MILESTONE WSJ/NBC POLL: 63% Say Obama & Congress Should Focus More On Deficit Than Boosting Jobs

This one slipped under the radar last week:

And see how it's already effecting legislation:

---

Poll Language and Structure:

Which of the following two statements comes closer to your point of view?

Statement A: The president and the Congress should worry more about boosting the economy even though it may mean larger budget deficits now and in the future.

Statement B: The president and the Congress should worry more about keeping the budget deficit down, even though it may mean it will take longer for the economy to recover.

Statement A/Worry more about boosting the economy .............. 34

Statement B/Worry more about keeping budget deficit down ..... 63

“Some 45% said they preferred a Republican controlled Congress as the outcome of the 2010 midterm elections compared with 43% who said they preferred Democrats remain in control.

“That might not seem like such a big difference, but the numbers have been trending—slowly–in the GOP’s favor. There’s been a notable decline in support for a Democratic-controlled Congress in WSJ/NBC polls. In November 2008, the public preferred a Democratic Congress by a 12-point, 48%-36% margin. By January 2010, the parties tied at 41%. Now, the GOP is in the lead.” (Susan Davis, “WSJ/NBC Poll: Voters Support GOP Takeover of Congress,” Wall Street Journal, 6/23/2010).

Republicans are being real dumbasses on this issue. Two million people lose their unemployment benefits this week. This means they no longer exist as far as the administration is concerned and Obama will take credit for a "lower" unemployment rate. Extend the benefits and you could see 10.5 or even 11% headline unemployment by the election.

But, we can Hope & Pray that they do the right thing. The closer we get to Nov. the faster the water is comming into the boat. And were running out of pails to bail the water out.

BHO can play with the #'s all he wants. The truth is ho body is out shopping on down town main St. USA. I think jobes should be first. The more people back working and spending money will right the boat in the long run. I dont get out much, either...?

If the Republicans don't pass it they won't have to worry about winning in November, everyone knows their past lust for swallowing hard on business, offshoring, outsourcing, etc., and paying with tax dollars to help them leave, or "capitalism in a petry dish", Saipan.

People do not forget the fundementals, especially when they are hungry and watching their children starve...

That would make Gobie sad.
