You Wanted Proof That Wall Street Owns Washington?

New documents reveal that former marine Scott Olsen took a tear gas canister to the head, and suffered brain damage, courtesy of Wall Street.

Learn to love the Domestic Security Alliance Council.

This is a shocking report.  Read the summary here:

FBI Documents Reveal Secret Nationwide Occupy Monitoring

Consider yourself excused if you missed this story during the holidays.  How interesting that after 12 months of FOIA delays and outright lies from the FBI, the documents were finally released between Christmas and New Years when no one was paying attention.  So why in the hell was the Richmond Federal Reserve monitoring Occupy Tampa?

How The FBI Worked With Wall Street Banks To Destroy Occupy

Guardian

By Naomi Wolf

New documents prove what was once dismissed as paranoid fantasy: totally integrated corporate-state repression of dissent.

It was more sophisticated than we had imagined: new documents show that the violent crackdown on Occupy last fall – so mystifying at the time – was not just coordinated at the level of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local police.  The crackdown, which involved, as you may recall, violent arrests, group disruption, canister missiles to the skulls of protesters, people held in handcuffs so tight they were injured, people held in bondage till they were forced to wet or soil themselves – was coordinated with the big banks themselves.

The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, in a groundbreaking scoop that should once more shame major US media outlets (why are nonprofits now some of the only entities in America left breaking major civil liberties news?), filed this request.

The document – reproduced here in an easily searchable format – shows a terrifying network of coordinated DHS, FBI, police, regional fusion center, and private-sector activity so completely merged into one another that the monstrous whole is, in fact, one entity: in some cases, bearing a single name, the Domestic Security Alliance Council.  And it reveals this merged entity to have one centrally planned, locally executed mission.  The documents, in short, show the cops and DHS working for and with banks to target, arrest, and politically disable peaceful American citizens.

The documents, released after long delay in the week between Christmas and New Year, show a nationwide meta-plot unfolding in city after city in an Orwellian world: six American universities are sites where campus police funneled information about students involved with OWS to the FBI, with the administrations' knowledge (p51); banks sat down with FBI officials to pool information about OWS protesters harvested by private security; plans to crush Occupy events, planned for a month down the road, were made by the FBI – and offered to the representatives of the same organizations that the protests would target; and even threats of the assassination of OWS leaders by sniper fire – by whom? Where? – now remain redacted and undisclosed to those American citizens in danger, contrary to standard FBI practice to inform the person concerned when there is a threat against a political leader (p61).

As Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, executive director of the PCJF, put it, the documents show that from the start, the FBI – though it acknowledges Occupy movement as being, in fact, a peaceful organization – nonetheless designated OWS repeatedly as a "terrorist threat":

"FBI documents just obtained by the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF) … reveal that from its inception, the FBI treated the Occupy movement as a potential criminal and terrorist threat … The PCJF has obtained heavily redacted documents showing that FBI offices and agents around the country were in high gear conducting surveillance against the movement even as early as August 2011, a month prior to the establishment of the OWS encampment in Zuccotti Park and other Occupy actions around the country."

Hilliard points out the close partnering of banks, the NYSE and at least one local Federal Reserve with the FBI and DHS, and calls it 'police-statism':

"This production [of documents], which we believe is just the tip of the iceberg, is a window into the nationwide scope of the FBI's surveillance, monitoring, and reporting on peaceful protestors organizing with the Occupy movement … These documents also show these federal agencies functioning as a de facto intelligence arm of Wall Street and Corporate America."

