Fiscal Responsibility Act: Will Spending Cuts Hurt Politicians?

It's not the pay it is the perks...

http://dcrepublican.com/2009/02/17/strange-congress-congressional-perks-you-pay-for/

Such as...Travel to far-flung destinations as well as to home states and districts. Despite recent attempts to toughen gift and travel rules, “junkets” are still readily available prerogatives for many Members.

After about 6 or 7 years, their pay will be cut in half.

Wouldn't that be nice...

I hate to agree with Z ( I mean really, REALLY hate). but he's right, it's NOT the pay ..it's the PERKS such as insider dealing, gifts, sexual favors, influential authority, bribes and (perhaps best of all) IMPUNITY that comes along with it that these MF's enjoy.

Within a few years of implementation, it will then be "pay to play", LOL.

A cannibal was walking through the jungle and came upon a restaurant operated by a fellow cannibal. Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu...

Tourist: $5.00

Broiled Missionary: $10.00

Fried Explorer: $15.00

Baked Democrat or Grilled Republican: $100.00

The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, "Why such a price difference for the politicians?"
The cook replied, "Have you ever tried to clean one? They're so full of shit, it takes all morning."

Barney looks like he has to shit by the way.

Excuse the snark, DB.

Many of us don't remember the details from grade school, so when you post something like this, you should also post a little sub-segment entitled, "How a Bill becomes completely forgotten."

I couldn't resist.

Trillions for Wall Street

By MIKE WHITNEY

Increasing the money supply does nothing when interest rates are already at zero and consumers are slashing spending. Bernanke has added over $1.25 trillion to bank reserves but consumer borrowing, spending and confidence are still flat on the canvass. The problem is demand, not the volume of money. Bernanke knows what to do, but he refuses to do it. He'd rather line the pockets of bondholders, bankers and rentiers. This is from Calculated Risk:

"This report from the National League of Cities (NLC), National Association of Counties (NACo), and the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) reveals that local government job losses in the current and next fiscal years will approach 500,000, with public safety, public works, public health, social services and parks and recreation hardest hit by the cutbacks.

The surveyed local governments report cutting 8.6 per cent of total full-time equivalent (FTE) positions over the previous fiscal year to the next fiscal year (roughly 2009-2011). If applied to total local government employment nationwide, an 8.6 percent cut in the workforce would mean that 481,000 local government workers were, or will be, laid off over the two-year period."

The cutbacks will ravage local governments, state revenues and public services. Emergency facilities by the Fed provided $11.4 trillion for underwater banks and non banks, but nothing for the states. The GOP is helping the Fed strangle the states by opposing additional aid for Medicare payments and unemployment benefits. Many cities and counties will be forced into bankruptcy while Goldman Sachs rakes in record profits on liquidity provided by Bernanke. It's a disaster.

The bottom line? When Wall Street is hurting, money's never a problem. But when the states are on the brink of default and 14 million workers are scrimping to feed their families, it's time for belt-tightening. Explain that to your kids.

Goverment jobs at 0%.................American Jobs at 20%..........the goverment comes up with 9% unimployment ?

Palin: Obama lacks 'the cojones' to tackle immigration
By Matt DeLong

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Sunday that Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) has "the cojones" that President Obama "does not have" to take on illegal immigration. Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Palin blasted Obama for suing Arizona to block the state's controversial new law without addressing "sanctuary cities" -- in which local law enforcement are prohibited from asking people about their immigration status.

America loks more and more like Russia.

Yes, we got a black president but he is just an incompetent, lying, marxist puppet in the hands of his masters. Our political landscape is becoming no different from Russia:

Terrible corruption here in America and there in Russia
Oligarchy is running country here and there
Russian president Medvedev is just Putin's puppet and Obama is just WallStreet banksters puppet
Russia has no democracy and America is losing it in a hurry (thanks to the staged 9/11 Patriot Act)
Russia cannot get by without a war ( Chechnya, Georgia, etc.,) and America cannot (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, etc.,)
Russian secret police controls their Parliament and WallStreet Hebrew mafia controls our Congress
Yes, we are in a deep shit!

Crap, I grew up to all the ol Bluegrass music. Mom was the girl singer in the family band way back when she was young. Then, it dont matter if its bluegrass, or country, as long as its 3-4 part harmony. This is the stuff Ann and I loved to do......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4AxvJigInw&feature=related

or................. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bkgwn8ZT_GU&feature=related

But we do have some bluegrass on our cd's. But dont compare me with real groups that can record in 10 million dollar recording stodios. I could sound like a real group too, if I could aford that kind of money.

What realy supprises me is you like my kind of music........? I dident know anybody still liked it.

FAT CATS=HANG 'EM HIGH

While the political dicourse has many subtopics like race, debt, military and socialism, it all boils down to this: "Who's really running the Show"?

The fact is, the source of all political problems and solutions can be found in this one simple question! Look at Ron Paul's focus and the subject of his books. Does he see the problem and the solution? Is he trying to tell us something?

While most of our problems flow from the fountain of concealed control, the beast can not be confronted if "we allow them" to remain hidden behind the veil of confusion. This is why the most salient question we can ask our politicians is - Who's really running the show! The fat cats or the People!

No doubt, the people feel like they have been snookered. If we can free the debate from the fog of perphireal issues - then and only then do the patriots have a fighting chance.

Does anyone think this will pass? These are the same guys that vote to increase their salaries. A good idea, but it will never pass.
Jul 29, 2011 at 1:38 AM | Unregistered CommenterCmdrZ
Of course this proposed law would never pass -- but I like the idea of it. And yes, it really is the perks more than the pay, including the perk of not being bound by laws (like insider trading restrictions) that apply to we mere mundanes. Even if the pay cut law was passed, they would not follow it, and no one could arrest them. Just like they fail to pass balanced budgets. Did you know that it is a law since 1981 that all US federal budgets be balanced? Look up the last section of Public Law 95-435. It was passed as an amendment to the Bretton-Woods Agreement.

These politicians refuse to be bound by law.
They control the Courts.
No "Law Enforcement" officers will arrest them.
They can not be impeached by We The People, only by other politicians.
They control who gets nominated for office.
They control who is allowed to vote.
They control how the votes are counted.
They control how the media report their deeds.
They refuse to be shamed by public opinion.
The standing military will not attack them.

Are you beginning to see the problem? Can you see any workable options?
