NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — The U.S. dollar extended gains against the euro, with the single currency falling 2.7% this week, following a report saying Greece is considering withdrawing from the euro zone.

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) — Analysts offered a wide variety of reasons for Thursday’s plunge in commodities, but some agreed the main force behind the drop might simply be a matter of stampeding speculators.

“It all began with silver, which started falling sharply late last week when CME Group increased margin requirements on trades,” said BMO Financial Group Chief Economist Sherry Cooper, in a note Thursday.

Let's go further:

Maybe we should be making our "leaders" pick up their riffles and lead the charge.

Jon Stewart is a comedian, are we to laugh at this comment? He got yucks aplenty mocking George Bush but can't find humor or irony on Obama floundering through his presidency. I don't need to see Osama bin Laden dead, while I distrust all politicians and their remarks on the issue, if the SEAL team say he's dead, he's dead.

You won't hear the SEAL team say anything. They follow orders.

Under the United States Constitution America needs Congressional approval to start and maintain a War. Since World War II The U.S. Congress has NOT DECLARED ONE WAR and how many wars have we been in since then, and for who, really, and who benefits, really and who pays, really? I haven't sold anybody any tanks or planes lately. Have you? I haven't risked my life or limb or any family members' lives or limbs. Have you? Who are we REALLY fighting for now? I salute our miltary men and women who have made small and great sacrifices but is it really necessary for America or Americans to live here in our own country at peace? Or are we warring to preserve American Colonial Business inerests abroad and/or to defend someone else's country from harm? Let us Pray................and show pictures as Jon Stewart says...............Written by Someone Who is For a Strong DEFENSIVE MILITARY.....But no More........

"Since World War II The U.S. Congress has NOT DECLARED ONE WAR and how many wars have we been in since then, and for who, really, and who benefits, really and who pays, really?"

The corporate elite receive the benefits in wealth and power, The American people pay with their blood, the blood of their children and a tax code that is written by those same corporate elite parasites.

Dwight Eisenhower foresaw the situation we are living today and tried to warn the nation, I don't think anybody listened.

Eisenhower warns us of the military industrial complex.

UNFORTUNATELY I POSTED INCORRECTLY. THIS IS TO MR. McCORMICK WHO SO BRAZENLY DISCUSSES OUR MILITARY AND OUR WARS. I, YES, ME, A FEMALE HAVE SERVED, MY CHILDREN HAVE SERVED, GIRLS AND BOYS, MY HUSBAND SERVED FOR 30 YEARS. WHY????? SO IDIOTS LIKE YOU CAN MAKE COMMENTS LIKE YOU DO AND CAN DO IT WITH THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH, RELIGION, ETC. HOW DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE THAT? DID YOU SERVE???? I DOUBT IT OR YOU WOULD NOT TALK THE WAY YOU HAVE. OUR MILITARY SERVE AS THEY ARE TOLD AND OBEY THEIR COMMANDERS AND WHAT FOR, TO PROTECT PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

Babs,
Sorry love you and your family did serve so we could have freedom of speech. Can you name the person or persons who were a direct threat to our freedom of speech while you served?

Long before you ever served or anyone in your family served, one of the greatest warriors General Smedly Butler, two time congressional medal of honor winner, summed it up when he said war is a racket.

It pains me to think members of the military really believe we are in Iraq or Afghanistan because America or Americans are in danger of being attacked by either of those nations. They were never a threat and it insane to start blowing up a country over a beef with one guy.

Like many American's you show complete disdain and indifference for the lives of innocents killed for no reason in Iraq and Afghanistan. History will not be kind to you and yours.

Oldwarrior--

Kudos on the outstanding post. I can only add, a few hours now before the 137th Kentucky Derby, that our odds against Afghanistan were real grim before we even started in. How many so-called "dynasties" had Afghanistan buried before we decided to take a poke? Seven?

There is NO WAY that either a democracy or republic signed off on that. So "it" must be something else.

Anybody see a dialysis machine in any of the photo's released? Osama bought 2 from the American hospital in Dubai in 2001. He was suffering from kidney failure. if he had a transplant, they would have found anti rejection drugs as evidence to show the people.

Bin Laden had kidney disease. He had been treated for it in the American Hospital in Dubai in July 2001, at which time he reportedly ordered two dialysis machines to take home. If you have ever wondered what bin Laden was doing the night before the 9/11 attacks, CBS News reported that he was being given kidney dialysis treatment in a hospital in Pakistan. And in January of 2001, Dr. Sanjay Gupta said – based on a video of bin Laden that had been made in either late November or early December of 2001 – that he appeared to be in the last stages of kidney failure.

Just in case anyone here forgot.

There were no WMDs.
And Sadam was NOT linked with 9/11

The people who were linked to 9/11 by the US government. Were Saudi.

It is not a complex thought process, but why is the US army bombing Iraq and not Saudi Arabia?
Think about it. Then back to me with an answer that does not involve the use of the word OIL.
May 7, 2011 at 3:35 AM | Unregistered CommenterMorton
Saddam was not linked with 9/11.