The documents show stunning range: in Denver, Colorado, that branch of the FBI and a "Bank Fraud Working Group" met in November 2011 – during the Occupy protests – to surveil the group.  The Federal Reserve of Richmond, Virginia had its own private security surveilling Occupy Tampa and Tampa Veterans for Peace and passing privately-collected information on activists back to the Richmond FBI, which, in turn, categorized OWS activities under its "domestic terrorism" unit.  The Anchorage, Alaska "terrorism task force" was watching Occupy Anchorage. The Jackson, Mississippi "joint terrorism task force" was issuing a "counterterrorism preparedness alert" about the ill-organized grandmas and college sophomores in Occupy there.  Also in Jackson, Mississippi, the FBI and the "Bank Security Group" – multiple private banks – met to discuss the reaction to "National Bad Bank Sit-in Day" (the response was violent, as you may recall).  The Virginia FBI sent that state's Occupy members' details to the Virginia terrorism fusion center.  The Memphis FBI tracked OWS under its "joint terrorism task force" aegis, too. And so on, for over 100 pages.

Jason Leopold, at Truthout.org, who has sought similar documents for more than a year, reported that the FBI falsely asserted in response to his own FOIA requests that no documents related to its infiltration of Occupy Wall Street existed at all.  But the release may be strategic: if you are an Occupy activist and see how your information is being sent to terrorism task forces and fusion centers, not to mention the "longterm plans" of some redacted group to shoot you, this document is quite the deterrent.

Occupy Oakland and Scott Olsen:

---

---

A protester shows his wound after the police shot him with a rubber bullet while he helped carry Scott Olsen.  The bullet had to be removed from his body.

The Oakland police violated their own rules (page 9), and violated the Geneva Convention against targeting wounded combatants or those attempting to render medical aid.  Amnesty International has condemned the use of tear gas as well as the actions of Mayor Jean Quan of Oakland, who said the measures were justified.

The Obama administration and Eric Holder have shown no interest in investigating.

After Scott Olsen, a two-tour Iraq war veteran, suffered a skull fracture Tuesday when police shot Occupy Oakland protestors with rubber bullets and threw flash bang and tear gas grenades at them, you might think that the Justice Department would investigate.

After all, the Justice Department has the power and responsibility to investigate state and local police violations of Americans’ constitutional rights.

Sorry, Scott Olsen. Sorry, Occupy. No such luck.

So the "Domestic Security Alliance Council" freely discusses the option of assassinating unarmed anti-bank protesters on the one hand, while on the other hand the FBI creates a fake terror plot with a fake bomb starring a fake terrorist from Bangladesh, who allegedly wants to blow up the NY Federal Reserve?

The real terrrorists are always such lummoxes in exposing themselves...

And yet the bank-sponsored and state-supported assassination plots against people exercising their first amendment rights go wholly unreported by the media, whereas a plot involving a fake bomb is given front page coverage--as a real terror plot--in the mainstream media.

Orwellian indeed, Naomi. Right down to the state-sponsored media outlets that propagate fake news by real terrorists.

That's not how I read it. I thought she way saying that there were assassination threats in the file made by outsiders, but the FBI won't reveal who made these threats. It's not completely clear.
Jan 4, 2013 at 1:29 AM | Registered CommenterDailyBail
It's not clear who made the threats only due to the redactions. Information can redacted from documents produced pursuant to FOIA requests. Next to the redactions you'll find codes corresponding to the section of the FOIA statute that permits the redaction.

In the margin by the redactions next to the sniper reference on p. 61 of the FOIA documents at issue are the codes "b6" and "b7C". These sections protect "[n]ames and identities of personnel as well as references to administrative and non-judicial punishment."

http://www.cpf.navy.mil/content/foia/washington/Redaction_Citations.pdf

Thus, the most reasonable inference is that redacted names are not outsiders, but rather "personnel," i.e., alleged law enforcers.

What do you call actively and knowingly crushing every constitutional freedom defined in the founding document of a nation?

What kind of human scum plans to attack and assassinate kids with the gumption to speak out against those with the most power?

"What kind of human scum plans to attack and assassinate kids with the gumption to speak out against those with the most power?"

Those with the most power of course, they'll kill anybody who threatens their agendas.

"What do you call actively and knowingly crushing every constitutional freedom defined in the founding document of a nation?"

Very difficult question.

"Treason," while accurate, doesn't go far enough to capture the massive number of highly-positioned perpetrators who are in on it.

"Conspiracy" also falls short because the deed is largely done.

