Police Attack Military Veterans, Arrest 100 At Occupy Boston

---

The Boston Globe reports that arrested protesters were “put on [their] stomach, cable-tied, and dragged away …”

The AP reports the police were sent in to protect $150,000 worth of newly-planted shrubs at the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, site of a large Occupy Boston contingent. As news of the arrests spread across Twitter early Tuesday, several videos emerged that support the claim that members of  Veterans for Peace were attacked by the police.

At least 100 arrested at Occupy Boston protest

Excerpt:

But it was not until after 1 a.m. ET Tuesday when hundreds of Boston and Transit police officers, some in riot gear, moved in on the group, handcuffing protesters and tearing down tents.

“At 1:30 this morning hundreds of police in full riot gear brutally attacked Occupy Boston,” the group said in a news release, adding that authorities “made no distinction between protesters, medics, or legal observers.”

Civil disobedience will not be tolerated,” Boston Mayor Thomas Menino told the local Fox News affiliate in an interview early Tuesday.

I wonder if the politicians in the cities where these protests are taking place, and those at the top in Washington D.C. have any Idea how quick, overreacting and storm trooper tactics could turn these peaceful protests into a violent revolt. As long as these protesters abide by their constitutional rights, the politicos need to keep their dogs muzzled and on short leashes.

Maybe its time for veterans and active duty troops to uphold the constitution by removing these corrupt police and officials. It is way past time for a coup d'état.

What idiots the Boston PD are.
Attacking a group of VETERANS?
That is not going to turn out well for them.

So this is how military service is rewarded in the U.S. today, is it? And for what? Exercising their right to peaceably assemble under the first amendment.

I come from a long line of colonels and captains and know how they would respond to this craven outrage. I hate to say it, but Pissed's "coup d'état" ain't very far from the mark.

Keep it up, banksters and bankster minion-cops, keep it up, and we'll see what you're REALLY made of.

Time to do your job Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy.
Protect the people of this great land. Our enemies dress in business suits and many of them have positions in our government. If you have a superior officers stopping you from helping the people of this country. Relieve him/her of duty, all of them, all the way to the top. Until no one opposes the constitution. This is an Order. Carry on.

"So this is how military service is rewarded in the U.S. today, is it? "

This is the way it always has been Cheyenne, do some research on the Bonus Army, you will be amazed. Especially when you see the names responsible for the violence against veterans and how they are held in such high regard today...

The ironic thing of this today is that with every cities budget crisis in America, and the politicians continual need for greater pay while destroying the American way of life, the first thing they do is lay off cops. Ironically many of these cops one year from today are probably going to find themselves on the outside looking in as they to are thrown under the bus by the very politicians who are paying them to do these things now.

I wonder how they will fit into society then?

Just because they say they are veterans doesn't prove anything, how many had proof of that, how many could produce proof if given time. I'm betting damned few of them and I'm betting there surely were/are more real veterans among the police ranks. Take notice that they said "veterans of the United States of America', it makes their chant meaningless but they do have the example of John Kerry, veteran and self-proclaimed hero extraordinaire that turned on his fellows by blaming them for various outrages. Perhaps there's a new John Kerry in the mix along with a new William Ayers???? I'm also betting the two claiming to be Marines were misfits and the Marines will not claim them or they were lying through their teeth.

Occupy Boston did have permission to be at the second location.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/11/occupy-bostons-mass-arres_n_1005170.html

[snip]

Joshua Eaton, 27, a member of Occupy Boston, told HuffPost that the group had something of an arrangement with the Greenway Conservancy, which manages the property. "We did have an informal agreement with the Greenway Conservancy, that as long as we didn't damage the flowers or the shrubbery, we were fine to be where we were," he told HuffPost. "It was a very informal agreement. But we did have one."

The Greenway website confirms that it did have an agreement with the protestors. "Occupy Boston organizers have been cooperative with the Conservancy and the Boston Police Department to date, and have agreed to avoid the planting beds and adhere to common sense rules." Calls to the Greenway seeking comment were not returned.

The veterans should remember that there are always rules of conduct and should be obeyed. If, and that's a big if, there were permits issued by the appropriate authorities, then anyone arrested has legal standing. With no permits, the protestors are breaking the law plain and simple. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. As far as being attacked, i saw no evidence of stormtrooper tactics - videos were chaotic and not clear. Cuffing and dragging a non-cooperating protestor is s.o.p. according to those i know in law enforcement. I fully support non-violent protest as practiced by Ghandi and M.L.K., but i fear that agitators within the O.W.S. could bring this movement to a bad end resulting in potential marshall law being enacted, in which case we all lose freedoms and lives.
