World Stock Markets Slide - Nikkei Futures Down 16%

The Nikkei is on lunch break and futures have tanked as Armageddon fears grow after two more blasts rocked nuclear plants tonight.

Bloomberg - Global Stock Market Futures

PM Naoto Kan just finished addressing the nation, and told everyone within a 15-mile radius to stay indoors, as radioactive material spreads.

Radiation fears are now spreading to the Phillipines.

Japan Faces Potential Nuclear Disaster as Radiation Levels Rise

TOKYO — Japan faced the likelihood of a catastrophic nuclear accident Tuesday morning, as an explosion at the most crippled of three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station damaged its crucial steel containment structure, emergency workers were withdrawn from the plant, and a fire at a fourth reactor spewed large amounts of radioactive material into the air, according to official statements and industry executives informed about the developments.

“No. 4 is currently burning and we assume radiation is being released. We are trying to put out the fire and cool down the reactor,” the chief government spokesman, Yukio Edano, told a televised press conference. “There were no fuel rods in the reactor, but spent fuel rods are inside.”

Government officials also said the containment structure of the No. 2 reactor had suffered damage during an explosion shortly after 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

The post-'89 Nikkei is the scariest stock chart ever. A 20-year grind downward. The Nikkei is at about the same level it was when Ryne Sandberg was a rookie and gas was just over $1.00 a gallon.

back to the nikkei chart...and that 20 year slog downward has been accompanied by fiscal and monetary stimulus every step of the way...bernanke's entire plan of printing has been to avoid that chart for the u.s.

Oh yeah, that too. In all seriousness, Bernanke is either a complete idiot, or a psychopath. If I had screwed up as badly as he has, I would have already resigned in shame. But he seems to believe his own BS. It's breathtaking, really.

I started watching the Cubs at about age 8 when we got cable and access to WGN. I watched the Cubs religiously from about age 12 until sometime in the mid-90's. Ryno was always my favorite player. I will never forget the summer of 1990 when he was on his way to hitting 40 homers as a 2nd baseman. Of course, we didn't have internet back then -- you had to read The Sporting News and keep up with box scores in the newspaper. What a different world.

Uhh, guys, Bernanke ain't no fool nor is he incompetent. He's an enabler and all of this is going according to plan. Collapse world economies and currencies and establish a world currency controled by the IMF and yes, by the New World Order. Fun, Then reset the value of your net worth somewhere far below what it was and they begin another round or robbing you blind.

Look up, Zeitgeist Addendum and also, The American Dream Full Length Version.

Just a silly question: could the fuel rods, somehow, be quickly dragged into the ocean?
