Dylan Ratigan: "Sen. Judd Gregg Is Lying To Your Face About Profits From TARP" (Must See CLIP)

Outstanding clip from last week.  Runs just 3 minutes.  Ratigan sets the record straight as he attacks Sen. Gregg for pushing the Wall Street fabrication regarding TARP payback.

  • "So when someone like Sen. Gregg starts lying to your face about how much money they made us with their bank giveaways, tell him he's $2 trillion short, and we can talk about the interest they owe us later."

mark mchugh...ratigan addresses some of the concerns you raised in comments from the last ratigan clip...in other words the bank bailout was much bigger than just TARP...about $4 trillion bigger in fact...

Bobble-head Nation, that's what it is.

There's a whole army out there of media people and politicians spouting that TARP was profitable. This is the best idiot test since "The Emporer's New Clothes."

DB,

Agreed. TARP has become a phrase that has lost all rational meaning (much like the phrase "cold, hard cash"). What we now call TARP has nothing to do with Paulson's plan (i.e. to purchase Troubled Assests). It fell under the "or whatever the hell else we feel like doing with your money," phrasing in the TARP bill.

"Whatever else" became the "Capital Purchase Program" and got to keep the TARP brand name because it was funded by the $700 B appropriated for purchasing troubled assets.

Wierder still, this can't be called the "Capital Purchase Program" with a straight face anymore either. The terms of the CPP can be found here:

"So when someone like Sen. Gregg starts lying to your face about how much money they made us with their bank giveaways, tell him he's $2 trillion short, and we can talk about the interest they owe us later."

Sen. Gregg is a classic example of what is happening to the bloated, incompetent, corrupt bureaucracy known as the Federal Government of the United States. These members of Congress who lie like hell to get a bill voted in for their elite campaign donors, and then lie like hell to keep the voters from realizing how bad they have been taken to the cleaners. It's the way things work in the Congress and most of the members don't really give a damn if they get caught in a lie or not. They'll just tell another lie to cover up the first one. They know their donors will have an excellent position or retirement package set up for them if they get the boot.

I'm sure the 114 House Reps. that rolled on HR-1207 are going to get a major payday at some point in time. Hell that was their reason for cosponsoring the bill in the first place. These folks know how to work the system and leverage isn't limited to financial products on Wall St.

It appears that doing anything that will benefit the middle class majority or actually straighten out the mess Wall St. and the FED have caused is against the wishes of the Corporate elite's, so Congress and the rest of the Fed. Govt. with the help of mainstream media is putting out a stream of B.S. That they hope will keep people too busy shoveling to keep from getting buried instead of picking up a shotgun and heading for Wall St. or D.C.

Only problem with that is there are more and more people getting clear of the B.S. and most of the folks I know who have, are really pissed. The next four to six years may be real interesting for the Fed. Govt. If it doesn't change it's ways and start listening to the ninety eight percent of the citizens of this country they're supposed to be working for, or at least the forty percent that vote, the people may say enough is enough and give them and the whole damn system the boot and start over from scratch.

How about public campaign financing, two terms period, no lobbies, toss all the Amendments on the Constitution and future Amendments have to be voter approved. Healthcare the same for everyone, no special programs for politicians. 15% personal income tax, 15% corporate income tax, 10% Federal Sales Tax. No loopholes period. And banks have to be banks, not gambling casinos.

Good Stuff, Sage.

Here's the way I'm going to explain these "TARP made money" lying kooks to the general public that doesn't want to be bothered with specifics:

"All profits from TARP are required to go toward paying down the national debt, right? (FYI that's true) Do you know how much we paid down the national debt since TARP was signed into law?"

NEGATIVE THREE TRILLION DOLLARS!!!

Yeah, thanks to "profitable" programs like TARP every man woman and child is 10 grand further in the hole then they were 20 months ago. So if you've got a family of four, the government is putting you $2,000 a month further in debt, every single month.

With "recoveries" like this, who needs depressions?

Good point, mark mchugh.

Tim Geithner says he's got a 700B revolving bailout fund AND the funds go to pay down the national debt. You figure that one out, boys and girls.

Got public hangings? Happy (belated) Bastille Day, Daily Bailers.

Gomp and texasdar,

"What would we do with all of them walking down our streets job-less & Not Knowing How to Work ?"

Send the young ones to the military where they can learn a job and maybe actually do some good for the country. WalMart would probably hire the old ones, or better yet! make their special interest masters take care of them. If they won't take care of them, fine the hell out of em for letting their pets run loose.

Sage,

The young ones are to precious, the old ones are to pure, the special interest masters will throw them away like a used condom when they are done with them. And they will revel in their own glory...

Ratigan is so right, on so many levels. He is the only person with a show that constantly calls out the criminals like Judd Gregg. If I get to sit on Gregg's jury, I will find him guilty.