Most were Saudi.

As to WMD's, in 1982, early in the Iran-Iraq War, the Iraqis progressed from riot control agents to repel Iranian attacks to the use of CW agents (WMD’s) in mid-1983 with mustard, and in March 1984 with tabun (the first use ever of a nerve agent in war). The Iraqis continued to use chemical weapons until the end of hostilities in August 1988, in addition they introduced the nerve agents sarin and GF late in the war.

In March 1986 UN Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar formally accused Iraq of using chemical weapons against Iran. Citing the report of four chemical warfare experts whom the UN had sent to Iran in February and March 1986, the secretary general called for Baghdad to end its violation of the 1925 Geneva Protocol on the use of chemical weapons. The UN report concluded that "Iraqi forces have used chemical warfare against Iranian forces"; the weapons used included both mustard gas and nerve gas. The report further stated that "the use of chemical weapons appear to be more extensive in 1981 than in 1984." Iraq attempted to deny using chemicals, but the evidence, in the form of many badly burned casualties flown to European hospitals for treatment, was overwhelming. By July 1986 it was estimated that Iraqi chemical warfare was responsible for about 10,000 casualties.

Although the Iraqis initially used chemical weapons to prevent defeat and to reduce battlefield losses, they later integrated CW attacks into combined-armed operations designed to regain lost territory and to gain the offensive. Iraq's use of CW in the war with Iran can be divided into three distinct phases:

1983 to 1986--used in a defensive role; typically to deflect Iranian human-wave assaults. In 1984 Iraq became the first nation to use a nerve agent on the battlefield when it deployed Tabun-filled aerial bombs during the Iran-Iraq war. Some 5,500 Iranians were killed by the nerve agent between March 1984 and March 1985. Tabun kills within minutes. Some 16,000 Iranians were reported killed by the toxic blister agent mustard gas between August 1983 and February 1986.

1986 to early 1988--iraq adapts use against Iran to disrupt Iranian offensive preparations.

early 1988 to conclusion of the war-- Iraq integrated large nerve agent strikes into its overall offensive during the spring and summer of 1988 leading to the ceasefire.

In 1981, Iraq started producing the blister agent mustard (HD). The quality of the mustard agent was good (not less than 80 per cent pure) and was such that the agent could be stored for long periods, either in bulk or in weaponized form.

Production of the nerve gases tabun (GA) and sarin (GB) started in 1984 and the method of production changed over time in order to resolve stabilization problems.

The tabun produced was poor, being of a maximum purity of 60 per cent. As a result, the agent did not store well and could only be stored for a limited period. Furthermore, Iraq experienced problems in the production of tabun owing to salt blockages forming in pipes during synthesis. Because of these problems, Iraq refocused its nerve agent research, development and production efforts on sarin (GB/GF).

The sarin produced was also of poor quality (maximum purity of 60 per cent when solvent is taken into account) and so too could only be stored for short periods. In order to overcome this problem, Iraq resorted to a binary approach to weaponization: the precursor chemicals for sarin (DF 2/ and the alcohols cyclohexanol and isopropanol) were stored separately for mixing in the munitions immediately prior to use to produce a mixture of two G-series nerve agents, GB and GF. Given that the locally manufactured DF had a purity of more than 95 per cent and the alcohols were imported and of 100 per cent purity, this process could be expected to yield relatively pure sarin.

Iraq also had a research and development program for the production of a further nerve agent, VX. According to Iraq's 1995 account, VX was the focus of its research efforts in the period after September 1987. Iraq has stated that between late 1987 and early 1988, a total of 250 tons of phosphorous pentasulphide and 200 tons of di-isopropylamine were imported, these being two key precursors required for the production of VX. For the other precursors required, Iraq claims to have used only approximately 1 ton of methyl phosphonyl chloride (MPC) from a total of 660 tons produced indigenously. The remaining MPC is claimed to have been used to produce DF, then used in GB/GF production. The fourth precursor required for VX, ethylene oxide, was generally available, being a multi- purpose chemical.

The British government has asserted that Iraq developed large stocks of "Agent- 15". It is apparently a glycollate similar in effect to the agent BZ, an incapacitant once produced by the United States. If this is correct, exposure to about 100 milligrams in aerosolized form would be sufficient to incapacitate. Symptoms, which begin within 30 minutes of exposure and may last several days, include dizziness, vomiting, confusion, stupor, hallucinations, and irrational behavior. The US Army considered BZ to be too unpredictable in its effectiveness to be useful on the battlefield, and all US stocks were destroyed.

Chemical Ali earned his name “honestly”, Al-Majid was captured following the 2003 invasion of Iraq and was charged with war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. He was convicted in June 2007 and was sentenced to death for crimes of genocide against the Kurds committed in the al-Anfal campaign of the 1980s for the use of WMD's against Kurdish civilians.

BARBARA McDONALS, you're just silly. You weren't protecting America you were a tool of the MIC. Yes I served in the army and I decided no way would I pick up a rifle except in the defense of my country. You aren't defending the US you're killing civilians in their countries that never threatened or harmed you or you country. And don't bring up 9/11, that was Saudis, if you believe the official version which I do not, most of those hijackers are still alive. I also happen to know Mohammed Atta blew himself up in Israel in June of 2001. You serve corporations not your country.

