Texas Governor Rick Perry fought to protect his frontrunner status in the Republican presidential contest, fending off criticism from rivals of his statements about Social Security in a debate tonight highlighting the campaign’s increasingly combative tone.

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney took aim at Perry’s characterization of the program as a “Ponzi scheme,” a stance some Republicans say could undercut Perry’s chances in a general election against President Barack Obama.

Ah, back in 1973 I was asked if I wanted to play the drums for the Hee Haw Show. I got talked out of it by the local show i was working with in "Sconsin"..........My wife said go, and we would meet up in 2mo. in Branson Mo. ( where ever the hell that town is ? ) after the seasons first half tapeing.........

They called, ya comming to Nashville Dar...........? Ah..............) NO ! ) I let the rest talk me out of it threw guilt for leaving my wife carring our 2 nd child and our 2 year old daughter behind....

How naive Dar was back then.......Oh, the phone number for the TV Set was "BR-549" ! I used it a lot on stage.....
