The Republican Presidential Problem

What's the problem?  They don't have a candidate that voters like according to a revealing new poll from Rasmussen.  Hillary Clinton beats them all.  Easily.

---

Outside of Ron Paul, who wins virtually every Republican straw poll he is allowed to enter (but they've been excluding him lately), there is no viable candidate to battle Obama or perhaps even Hillary Clinton in 2012.

Romney, Gingrich and Palin are dead on arrival.  Yes, Sarah Palin's poll numbers are by far the worst of the three.  So who's left?  Scott Brown?  I seriously doubt it.  Pawlenty.  Good luck with that.  Paul Ryan from Wisconsin?  Gary Johnson from New Mexico?

Any ideas?  Me neither.  It's the Republican Presidential problem highlighted below.

---

New poll from Rasmussen:

U.S. voters think Hillary Clinton is more qualified to be president than Barack Obama, but most believe that both Democrats are more fit for the White House than three top Republicans interested in the job.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 57% of voters feel Clinton is qualified to be president, but 34% disagree and say she is not.

As for President Obama, 51% say he is fit for the job. However, 44% say he is not qualified to be president, even though he has now served 17 months in the job.

Nearly as many (49%) say former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, an unsuccessful candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 2008, is qualified to be president of the United States. Thirty-two percent (32%) say Romney is not qualified, but another 20% are not sure.

Just 35% of voters say former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is qualified to be the nation’s chief executive. Nearly half (48%) say Gingrich is not fit for the office. Seventeen percent (17%) are undecided.

As for Sarah Palin, ex-governor of Alaska and the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, only 26% feel she is qualified to be president, but 61% do not. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.

I know that the poll is shit because if you asked 100 Americans what they thought of Newt Gingrich, at least 25% would not know who he is.

Outside of Ron Paul, who wins virtually every Republican straw poll he is allowed to enter (but they've been excluding him lately), there is no viable candidate to battle Obama or perhaps even Hillary Clinton in 2012.

IN YOUR DREAMS DB!

zara...you're blind...i criticize both sides constantly...you know my bias...i think both parties are really just 1...the washington spending machine...i thought it was interesting poll...i would not vote for hillary...nor again for obama...

who is your candidate...and don't say giuliani...he has no chance...and check the record...ron paul has been winning the straw polls...he won cpac...which is the biggest...

Gen. Stanley McChrystal for president in 2012.

----------

would be interesting if he gains some stature now after the scandal...
Jun 23, 2010 at 12:03 PM | Registered CommenterDailyBail
if the american people were to vote on who should be in charge of afghanistan, who do you think they would vote for? obama or mcchrystal? mcchrystal is 4th generation military and a graduate of west point. used to run america's most secretive black ops.

why would mcchrystal let a degenerate drug user from rolling stone near him? something is not right here. there's more to the story...

why dismiss mcchrystal? cuz he said "bite me" instead of biden? did he offend biden? the same vice president who was playing with squirt guns on the white house lawn 2 weeks ago?

"would be interesting if he gains some stature now after the scandal... "

U.S. Presidents of both parties have had a long standing tradition of throwing our best and brightest military minds under the bus, ask Powell, and many more...

Right now it is Gingrich but I have yet to determine if he is in it for the long haul or just to sell more books and up his speaking engagement price. He also has a colorful past and the Dems love to throw stones from their glass houses. I also want to see if he will throw the Constitution in Barry's face (birth issue and all). If there is a candidate that walks on stage during the first debate with Obama and says...Here is a copy of my birth certificate, Mr. Soetoro, let's see yours. I would also like the next candidate to go after Barry's hidden past (fake Harvard degree and all). If the RNC fails to do a full scale investigation of Obama, his muslim faith and his radical past, I may have to look elsewhere for a candidate. My money is going to anyone who promises to investigate Barry's past, period.

Gingrich would rip Obama to shreds in a debate. Two people who have studied the Constitution, one thinks it is invaluable and one would wipe his ass with it if given the opportunity.

DB, even you must not believe half the things you say. You have a special place in your heart for Palin and you take every opportunity to put her in a bad light. So, were you just really confused the last time you pulled the voting lever?
Jun 23, 2010 at 6:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterZarathustra
Newt? You constantly blast Clinton for infidelity, tease the same with the tieless one, and endorse one of the same...

Ahh, the wonderful double standard of a pure herdist has raised its ugly head.

