MUST SEE - Keith Olbermann's Call To Arms: The Great Hypocrisy Of Debt, Politics, War And Man

     Email to a Friend

---

Fire and brimstone.

This video is going to be very controversial with readers, without doubt.  I have my issues with Olbermann, mostly due to his extreme partisanship.  Dylan Ratigan has long since ascertained the truth that Olbermann takes great pains to avoid, namely that both parties are to blame, not just Republicans, as Democrats are equally complicit in facilitating the grand corporate takeover of America, specifically Washington.

That being said, this is an energetic, uplifting and remarkably angry clip that clamors for and deserves 8 minutes of your time, regardless of your tribal affiliation.  I do not agree with all that Olbermann states herein.  He is wrong, for example, about a balanced budget amendment, as it would allow deficit spending in exigent circumstance, and he is wrong as stated above, to focus his blame on but one side.  But his anti-war, anti-political message resonates as among the best I've seen, and his passion in vilifying the guilty will strike a chord with all but the most partisan among you.

Coming on the heels of Lieberman's pathetic call to cut Social Security for the sake of war, virtually endless war, delivered yesterday on the Senate floor, Olbermann's battle cry for action, for a public response of some kind, of any kind, is all the more moving and timely.

This is a call to arms like few you have heard.  Pay it due heed.

Finally! Someone who understands that anger is not only okay but in many cases needed. I hear it in the media so much as a useful tool to impugn people who are simply exercising their god given gift of anger. Anger is a gift to remove yourself as a victim. Though people would have you believe differently especially the maniacally genius political spin doctors that created this so called "Super Congress". We should be angry over being lied to and manipulated. Nothing could be more true but I'll bet there are some people with a couple letters after their name on a certificate that will discredit this person. Perhaps enough to be considered a threat then the FBI can waste money watching him or tracking him as we have seen is now happening. I may have earned one just for this post which in some ways it is funny but it is also tiring to be mistreated as we have by 545 people plus their backers. They, in calm voice, induce fear and manipulation but thats okay? I think not.

What is more striking is that too many people admire that way of manipulative thinking and consider others who don't act as such weak, simple or worse. I humbly believe Dr. Paul would agree on this point. He has fallen to criticism for appearing to be just that. For example when Donald Trump said in Las Vegas after referring to Chinese trade as a whole "Mother fuckers" he a also said when asked how he felt about Ron Paul running for president, "Hey I think he is a nice guy but he is not electable and he will never be elected". That was not the fist time someone said it that has a soapbox if you will. I ask does that make them right?

If one takes time to consider that being nice or polite does not equate to being weak or ignorant and so on, one could save themselves from having to learn a very tough lesson the hard way. One does not equal the other. In fact it's really the other way around if it's anything. I hope this video will be infectious for all of those reasons. We certainly need it.

Great Video DB.

Thanks.

DB, You may already have this.
From the link
If the Democratic Party is totally FUBAR, totally spineless, totally owned by the same people who own the Republican Party and committed to the same class war that the GOP is engaged in, whereby the rich are made richer at the expense of everyone else, if the choices in our elections boil down to a cruel Republican Shock Doctrine or a kinder, gentler, more moderate version of the GOP's shock doctrine, then do we even have a "choice"? And if not, when do we start marching in the streets?

Response to Kerry OpEd in the Washington Post

http://www.tradeaidmonitor.com/2011/08/response-to-kerry-oped-in-the-washington-post.html

[snip]

Having just read an opinion piece by John Kerry, the Democratic Senator and former presidential candidate from Massachusetts, I can no longer maintain my previous stance on keeping the Monitor a strictly news-only, opinion-free service. The continued push to redistribute our nation's wealth around the globe under the misguided name of foreign aid continues unabated in the U.S. Congress, despite growing public opposition. Kerry's powerful position as Foreign Affairs Committee chairman makes his stance on maintaining the status quo all the more troubling to me as a citizen.

I really like the Trade and aid monitor and suggest everyone take a look at it....... Here is another story I find troubling.

Russia, U.S. prepare new military cooperation deals

http://en.rian.ru/mlitary_news/20110804/165556166.html

[snip]

This May, the United States signed a $367.5 million contract with Russia to buy 21 Mi-17V5 military transport helicopters for the Afghan army.

"We plan to sign more deals with the United States very soon, and plan to extend [cooperation] beyond helicopter deals," Vyacheslav Dzirkaln said, adding that the two countries are in search of other mutually beneficial areas of military cooperation.

Does Keith, in all his fury, mention anything about dissolving the Federal Reserve???? Therein lies our problem.

He's a shill as bad as they come. He's on air, so his probation for being a complete hack must be over for now. Dylan Ratigan can run circles around Keith who is nothing more than an angry liberal/socialist POS who couldn't find his way out of a paper bag on his best day. I won't waste 8 minutes on the clueless one, but if you enjoy complete BS bread and circus, then make some popcorn and watch the show.

A Convoluted Deal and America's Reputation in Tatters.
The American politicians may have reached a debt deal late last night and a default is now likely to be averted, but the political circus of last few weeks has left America's reputation in tatters.

The debt ceiling will now go up to $16.7 trillion over eighteen months. However, the deal barely patches economic wounds and methodology adopted is so convoluted and that it leaves many wondering about the caliber U.S. politicians. Also, many are wondering that if a deal could be done last minute, why could it not have been done three months ago, saving America this embarrassment?

What U.S. needed was an increase in debt ceiling and constitution of a bipartisan Commission to work out and implement a plan to revive U.S. economy, create more jobs, cut wasteful expenditure, enable innovators and entrepreneurs to start new businesses using new technologies so that the economy expands and revenues grow. Instead, there is no focus on jobs, economy or the well being of U.S., the only task of the Commission set up under this deal is to cut cut cut. This does not bode well for future of U.S. economy.

It is a pity that a country gave the world the concept of free market economy, innovation and opportunities for all; is going through dire straights. Even an ardent communist, Maoist country like China has very successfully adopted U.S. style free market, creating enormous prosperity for its citizens.

The U.S. public has watched all this in horror and hopefully some lessons have been learned and the voters will send those politicians packing in 2012 who perpetuated this crisis.

Like his passion and his "Network" moment, although misguided against the Republican machine and his defense of Keynesian economics. He hits on a major theme, however. The ruling class is killing the middle class.

That being said, those who know Keith (and a very good friend of mine knows him well) say he is very sharp, but extremely geeky and weird. Example? Never been married or that into women and probably has the largest baseball card collection in the country, which he spends an ENORMOUS amount of time organizing, etc. Surprised?

Great comments all the way around. Dave, excellent stuff all the way at the top. A. Haque, enjoyed reading your thoughts. Josie, no I can't say I'm totally surprised. I have a friend in upper management at ESPN and he says the same as you about Keith.

Right on, Dar. In addition to congressionally allowed income taxes, the foul Year of Our Lord 1913 also saw the first state legislative ban on the possession of cannabis--following intense lobbying by the pharmaceutical industry, which sought to eliminate competition from hemp producers--as well as the cosmically satanic birth of the Fed.

Talk about an unholy trio.
