T. Boone Pickens New Plan: America Is Entitled To Iraqi Oil As Compensation For Fallen Soldiers (Poll Question)

CLICK PHOTO TO SEE VIDEO

Skip to the 4:40 mark of this CNBC clip. Pickens says "We should get a call on Iraqi oil for the 4,000 people we lost and the $2 trillion we've lost."  "We haven't got much out of Iraq that I can see that's helped America."

My first thought is that we dug our own grave in Iraq.  We acted unilaterally and without cause and now Pickens thinks we should be compensated for our trouble.

This is the height of American arrogance and imperialism.  We're gonna come in and screw up your country and its infrastructure, and we'll be taking ownership of your most strategic assets as a thank you.  Buh-bye.

Is Pickens right, do we deserve Iraqi oil as a thank you for our commitment to democracy?

Pickens is wrong, of course. But this is almost as wrong: " We acted unilaterally and without cause..."

We were part (ok, the majority of) a large alliance of countries that acted in Iraq early in the war. Granted, we're the last ones standing, but *hardly* unilaterally.

"Without cause" is specious too. Can you remember how *many* UN resolutions "required" Iraq to do A, B, and C, generally in reaction to Hussain's provocations against international peace and order? And how the resolutions were always ignored or subverted? *Good* cause is debatable (i.e., why should we *ever* care about UN resolutions, dictates, etc.), but we certainly had cause...

Frank seems to be "hard of thinking". The US persuaded and bribed a whole load of countries to join in the invasion to make it look less like naked aggression. Further as was proven post-invasion, Iraq had complied with the UN resolutions and dismantled it's WMD program. Every reason given pre-invasion has since proven to be false.

@Frank and @Kim

I vote with Kim on this one...who wrote:

I can't find a single thing I disagree with in her comment.

Pickens should be put in an un-armored HUMVEE and sent into Ramadi or Fallujah for about two weeks without ammunition or a soldier to protect his sorry treasonous ass.

and the the Iraqi's decide if his assholean STEAL THE IRAQI OIL idea has any merit.

I hope every single GOP fuck and DINOCRAT who voted for this MASS MURDER OF IRAQI'S AND U.S. SERVICEMENT ALIKE, IS TRIED FOR MURDER ONE FOR EVERY SINGLE WAR CASUALTY, AND THEN SUMMARILY DANGLED ON THE END OF A VERY STURDY ROPE.

it's time that there be retribution for this fucking cowardly war criminality of the U.S.S.A.
How many Iraqis died b/c of the war and the resulting chaos? 100's of thousands? They owe us nothing, it was the US plan to destroy the country and its infrastructure, then put in a friendly IRAQI leader who would say thanks for your help, take some oil.

I think the US tried that in Iran, didn't work so well did it?

T Boone has good ideas on gas, but this one is mind-numbingly arrogant and preposterous. American arrogance encapsulated.

If we had been invited by the Iraqi people to remove Sadam we could expect fair compensation for our efforts. This was not the case. We destroyed a country for weapons-of-mass-destruction that did not exist
