wealth is transferred from the poor and middle class to the rich. When we get into trouble, the corporations -- once again, who are in control -- they come for their bailout and they get the benefits and the little people don't."

wow. america wants a politician who tells it like it is. don't you get that from ron paul? he's not afraid to campaign for policies that you don't hear from others. republicans that say bring the troops home? but he's right about a lot of this. big government = big spending, and we can't support it anymore.
telling it like it is... kinda like nancy pelosi who says 'we won last night. we were only interested in the ny 23 race."
or the white house who says 'obama isn't even watching the elections'
its opposite world out there these days. ron paul is a breath of fresh air. yeah?

unveiled,

Sounds like you're paying attention. What's the matter, do you want America to fail, you crazy right winger? LOL It's hard to keep track of all the lies, isn't it? Just keep pointing that stuff out to people. You don't even have to argue very much, just point out the basic facts vs. what's been said or promised. Amazing. But I think people are catching on. Whatever you think about the tea parties, those folks aren't buying it.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Ron Paul has been spouting this crazy message for 30 years..............AND I LOVE HIM FOR IT!........RP is our best friend in Washington. We should always listen to him very closely, for we are all conservatives who believe in limited government and individual liberties. If you disagree with me that you are not conservative, send me an email so I can give you my mailing address so you can then send me a check. Times are little tough for me right now and since you seem to be doing OK financially, send me just a little................. I thought so!

I like Michael Moore and his investigative movies, but where he gets it wrong is in siding with the left. If he stood by himself and held both sides accountable, his credability would go way up amoung the sheeple.

As Rush Limbaugh says, the Republicans don't have anyone to put up for President.

Still think Limbaugh is a good Republican that has America's best interest at heart? Oh you silly Republicans. Are all of you Neo-Cons now?

Rush Limbaugh is one of the top ten enemies of the United States of America.

THINK!

So I had to think about this for a couple of days before putting it in print.

It is interesting that Michael Moore and Ron Paul find the same problems in our society and they blame the same villains, yet the conclusions and solutions they derive are as different as night and day.

Michael Moore experienced growing up in Flint Michigan, watching corporate excesses and inadequate (non-existent) governmental responses to real economic and social problems. All the while, people as similar to you and I as can be, just a stone's throw away in Hamilton Ontario lived through the same macro-economic problems but did not experience the dramatic social and economic decline that happened on our side of the border. The only major difference being some choices that were made a generation or two ago regarding the social contract between a government and its citizens.

Ron Paul seems to be a a true Jeffersonian in his outlook, favoring small business over corporations, small land owners over corporate farms and free enterprise over any government initiative. Also he is a man from Texas, a state populated primarily by persons of lineage originating in the southern tier of US states. The shared cultural experience of many southerners tends to distrust of any government.

I think both men have valuable messages but, as inspiring as Ron Paul's message is, it leads to an unworkable solution.
Even Adam Smith agreed that a true free market, while a worthy goal, was in reality unattainable.
All market participants can never have equal knowledge of all market information, and human beings rarely act in a purely rational fashion making "rational self-interest" the exception rather than the rule.

Also, corporations have been the primary player in global economic systems for more than a century. They are not going away and they are not acting in my (or your) best interest. (only possibly if you are a major shareholder..)
Michael Moore's idea accepts that corporations are necessary evils, they provide economies of scale, cheap consumer goods and (at least in the past) well paying jobs. What is needed is a counterbalancing power to the corporation, and in his worldview this is a government of, by and FOR the people.
