I watched the video and chuckled. It's impossible to "squat" in your own house. These people borrowed money from a bank and bought the right to control a deed. They failed at maintaining that right.

Nearly all people I know in Southern California are working. The ones who aren't lack marketable job skills -- they're high school grads only or maybe they earned college degrees in the humanities.

I've seen dozens of new retail businesses open up -- from hydroponics equipment to foot massage.

Persons who wrecked their own lives by their reckless decisions who are living in Southern California need to face truth. They borrowed too much cash from bankers to buy more house than they could afford. They leveraged against their houses to live a phony life of luxury.

Now, they need to partner up with others like themselves, suck it up and live 10 in a house, if need be, so they can get their financial lives in order.

These same people need to look in mirrors and accept truth. They lack suitable job skills for the 21st century to earn income sufficient to pay for expenses at the living standard they believe, falsely, that they are entitled to have.

Banks are not putting these repossessed houses on the market for sale.

The reason is not altruistic; they don't care about these "squatters in their own houses."

They don't want to flood the market with houses because they don't want the price of houses to fall. They don't want the price of houses to fall because they are using the original prices of these foreclosed houses to calculate the total value of their bank assets. If the prices fall to their true value on the free market, the banks total asset value will go below zero and they will be technically bankrupt.

Of course, if banks didn't do this and the government took over the process the end result would probably be the same because the government would not want to see a huge increase in homeless people.

The same thing happened in the Great Depression and for similar motives: The banks had no motive for taking over foreclosed houses that they couldn't sell without taking huge losses, and couldn't maintain anyway at a huge cost to themselves.

So today (and then) they let the people maintain their own houses the best they can and pretend that the houses the banks own are worth what they were when the people took out their loans. And people thank them for it.

But the process distorts the free market in that it depresses the rental market (many of these people would rent otherwise), it distorts the housing market (more houses on the market would lower the value of the average house) and distorts the true value of the banks that hold a huge amount of undervalued assets (repossessed houses.)

Corporate capitalism has always fought small business, free-enterprise capitalism and market forces. They want monopolies first and oligopoly second and they elect governments to give it to them.

The issues seem to be too complex for individual voters to understand so they vote for personalities who promise them bread and circuses instead of for people of integrity who tell them the truth which is that only hard work, saving money and education/training will make their lives better. Why vote for someone like that?

Birds of a feather…Let’s see the highlights…

Marc Mezvinsky, 31, will marry Chelsea Clinton, 29, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, in the summer of 2010.

Mezvinsky also has a successful Wall Street career. He currently works at the hedge fund G3 Capital and previously was an investment banker at the behemoth Goldman Sachs.

In 2008, Marc Mezvinsky bought a condominium in the Flatiron district of Manhattan valued at roughly $3.8 million. According to New York Magazine, he toured the 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom condo with then-girlfriend Chelsea, after they looked at other properties in downtown.

Marc Mezvinsky is the son of two former members of Congress. His mother, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (D-Pa.), served one term (1992-1994) and his father, Edward M. Mezvinsky (D-Iowa), served two (1973-1977.) Ed Mezvinsky pleaded guilty in 2002 to swindling dozens of investors out of $10 million and served five years in prison. He was released in April 2008, but remains on federal probation and still owes almost $9.4 million in restitution to his victims.

Bernie Madoff Light…Yes, THE CLASSIC PONZI SCHEME…
…Based on his close connections to the Clinton family.
FAST TALKING EDDIE (FATHER OF THE GROOM)…

Ed Mezvinsky's nickname among pool reporters in the 1970s was "Fast Talkin' Eddie." The former star athlete turned politician spent four years in the U.S. House of Representatives before going into business for himself, hatching a string of fraudulent activity the FBI later said infiltratated nearly every one of his business deals between 1980 and 2000.

After pleading guilty to 31 of 69 charges of bank fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud in 2001, Mezvinsky went on to serve federal prison time and was released April 11, 2008. Mezvinsky was a Philadelphia lawyer and self-styled international businessman who in some ways was a pioneer scam artist. Before the Nigerian advance fee scam became a ubiquitous experience in Americans' email in-boxes, Mezvinsky was deftly executing the scam in real time, convincing victims to hand over large amounts of cash based on his close connections to the Clinton family.

Mezvinsky would later claim that he was suffering from bipolar disease, which led him to the life of crime. In all, the FBI says Mezvinsky took in about $10 million, and described him as a one-man crimewave. Mezvinsky's victims were friends, friends of friends, even his mother-in-law. He was a public figure, so victims trusted him, sure he wouldn't jeopardize his and his wife's political ambitions.

Don't get upset with me but did you graduate high school?

"No ZaRa" I dident. I had to drop out of the end of my 3rd year to keep the family all togeather, and get a job a McDonalds to keep the bills payed. My mom taught me Keyboards, and guitar. We did duetts when I was 6 on the accoradian.

Sadly thoe, she had bipolar disease, Skitafarina, and Pearanoia. You know what im trying to spell. It was her 4th time in the Sikc-ward and was going to be for 3-4 mos.

