Steal Billions Like Dimon Blankfein And You're Doing God's Work, Sell $31 Of Pot And Go To Jail For 10 Years

Source - AOL

An Oklahoma woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling $31 of marijuana.

Patricia Marilyn Spottedcrow, a 25-year-old mother of four, and her mother, Delita Starr, 50, sold an $11 dime bag to a police informant in Oklahoma on Dec. 31, 2009. The informant returned two weeks later to buy $20 of marijuana. Spottedcrow, who worked in nursing homes before her arrest, told The Oklahoman she did it to get some extra money.

The women were charged with drug distribution and possession of a dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, because Spottedcrow's children were in the house during the transaction. They were offered plea deals of two years in prison but decided to enter a guilty plea instead, a gamble they took because neither had prior convictions and because the amount of drugs sold was so small.

The gamble did not pay off. Spottedcrow was given sentences of 10 years in prison for distribution and two years for possession, to run concurrently. When she was picked up to be taken to prison, she had marijuana in her jacket pocket, which led to another two-year concurrent sentence and a fine of nearly $1,300.

How much gange does $30 get you in Oklahoma? In Chicago it'd be about 1/4 of a quarter oz., or about a gram and a half since an ounce is never really an ounce. That's what my researchers tell me anyway.

Neither the AOL piece or the original Oklahoman source say whether Spottedcrow was convicted by a jury (some defendants waive their 7th amendment rights). If so, what is wrong with those people?

Stacy Herbert said it best on Max Keiser's show: Americans don't care about the theft of trillions of dollars by Wall Street as long as their neighbor doesn't get ahead of them economically with a new car or gadgets.

Weed, dope, cannabis, lemonade, mary jane, chillums, ace, ganja, Indiana hay, snop, paca lolo, loco, moocah, gunney, etc.

Gange is the one syllable slang term for the slang term ganja.

Hemp is not dangerous at all. It's completely non-toxic. This is fact, not opinion. The laws against marijuana originated as an act of industrial espionage, to eliminate the hemp industry (to open the market for Dupont's products). The latest scientific findings on marijuana are truly surprising, and suggest that it may be useful to help fight many forms of cancer (cannabinoids actually shrink tumors!), and to slow the progression of Alzheimer's. All this in addition to the numerous other medical applications of this most useful plant of all. Aside from the economic interests in keeping marijuana illegal, fundamentalists are the most vocal critics of this harmless herb; ironic, given that the Bible even proclaims that "God gave man every herb-bearing seed....". It's time for the reefer madness madness to stop. Marijuana is hurting no one, but the laws are destroying many innocent lives and tearing apart families, as well as wasting much needed funds. We should put all the resources being wasted on the lost "drug war" to work arresting pedophiles and murderers. We should free all those in prison for marijuana related offenses.

Interesting, Mick. Thanks. How's the quality?

In the midwest U.S. prices vary pretty widely. You can get a pound in rural Indiana for $1800 ($112.50 an ounce), decent but not great quality. Kush runs $425 an ounce in Chicago. Medical grade runs roughly the same, but you can save by getting a QP for $1300 or so. This information was compiled from Amish farmers and CME traders.

Noel--completely agree. What a waste of money pursuing "crimes" like these. Not to mention the fact that Patricia Spottedcrow's daughter will grow up without her mom for most of her childhood. What's the price tag on that? More than 3 dime bags, I guarantee you.

The fact is, though, that pot is damn close to being de facto (but not de jure) legal anyhow. In California, possession fines are low, with no jail. And with the passage of medical marijuana laws that allow "patients" some rather generous allotments, there is a lot of high-grade available in states like California, Oregon, and Michigan.

It strikes me as ridiculous for near-bankrupt states to pursue cases like Spottedcrow's when they could be generating revenue by legalizing and taxing the stuff.

I'm going to take out trademarks on Greenman and Dopenhagen now...

Marijuana is only against the law because of the million and one ways that Hemp can be used, destroying the pharmaceutical companies, and many of the Synthetics industries purpose for existence. George Washington Grew Pot, in fact he had the largest pot farm in the Americas at the time.. Ben Franklin smoked pot and grew pot. The Bill of Rights and and Declaration of Independence is also made of Hemp. Hemp is a wonder of Gods creations. It cures diseases, reliefs for suffering, calms nerves. You do not go out and beat your wife on pot, You do not drunk drive on pot. You do not die from pot. In all reality Marijuana represents freedom from tyranny and is the real reason it is outlawed. End of Story.

Can you imagine being freer to do what you want in Russia?

Russia to open marijuana retail chain

http://www.newsbcm.com/doc/726

Not that I'm advocating the use of it I don't think kids should use drugs!

