Can US President Barack Obama lead America away from fossil fuel dependency? German commentators don't think so. Some say he is in danger of turning into an idealistic, one-term president like Jimmy Carter.

US President Barack Obama's address from the Oval Office on Tuesday was supposed to be a moment of leadership during the worst environmental disaster in American history. But critics from across the political spectrum wondered afterwards whether he'd shown leadership at all. The geyser of oil in the Gulf of Mexico seems, technologically, to lie beyond anything either BP or the US government was prepared for, and Obama failed to mention any specific new ideas.

Hey DB...Michael Savage on Obama and General McChrystal

You won't find this truth in your Huffington Toast bible...

I can't wait for McChristal's book outing Obama as a fraud and a coward.

Rahm and Axelrod planned this entire media frenzy on McChrystal because of IRAN and ISRAEL which is NEXT.

"USA zombies have to change life style with small Maruti cars,Bikes, Scooters adoption like china & India and Collective living, era of Individual society is Over"

Maruti cars are coffins on wheels, unsafe for U.S. markets, as well as not capable of meeting emission standards, plus I am anti supporting foreign markets to help further destroy my nation. I will leave that to herdists and their "saviors", and their corporate masters. Many ride Motorcycles, like JTS and I, or as Gobie would say, JTS/ AB/ RLR, after all, he is the all wise several thousand year old dead Iranian wise guy, LOL.

Many are driving golfcarts, using biodiesel/ alcohol they are making themselves (both parties really hate this, no road usage tax), grow their own food and spices, and make their own cigs and alcohol, many ride bicycles, etc.

Communities are being built with retail and everything to serve these people with more independent beliefs, While both party herdists whine and snivel, and proudly remain hostages of the system. When you are caught in the middle of the herd, even if you wish to turn away from the cliff, you can't. The momentum pushes you forward...

If you listen carefully, you can hear millions of herdists calling for pizza right now...

"Zombies need to act and adopt new life style"

You have already missed the boat Ken, it has been growing for years, actually since the 70's, pick up a copy of Mother Earth News.

Gobie, Ken still posts hamburger, thankfully Steve keeps deleting it.

BP drilled so deep into the earth that it is extremely unlikely that the sea of oil they hit was made from fossils.

It appears that BP may have hit a massive deep channel of abiotic oil. That means that the oil was not produced from decaying matter but from chemical processes deep within the earth. It has been known for years that there was a possibility for abiotic oil to exist.

"Barack really wants to get away from Illinois politics," said Blagojevich, laughing.

Eventually the talk got around to a suggestion that they try a different route to convey the swap idea to the president: through soon-to-be first lady Michelle Obama.

“He’s a lot more hen-pecked than me,” Blagojevich said. “He listens to Michelle.”

Over the years, Hillary's evil heart has morphed her outer appearance into the fucking ass-ugly TROLL that she is today. No wonder Slick Willy tended to wander.

Someone PLEASE drive a wooden stake thru rhis creature's heart BEFORE the sun sets. Or at LEAST fetch me some holy water.

The “dead zone” created by a combination of methane gas and Corexit toxic rain, Madsen continues, will ultimately result in the evacuation and long-term abandonment of cities and towns within the 200-mile radius of the oil gusher.

“Plans are being put in place for the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Mandeville, Hammond, Houma, Belle Chase, Chalmette, Slidell, Biloxi, Gulfport, Pensacola, Hattiesburg, Mobile, Bay Minette, Fort Walton Beach, Panama City, Crestview, and Pascagoula,” Madsen writes.

On June 13, SoCal Martial Law Alerts (SCMLA) predicted that Gulf states would be evacuated. “Greg Evensen, a retired Kansas Highway Patrolman, estimates that 30-40 million people would need to be evacuated away from the Gulf’s coastline (i.e. at least 200 miles inland),” SCMLA reported.

T. Dar, solar is still in it's "infancy", prices will come down, and technology will improve. We would be a lot farther along if the incentives and investments had not been cancelled by Reagan after our last energy crisis to protect big oil.

It is good you are thinking, put realistic expectations together for needs and study upsides and downsides, there is no perfect solution, only what will serve your "need" best.