The state was going to split us up this time, as no relitive wanted to take another turn careing for us 4 kids. So my 64 Chev. SS Rag-top went to work in stead of finishing the school year, and it went into the fall of the next with 3 1 mo. home visites.

It was almost 3 years later before she could make it staying at home and fitting back into home life. By then I had 2 jobs, and a "Kick Ass Country Rock Band", and saw no need to go back and finish the last year of HS...................

P.S. I wasent a good speller in 7-8th grade, so one more year wasent going to help me thAre.....Ha ? Unlike smart people, some of ol country singer guys talk threw our harts, and not our brains. Plus the Lyme, plus 5 more from 2 tick bites mess with my brain cells. Its called "Brain Fog"...........

.....I reamber to songs I sang in 7th grade, but cant reamber what we had for supper, nor the show we watched last night. BHO dosent have a BS, why would a HSD make me any better of a person...?

I was fired from my last job haulling Gas, Diesel fuell here in the Ozarks, when they found out that in Oct. of 1999 they put a "Defected-Leakking-Re-Called Hart Valve" in me. Ins. couldent cover me, and out the door I went.

I can no longer drive for anyone. My CDL, "Has Mat" was pulled from me. I've been unemployable since Aug. 2000. I have Severe CFS, and get out of breath just eatting a big meal, or trying to keep up with "ZaRa & Ken-Bot".......

I wouldent change a thing, and I still cant spell. I care deeply for Animails 1st, People 2nd, Country 3rd. So, yes I do have a deploma in life, do you..........................................?

How do you know yr Spellin is right....? Maby us "Lefty's" are a supper-Beeings, above the smart people, I Did that one on Pourpous, to see if I did spelth'ed it right ?

One thing I will not let, is the smart people Tare Dar Down, becouse in my life, ( 1992 when the first Tick took life away from me ! ) I have done more, had more "Toy's", worked with more imporant people, some not so smart,,,,,,,,& made more friends in high places, and lost just about "Everything" I lived & dreamed for & still love life.

I have a very close friend that owns oil wells from Nabreaska. to Tx. & he cant spell that great too ! Drives a 2008 RR, and a New Prevost 45' bus, like I wished I could aford, and a cabin 3 down from me.

"Z" I do understand how "A-Noy-Ing" us not so smart people can be. You know im working the croud here, Right. Yr my best material.........but the story is all true.

One thing I can tell you, is I feel right at home on DB's site. & You & "Boot-Boy" are my most'est fun. Im trying "Hard Here" with "RLR" ?

"Pssssssss't" some times I spell words the way I like to see them. Im not so sure if ya'll know how to realy spell them. Then, yr brain aint twisted up the way mine is, Ha ?

It can happen to good people doing all the right things too. Everything closed in on us.

in every mortgage packet you sign before actually buying the property,
there is ONE sheet that states what you are borrowing, how much interest you will be paying and when it will go up, etc, etc,
it's ALL ON ONE SHEET of PAPER!!!...
if you don't understand the mother, ask someone or don't sign it! if you sign it, OWN UP to the responsibility of it!

and you are too stupid to fall for snake oil lending companies and people, you are probably too stupid to own the house to
begin with.

just sick and tire of people who do not own up to their choices and responsibilities..
i don't like the banks, but if you purchase a property, then can't afford to live there FOR WHATEVER THE REASON IS..
freaking move!
the banks didn't ASK YOU TO BUY THAT PROPERTY.
the banks puts out the terms that BOTH OF YOU MUTUALLY AGREED TO!
the banks HAD TO PAY WHAT YOU BORROWED TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER of the property. it's not like the
banks got it for FREE! they are trying to recoup the lost investment the put out for that property. for those that said
banks created out of thin air, true, but they still has to put that $$ in their books and it will come out as a loss no
matter how you cut it. the banks weren't the one who make squatter buy the house, why is the bank the
one left hold the bag?

like i said, i don't like banks and some of their practices and their perks. but for some forclosed homeowners to
squat or sue to keep their property that THEY COULDN'T PAY FOR and now are living free.
man, 2 wrongs don't make a right! and there's not even 2 wrongs there, (bank's not wrong to provide loan,
some folks are too stupid to go for it!)

for ye squatter, i feel sorry for your situation and your kids if you have any,
but i don't feel sorry for you directly, no one made you sign dem papers and
put a gun to your head to purchase that property that now you can't afford.
you should have plan accordingly & own up to what your choices are man!

there's my rant...

for those that "did" everything right but still falls short,
tough luck, that's life.
no one said your "INVESTMENT" in housing is 100% guaranteed!
you win some and you will definately lose some in any investments.
so you lost on this round. if you haven't learn to spread your nesteggs,
live and learn, suck it up and move on.

Doesn't that loss go for the banks who take the risk on the borrower as well... dufus and others. I would rather bailout my neighbor than a phuck'n bankster. These same banksters took a "squatters" mortgage along with others and sold it in bundles as a sound investment all around the world. The problem is they sold that same bundle more than once... PHUCK'N ILLEGAL! They covered it by OVER appraising the property and allowed the borrower to leverage up to 150% of the OVER appraised value as debt. Bad, bad, bad, bad banking and mortgage RISK! The reason it collapsed is because it was ALL built on PUFFED up appraising and leveraging. Those are all the standards BANKS are supposed to understand and follow to keep them and there borrowers out of trouble not the other PHUCK'N way around!