But I think adults should be free to do as they please and I think people should be careful about wanting to take away rights even those of smokers that is a slippery slope and could lead to the loss of other rights.

This just proves that Americans are the biggest sheeple on the planet. They get ripped off to the tune of trillions of dollars by the banksters and their henchmen in politics...and then they sit around watching Internet porn and tuning their televisions to "Dancing With the Tards." So who cares? Americans aren't even human - they're robots on Prozac and Diet Coke.

Thanks for the links. The first two are total buzzkills.

I can't stop laughing at the third one, about Russian pot stores. Is that real? It's dated "01.04.11", which in some countries means 04/01/11. Are you sure it's not an April Fool's joke?

I mean, who writes like this?

--"It will be recalled that, as of December 2010, it is allowed by law to sell marijuana in Russia."--

You can almost hear the thick Russian accent coming off the page. Does anyone who writes English anywhere write like that?

THC is said to cure cancer. Dandelion flower is said to cure cancer. What do these two have to do with each other? There is a war against...the war on weeds and the war on nature. I watched a documentary "RUN FROM THE CURE" very interesting as well as giving hope to EVERYONE. I know there are Bevis and Buttheads here (search it) but this documentary had adults, middle age to seniors who were cured willing to testify of their cure. You can guess how the story plays out. It is THC, you cannot get high off of it, it is an oil that all living things produces...but this, this cure for cancer is illegal. Even if you child was dying the "GOVERNMENT" tells you you cannot but we can invade a country and then hand us the bill while they put poisons such as aspartame, MSG, canola oil, fluoride in water all POISON.
Wake up America; our creator has given us the cure why don't we use it? Does it not make sense? Did you know that Mr. Ford; the creator of moving vehicles was pro hemp he told stores of what a superior material it is.
It is time to take back America this time wisely. Si se puede! Yes we can!

Locking someone up for 10 years at $50 000 per year makes $5 000 000. Because of a few grams of cannabis. Interesting thinking there, judge. A scud missile directed with GPS coordinates to your house for a few hundred thousand? An investment.

I used to grow and ___ pot. Big deal. No body got hooked or hurt or financially ruined. But Weyerhaeuser and the Bronfmann corporation were seriously threatened that a liberalization of the pot laws would harm them financially. So they fed MORE MONEY to the standard compliment of mewling sons-of -bitches-congress and had the laws reaffirmed.
That's the key, If the mewlers aren't fed by us better than by the bankers and cheats, we catch hell. I forecast the next time real inquisition style chambers of perpetual discomfort are instituted, it will be for us to threaten our persecuters. And there will be a line to put their feet to the fire. They imprison these folks over a temporary, nonaddictive, petty, giggle and let those banker bastards rob and enslave the nation because their congressional mewling fucking brains CANNOT SEE. Other way around. Spottedcrow rejected a plea bargain deal and gambled on a trial. That gamble failed as the plea deal was for way less time than 10 years. But nothing in the source pieces indicates whether it was a bench trial or a jury trial.

What was the part about all the money being stolen "in the name of God" etc....vs. this poor girl getting caught selling $31 of pot and getting that big of a sentence! Something "smells very bad about this whole scene.....and I don't like the drug sellers at all....
but "fair" is "fair." Our prisons are crammed full of these "lesser" type (less dangerous) type criminals and something has to be done to keep this type of incarceration from happening. Having the lady "do her time" on week-ends, or some similar arrangement seems to be a better approach.....I would not be in favor of her not getting some type of punishment, for selling drugs is very serious business......but again I say, "fair" is "fair" and the judge in this case seemed to enjoy "putting this lady away" when I think if she had offered the lady some advice and counsel.....maybe she could have learned her lesson, and still been able to take care of her children. Tell us more about the "billions being stolen" and no one getting punished for such!

The government has been caught over and over and over selling drugs. Ever heard of the Iran Contra Scandal? It was a congressional hearing with Oliver North at the Helm. It seems the CIA was selling guns in South American Countries in exchange for Cocaine which they flew into Mena Arkansas. Oliver North was the key man on the ground, George Bush Sr was in charge of the CIA and guess who was governor of Arkansas at the time? You got it Bill Clinton. Then George Bush became president, Bill Clinton became president after that and Oliver North was given a Medal. Vietnam same thing ever see the movie American Gangster with Denzel Washington? That was based off a real story that really happened. What about Air America with Mel Gibson? That was another story based off of fact. What about the Bankers that smuggle the dirty money. CITI, Wachovia, Bank of America. Remember the Movie Scarface who was smuggling the money for Tony Montana? That is another movie based off of fact.