"Constitutional crisis" also describes what's happened, but conveys neither the violence nor the criminality of the perpetrators.

"Coup d'etat" doesn't really work, either, because while the law has been jettisoned, many of the criminals doing the most damage were elected.

"Game Set Match, Satan" will have to suffice for now...

TR I don't think the rules changed all that much with these guys, I just think that with Bush and Clinton there was a massive move to consolidate the financial institutions into these behemoths that we now see. As the consolidation has contiued the power has also become concentrated into the oligarchy. When a person is thrown into jail for stealing a glazed donut and another is allowed to walk away with 1.2 billion in cash of other peoples money, then the picture is crystal clear just how far this problem has gone.

TR--

While there's definitely been a rules change, I respectfully disagree as to timing. At a minimum it traces back to Bush 43.

The core problem at work is not financial, it's legal: extremely wealthy people are committing crimes and the DOJ makes up reasons why they can't be prosecuted (it's too hard to prove or it'll upset the financial system). Non-prosecution is one side of the legal crisis coin.

The flip side of the coin, which of course is owned by financially elite criminals, is that ordinary people's rights are not only being stripped away, but they're being stripped away using pretexts that are completely ridiculous. The war on terror has raged now for a decade at a cost of about $1 trillion per year, but yet NOT A SINGLE TERRORIST has ever been caught. What we get in lieu of real live terrorists who can be interrogated are (1) absurd stories about dead terrorists (OBL, anyone?) or (2) fairy tales about fake terrorists (e.g., Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, who purported to "terrorize" the NY Fed with an admittedly fake bomb and with the officiously overweening participation of the FBI).

The war on terror is straight out of Orwell's 1984, where it was a perpetual war waged not for purposes of winning but rather to consume labor and resources and drum up jingoism among most of the population, who didn't see through the propaganda.

In the U.S., it was George Bush who began the steady and obsessive rape of the constitution, although Obama has certainly done a fine job expanding this legal depradation--all based on threats from non-existent terrorists.

Nice trade we've made, eh? Real freedom for pretend safety. "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." --Ben Franklin

Bingo.

If I were a betting man, I would go with the concept that NYPD, LAPD and CPD(Chicago Police Department) loyalties will be with a foreign entity, The City of London to be exact. Remember England is 10XGDP in debt and queen lizard proved herself most able to manage the affairs of state by being the most cold blooded and treacherous of her sisters. Two of queen lizard's sisters were put in mental hospitals for life and her other two sisters were calling her queen by the time Lizard was 15. This while the parents looked on. The concept of a simple domestic based 'Wall Street corruption' does NOT consider domestic media and government factions involved with and participating in casting false aspersions on the motive behind the people in the 'Occupy Movement' and the crimes of Wall Street. These crimes are being glossed over by a considerable number of officials and ALL corporate news sources.

An interesting table form report would have the details of participation of the congressional vermin in the freemasons, Rhodes Scholarship program, Skull and Bones Society, Knights of Malta, Knights Templar(phony ones), and other Anglophile and jesuit domestic conspiratorial cliques. Madison, Jefferson, Washington, Jackson, Lincoln, John Kennedy, et al WARNED us about this treachery AT LENGTH. America FAIL.

Let us work towards criminal prosecutions and civil actions against those "public servants" who breached and abused the public trust, selling themselves out easily to the first attractive buyer to come along.

Every citizen has the right to file their own criminal charges with each state's attorney general. Certainly some will be ignored, but if hundreds or thousands of people take the approach, it will be difficult to ignore forever.

Class actions towards agencies may also be used to bankrupt any agency which took the path of corruption instead of service to the constitution and the public interest.

It's interesting that we've now seen 2 sets of protests erupt over the bailouts across the globe. In the U.S., the protests failed, the criminals remain free, and we have horrible unemployment as the result.

In Iceland, the protests succeeded, the bankers were prosecuted and jailed, and now unemployment is below 5%.

In analyzing this dichotomy, the inescapable conclusion is that what makes the difference between failed protests and successful ones is hurled eggs.