The groups nationally and internationally found out about the fraudulent packages and demanded their money back pre-2007, before the collapse. The investment bankers couldn't cover their alligator mouths with their chicken asses. So, they called in their brethren the oil speculators and jammed oil to $150.00. THERE is where the collapse became tangible in intention and felt domestically. They set the proverbial "house" on fire to cover the evidence of their crime and it still came to the surface and no ONE is in jail, but the Madoff Jew? How much of the laundered profits from Wells Fargo transactions with admitted Mexican drug cartels would pay for my neighbors mortgage or mine for that matter? If Wells did it... they all did and do and not just Mexican drug money. No one but the little guy is going to jail for any kind of crime and their is still someone in this country that would waste their breath on defending a banker by beating up verbally on a squatter? This is how they win.

There was a wise man that once said, "Why give pearls to pigs? They can only throw them to the ground and trample them." For those of you safely in your mortgage and career, remember when one thread unravels from the cloth of your community then the entire fabric is weakened until it is mended. Bankers don't mend they negotiate rates, neighbors mend a community torn from within!

My two cents,

Ghana

Sure people are responsible for their own actions. Buying a house well beyond their means to pay is irresponsible and self deluding. BUT the banks and appraisers artificially inflated prices and lent money to people they knew could not pay it back. When speculators drive up the price of food is it your fault if you pay $10 for a loaf of bread? You can't rent dinner like you can a house, but the same corporate 'bottom line uber allus' techniques apply regardless of whether a family needs shelter or food. I was at the grocery store yesterday and 2 rib steaks cost $29 yet I live in the heart of ranching country, heck I had 15 head of herefords wander into my front yard last summer, had to chase them back to range. The ranchers don't get $29 for two rib steak, the speculators pay the rancher $2, the meat cutter $1 and they pocket the difference. For doing nothing but artificially driving up prices. The housing bubble was just a taste of what's coming (sorry for the pun)

To Smack MacDougal

I admire your view that hard work and prudent financial management would have helped these people against becoming squaters in thier own homes.

I grew up thinking the same way, people should be better rewarded for being smart in school, and when they grow up, they should be made president, and tell everybody else who came last in class how to live thier lives. And tell those too stupid to get a good degree, its thier fault for being poor and homeless.

Luckily for me, certain events in my life showed me there is more to this world than meets the eyes, and why some people are reach and others are poor, and its got nothing to do with your grades or hardwok.

All over the world this capitalist madness is claiming victims for generations by saying those who think fast should get the food of those who dont feel the fear so take thier time to breath and think. From the aborigonis in Australia to the Arabs in the middle east and all other capitalism emprisoned people of the world.

Basic Food and Shelter is the birthright of every living human being, and there is no schism in the dictionary that can disproof that.

Its not the poor that are wrong, its capitalism gone mad. Food was growing through the soil on earth ages before school was invented to brainwash the poplulation into thinking fast is good and slow is bad, and complexity is smart and simplicity is boring.

In the end slow and simple will rule the world, and there will once again be peace descency and common sense. And nobody will have a pool in thier house built over what should be another man's home.

Well this has been fun reading this. Trying to view all of this from it's proper perspective is tough mostly because I'm jewish.
I don't spell half bad, so let's keep this real. The banks get pretend paper fiat from the Fed who sells you your money, and
if you don't have enough of it, the bankster will loan you more but for alot more interest then your yearly taxes that pay
the fed. So with this double indemnity, you live the american dream, until.........Freddie arrived. Literally. Heck I went out and
bought a home that was worth about 215,000 and payed 750,000 for it. I was never going to get what I paid for the Joint.
Stripped her of all her precious metals and sucked out anything that might be worth something somewhere down the melt down value highway. What's coming is far worse. Remember that Rome fell because the people put all of their hope in Salt and gold and not God, or food and they starved to death. You can't eat gold. I say get a wood stove for heating and cooking and use wood, any tree in the neighborhood will do, if you are squatting grow lots of vegetable on the lawns like we are, and try to invest in a solar panel, or build one. And buy a few 55 gallon drums to catch water. Oh yes soon there will be no running water...no electricity, so keeping yourself warm and get lots of blankets, when people are living 10 and 12 to a house, many will sleep on the floor, Get food with a 15 year shelf life, that's the most important thing, buy lots of dried beans and Rice, in the end it's food that is going to matter and those who have food are going to have to protect their supplies with their very lives
if you are smart you will have at least half an acre you can plant and a gun to protect it.

The american dream is coming to a very abrupt end, her destruction comes in 1 hour. So the little Danish kid with the Red shield has his finger stuck in the dyke, or is that dike?? As in Queen of england? and the flood of countries defaulting will flood the world it will be dog eat dog and maybe us eating long pig.
