I can remember someone jokingly stating in some financial blog I read that U.S. financial institutions had run out of bubbles to spin and then facetiously added that maybe they should start a new one based on investing in clouds. That's right, he suggested issuing derivatives based on those puffy and billowy masses of water and air.

Then suddenly -lo and behold- the government announces Cap and Trade. An idea based on pretty much the same concept, albeit in the U.S. government's case those puffy and billowy masses of air and water are considered 'contaminants'.

Which is why EVERYONE READING THIS SHOULD TAKE HEED!. Be forewarned, my friend on that blog also suggested that the government might eventually install fart meters into every citizen's anus in order to tax people based on their methane emmissions.