I disavow Newt as much as Clinton. The cliff is to the left, move along, move along...

Hear that sucking sound?
Jun 23, 2010 at 6:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterS. Gompers
DB...because you are often confused...he took a swing at me...so let us fight it out...

You are such a rebel Gomp (yes, I am laughing at you old man).

I make fun of Clinton because his marriage to Hillary has always been a ruse. We all know that Al hated Bill for always hitting on Tipper (just kidding).

Bill was brought up on perjury and obstruction of justice charges, the clip I post is him is hilarious. To me it is just Bill being Bill, funny in its own right. The Clintons are like a bad sitcom of a mismatched couple.

As I said in my original post on this, Gingrich will have to explain his dark side. He has the ability to beat himself with his past if he fails to make the election about Obama’s ineptness and hypocrisy.

Gomp, you have lost sooooo many battles with me. I kick your cane each time with ease. Why not get back in your corner and remember your place in the pack.

The double standard you so often like to bring up is in the news every day as Obama bitches like a girl about BP’s leadership while his thin skinned ass is being compared to Jimmy Carter.

Go ask your skinny wife to cook you some grits and get back in your lazy chair Gomp. You got herds on the brain, is that where you found her when she “raised her ugly head”? I will not comment on that giant sucking sound.
Jun 23, 2010 at 7:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterZarathustra
"Gingrich will have to explain his dark side. "

Bill and Newt are both bums of impecably low character.

"Gomp, you have lost sooooo many battles with me. I kick your cane each time with ease. Why not get back in your corner and remember your place in the pack. "

Now that is funny... Your pinhead is about to explode. The funniest part of your "ass kickens", and I do use that term extremely loosely, is when you go to another post and beg Steve to make it stop. And referring to others as all the same person...

You are truly a legend in your own mind, and master of square pegs in round holes...

"I will not comment on that giant sucking sound. "

I know, you can't, your mouth is full... Tell me that you truly believe that all who present themselves to the parties for "consideration", are truly the best and the brightest America has to offer.

Remember, one day I will teach you about respecting women... Just remember to ask for the party ticket in November, that way you will not have to think and make a decision for yourself.

I was not old enough to vote when your heroic peanut farmer of the U.N. was President.

"while his thin skinned ass"

I bet you would like to touch it, wouldn't you.

Obama, Biden Turn to Petraeus, a Man They Called an Utter Failure

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_062310/content/01125115.guest.html

BIDEN: Well, what I, uhh, I saw heard and learned is a little bit what you heard, uhh, from the general just a moment ago. Uhh, there's a big disconnect between, uhh, the truth of the matter and the reality. I mean the truth of the matter is that, uhhh, the America -- this administration's policy and the surge are a failure and that, uh, the surge, uh, which was supposed to stop sectarian violence, uh, long enough to get political reconciliation... There's been no political reconciliation.

OBAMA: We cannot impose a military solution on what has effectively become a civil war, and until we acknowledge that reality, we can send 15,000 more troops, 20,000 more troops, 30,000 more troops. Uh, I don't know any expert, uh, on the region or any military officer that I've spoken to privately, uh, that believes that that is gonna make a substantial difference on the situation on the ground.

WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!!!

By the way DB, it is the Republicans that have the problem right now, that is what you are reporting? Spending a little too much time on Huffington Toast? Come on, so silly.
Jun 24, 2010 at 9:33 AM | Unregistered CommenterZarathustra
zara...get a grip...gingrich has NO shot...the last guy you liked also had no shot...giuliani...you are not good with your predicitions...you seem to have very little sense of what others think of the candidates that you love...step outside your political box occasionally...

and you miss my point...i was trying to show that Republicans need a viable presidential candidate...nothing more...they are the party with the momentum currently, but they lack a national candidate...i wasn't criticizing the party...get some perspective...you are the most partisan person i've ever met...

and i don't think anyone argues with you on mcChrystal and petraeus...you think you have somehow discovered something groundbreaking, yet EVERY SINGLE news broadcast i saw yesterday made the same points as you...that obama used to criticize petraeus...

it's not much of a story when everyone is saying it...yet you berate me...i am so tired of your bull shit...

"DB...because you are often confused...he took a swing at me...so let us fight it out..."

Make no mistake, if I ever took a swing at you, you would be hitting the floor, but I will give you the first three punches. That way it is painfully obvious that you could not call sucker punch, or cheat, or any other lie of a eunich of the dreaded HOA.