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/site/story/osama-was-neither-weak-nor-frail-wife/1/137500.html

"He was neither weak nor frail," bin Laden's youngest wife Amal Ahmed Abdulfattah told Pakistani investigators.

The 29-year-old Yemeni told them that bin Laden had recovered from two kidney operations a decade or more ago in southern Afghanistan, in part by using homemade remedies, including watermelon, the New York Times reported.

She was apparently the one shot by US special forces commandos in the leg as she rushed towards them in an effort to protect her husband.

A lot of great comments and information...........Thank you Daily Bail commentor to Barbara for ME. I really did not know how to respond to her. I am Merchant Marine. My uncle was shot down over Italy in WW II, survived but his co pilot did not. Unfortuneatly, many intelligent men and women TRUST what the government tells them about protecting our freedoms. If we have such freedom to speak our minds, for example, how come most of the best information now comes from places like lthe Daily Bail and other online sources, where the everyday "speakers/writers" ARE NOT EDITED and not any more from mainsteam print or media like CBS, NBC, etc........................??? Thanks for the compliments on my post..........Regards. Leo

From before the time of Christ cultures and religions in Palestine and other Middle Eastern geographical areas had the practice of burying their dead soon after the relative had died. The main reason was that the body began rapidly to decompose, especially in times of desert heat. That is why Christ’s body, for example, was buried after being wrapped with sweet smelling spices in cloth. Almost all cultures throughout history and throughout the World only buried dead men and woman at sea WHEN IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO BURY THEM ON LAND BEFORE THE BODY BEGAN TO DECAY. The only main exception to that was when someone requested to be buried at sea. But now, for the last hundred years, the World has electricity and refrigeration. Therefore, if there are good reasons not to bury someone immediately after death, the capability is now available to preserve the body until the family wants and is ready to bury their loved one.

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when from the first we practice to deceive……………………………….......”

The main reason given by the U.S. Government is that they didn’t/don’t want to show pictures of Bin Laden’s body because it will be inflammatory to the enemy. Once they killed Bin Laden (and I do not think they did kill him in that raid at that compound) the least inflammatory thing they could have done, after the U.S. examination and identification of Bin Laden, would have been to “put him on ice” and contact the family in Saudi Arabia and have said “out of respect for our deceased archenemy we invite you, the family,” (Bin Laden’s family) to come and claim his body for a proper Muslim funeral. Also, by doing that there would have been NO DOUBT that it was him, no doubting the government’s word….Doesn’t this sound like a more intelligent, truthful and LESS INFLAMATORY TO THE ENEMY scenario?

BUT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE HIS BODY…….. you say you buried it at sea and you begin creating your mythology of a great intelligence treasure trove gathered, a gold mine of future Al Qaeda planned attacks etc., pictures of him, videos (obtained 5-7 years ago after he died from kidney failure?) all because of our Hero President, Barack Obama. All myth, all daily propaganda to make the public forget about ObamaCare, the Dire Economy etc and it goes on and on and on, each day.

The week leading up to the Bin Laden Assassination, Barack Obama’s credibility and popularity was at its lowest so far. That was the week of the Clown, Donald Trump, getting Obama to produce a computer generated birth certificate “of sorts.” Anyway, I think our government, some certain other governments and the War Making Business Machine have all been so corrupted that I only believe it IF I SEE IT. “And I ain’t seen nothing yet.”

One final note. In the early 1500’s the Muslim sea pirate, Barbarrosa, had captured some soldiers of Charles of Spain, soldiers who were fighting this pirate in Algiers. At first Charles paid ransom. Barbarossa kept the ransom but killed the men. Then Charles paid a ransom to have the bodies returned. Again, Barbarossa kept the ransom but threw the dead bodies into the Mediterranean Sea. Barbarossa wrote at the time “if the parents of any of the dead ever came to Algiers, they would not know the burial place of their father or brother, nor be able to see the ashes, but only the waves.” Uh huh, no pictures, don’t want to incite the enemy……

Cordially,

Leo McCormick

I did not mention oil as you requested, or Israel. The question you should be asking is where did the WMD's go? The tonnage located and destroyed nowhere closely matches the tonnage produced.

Granted like a moron Bush telegraphed his desire to go into Iraq for dear ole Daddy, so it gave plenty of time to stash/ sell/ etc., Saddam's remaining stock of nerve gas.

Jon Stewart lectures to us on the morality of war when he supports the silencing of free speech on the other hand, and puts a muzzle (Hate Speech Laws) on those who want to speak out against the war and explain to the people how it is the Zionist Jews like Stewart and his brethren who put America into the Middle East.

He is just a liberal shill. He has been promoting the Democrats and the liberal agenda like nobody's business.

Now the truth is out--both the Dems and the Repubs are the same with just minor differences in social policy.

Trust nobody in mainstream media. Don't promote them. Don't elevate them to the role of sages.
