I've always wondered what it was like working at Madoff's firm. You sit at a desk, analyzing stocks that you never trade (since his firm never made trades). What do you do with your research? Do you send it to Bernie via email or do you use the office courier (since Madoff's company never prepared electronic reports for clients but printed them out and sent hard copies via snail mail)?

How many Bloomberg terminals were in Madoff's trade-less office anyhow? If it was 0, didn't anyone wonder why? And if was say 5, didn't anyone get suspicious that no one was using them, ever? Or did Bernie hire decoys who appeared to make trades?

And don't forget that the S.E.C. investigated the guy like 5 separate times. What the fuck did they see at the physical office? It had to be weird since unlike every other financial office in the world, it wasn't making any trades. Did Madoff hire interior decorator spies to make his office seem reasonably normal?

Just in terms of visuals, the Madoff case remains easily the biggest WTF in corporate history...

P.S. I've mailed several letters to Madoff at his federal prison in Butner, NC trying to get a meeting. He hasn't answered. I recently made the acquaintance of a highly placed official connected with NC prisons and may try this route if Bernard keeps rebuffing me.