Hell, Harvard and Yale were created by Pirates and Opium smugglers sailing from Hong Kong to India for the purpose of selling drugs and raiding ships. They couldn't come back to England but the Queen instead allowed them to establish here in America. Creating the first Ivy league collages. Where these people are taught the basis of being a pirate and then go off to highly influential jobs at Wallstreet or some ABC compartmentalized government agency. Hence the world we are in today. Bankers stealing Billions of YOUR DOLLARS. People who deny these facts are living in a fantasy world and are the reason they continue to get away with murder and pillage of the poor. They cannot get away with it without our consent. The Biggest trick the Devil ever did was to convince man that he did not exist. Same with these men, we don't wish to believe that this is happening. Look up in the sky, Its a bird, its a jet, no its the CIA smuggling drugs from a third world nation coming to a school yard near you.

We worry about the little people who sell a dime sack so she can buy dinner tonight for her children. Fill up the Prisons that they too own and get grants from the government who get the money from you John/Jane Taxpayer to imprison these people. Enough is Enough.

Said better than I can from the Movie Network:

"I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

The Devil’s Dictionary of Post-Crisis Finance

http://blogs.reuters.com/breakingviews/2015/10/09/the-devils-dictionary-of-post-crisis-finance/

American writer Ambrose Bierce published “The Devil’s Dictionary” in 1911. Bierce’s acerbic definitions ranged from government to commerce and life in general. He displayed a profound understanding of finance, for example defining “riches” as “the savings of many in the hands of one”.

Breakingviews published a pioneering appropriation of his form in 2007, when the global financial crisis was barely beginning. Call it “The Original Devil’s Dictionary of Finance”. But it no longer seems adequate for the post-crisis task. Herewith part one – for the letters A to K – of the sequel, updated and enlarged for the world of hedge funds, private equity, structured finance, subprime equity and the like: “The Devil’s Dictionary of Post-Crisis Finance.”

Part two will be published next week.

A

Activist: One who makes importunate demands for financial engineering*.

Alpha: An investment return above that of a benchmark index, usually achieved by luck or by “gaming” the index.

Analyst: A stock puffer whose purpose is to generate brokerage commissions. See Chinese walls.

Arbitrage: The time-consuming and risky activity of buying an underpriced asset whilst simultaneously selling an equivalent overpriced asset. Eschewed by Wall Street, which instead profits from regulatory arbitrage, accounting arbitrage, jurisdictional arbitrage and fiscal arbitrage.

Asset price bubble: The most noticeable consequence of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s easy money policy. See ZIRP.

Auction house: A place where Wall Street high-flyers blow their windfall gains. See Contemporary art.

Austerity: Also known as “sado-fiscalism”. A forlorn attempt to stave off government bankruptcy.

B

Bandwagon: That which every investor jumps upon. “If you see a bandwagon, it’s too late.” (James Goldsmith, financier.)

Bank: An institution which, by applying leverage and mismatching assets and liabilities, earns short-term profit and generates long run losses.

Bankrupt: A person who has run out of liquidity. Also, the intellectual state of modern economics.

Basel: The Swiss home of the Bank for International Settlements, an institution which creates global banking rules thus setting the stage for regulatory arbitrage and, thereby, precipitating crises at regular intervals.

Behavioural finance: The field of study resting on the notion that an asset price bubble is the result of “irrational exuberance” (see Greenspan*) rather than the inevitable consequence of bad monetary policy and conflicts of interest on Wall Street.

Bell curve: A visual representation of the false assumption, baked into most financial models, that outcomes are what statisticians call “normally distributed”.

Bernanke, Ben: Former Fed chairman who failed to spot the housing bubble before it burst and in 2007 claimed that U.S. subprime mortgage problems were “contained”. After the Lehman Brothers bust, Bernanke succeeded in re-inflating the Greenspan* superbubble. Soon after leaving the Fed, he was rewarded with a job at Citadel, a hedge fund, which presumably didn’t hire Bernanke for his market insights. See Revolving door.

Biotech: A pharmaceutical Ponzi scheme of a company. See Burn rate.

Bitcoin: A digital tulip bulb.

Black swan: A common bird on Wall Street, renowned for its fat tail.

Bonus: In banks, a large payment out of short-term profit to retain “talent”. While a bank’s profit is generally illusory, bonuses endure.

BRIC: A “Bloody Ridiculous Investment Concept” (Peter Tasker, fund manager and author). An emerging bull market acronym comprising the first letters of Brazil, Russia, India and China coined by Jim O’Neill, a former member of theGoldman Sachs marketing department.

Burn rate: The alarming pace at which technology and biotechnology companies run through their cash piles.

Business school: Networking hotspot where young people pay large sums of money to have their scruples expensively removed. See MBA.

Buybacks: Debt-funded purchases of a company’s own shares in order to enhance growth in earnings per share. A tool to maximize the value of a chief executive’s stock options….
