Sickest Joke Of 2009: TIME Magazine Names Bernanke 'Person Of The Year'

Editor's Note - We are reprinting this story from last year as today marks the one year anniversary of this particular Bernanke abomination accomplishment.

---

TIME Magazine has named Federal Reserve Chairman Money-Buckets Bernanke as Person of the Year for 2009.

So when turbulence in U.S. housing markets metastasized into the worst global financial crisis in more than 75 years, he conjured up trillions of new dollars and blasted them into the economy; engineered massive public rescues of failing private companies; ratcheted down interest rates to zero; lent to mutual funds, hedge funds, foreign banks, investment banks, manufacturers, insurers and other borrowers who had never dreamed of receiving Fed cash; jump-started stalled credit markets in everything from car loans to corporate paper; revolutionized housing finance with a breathtaking shopping spree for mortgage bonds; blew up the Fed's balance sheet to three times its previous size; and generally transformed the staid arena of central banking into a stage for desperate improvisation. He didn't just reshape U.S. monetary policy; he led an effort to save the world economy.

In 2009, Bernanke hurled unprecedented amounts of money into the banking system in unprecedented ways, while starting to lay the groundwork for the Fed's eventual return to normality. He helped oversee the financial stress tests that finally calmed the markets, while launching a groundbreaking public relations campaign to demystify the Fed. Now that Obama has decided to keep him in his job, he has become a lightning rod in an intense national debate over the Fed as it approaches its second century.

Time Magazine actually featured Adolf Hitler on its cover 6 times during the 30's & 40's. Hang in there Ashley Dupre, I'm sure you'll get your shot at fame too, courtesy of Time Mag.!

What in the hell is going on? He's been wrong about everything, sold the middle class down the toilet and Time makes him Person Of The Year. They must really believe all that propaganda B.S. they printed about him. Oh! Wait I get it I forgot about corporate influence, as in Time Inc. (Time Warner), and all their Wall Street amigos. I am putting Time in a rack by my toilet, and it ain't for reading.

Lehman Bankruptcy Judge Approves $50 Million Bonuses (Update2)
By Linda Sandler

Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.’s plan to pay $50 million in bonuses to employees handling derivatives contracts was approved by a judge who said the payments provide essential incentives to employees with “unique skills.”

I wonder if they are going to give Madoff a jail bonus for his similar unique skills.

RecoverylessRecovery,

America was enamoured with Facsism in the early years, business put Hitler and Mussolini into power and attempted to create a Facsist society at home, and aided them throughout the war;

It seems what was once old has become new again. It is funny that he even beat out #3, the Chinese worker, another business hero...

For those of you here that think Obama can't hire a bunch of thugs (Cops, Private Security, Unions, ex military, current military) to beat up people who don't agree with him, check out the photos of Copenhagen United Nations thugs and Danish Politi beating up the silly protesters. This is very similar to the tactics used at their Bilderberg meeting this past year in Greece.

Dean urges defeat of emerging health care bill
AP – FILE

WASHINGTON – Former Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean argued Wednesday that the health care overhaul bill taking shape in the Senate further empowers private insurers at the expense of consumer choice.

DB, some of the craziest libs are realizing that this health care takeover is more about controlling people then helping people. Barry new this would not hurt the private insurers, the government isn't interested in providing better or cheaper healthcare. I don't understand the liberal mind so I thought you could explain it to me.

After witnessing what Goldman Sachs & Obama are doing, I'm kinda warming-up to Hitler's racial ideals too.

I canceled my subscription a year and a half ago. It was fluff anyway, but it became poisonous fluff.

Here's what everyone should do--every time you see that freakish slap-in-the-face-of-humanity TIME cover in a grocery store or book store, turn it upside down.

(Yeah, I've got a little Tyler Durden in me, heh heh.)

GBF--I'm not sure when that happened as I always shield my eyes from that trash and the NYT (I prefer the National Enquirer--it's more honest). I canceled after the MSM including TIME aided and abetted the stealing of the Dem nomination from Hillary yet continued to pile on the sexist diatribe . (You asked.)

I have no sympathy for Hillary, she cut a deal with the Barry and the DNC. I guess she got her current job if she lost the nomination and Barry got her silence on the birth certificate issue. She made her bed when she refused to go negative on Barry, same with that loser McCain.

The Future of the Fed

The debate over reconfirming Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke obscures important questions about how the central bank should act.

"She made her bed when she refused to go negative on Barry, same with that loser McCain. "

They could not go negative, even if it is true, because the Senate violated the Constitution by voting that both McCain and Obama were eligible to run. The vote was unanimous, but that decision belonged to the Supreme Court as to both their eligibilties.

If they went negative, the first thing that would come out would be why they voted for the "free pass", and the second thing to come out would be why they both felt that they had the right to make that decision, which was outside of their Constitutional boundaries...

Truth is stranger than fiction. The Senate is the real problem...

GBF, the birth certificate issue bothers me, too, but it's really just a hangnail when we have a cancer to worry about: http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2009/12/04/its-not-just-obama-its-the-system/ As Gompers pointed out--it's the system.

Yes, Gomp--hardly any winners out there to choose from, are there? That's the biggest problem.

GBF--truth be told, there are a lot of things about Hillary I don't like, too. She is an exceptional politician (and that's certainly not a compliment). I just enjoy sparring with you ;)

Gomp, I had to vote for McCain over Barry Soetoro and his Marxist agenda. The fact that you can't tell the difference between McCain’s birth and citizenship and that of Barry Soetoro’s birth (unknown) means that you are either frustratingly stupid, just thick, or my guess, both.

You didn't vote, voted for Obama, or wasted your vote. Way to go Gomp.

It seems that the only thing DB and his devotees will attack is the inanimate. It is the system, it is the two party system, it is the banksters, it is the central bank, it is blah blah blah. You don’t blame the fence, you blame the asshole that put up the fence. Placing blame on nothing but the system is perfect for the people in power because they know that they will walk away after they cause all the damage and you fools will be none the wiser. They will be richer and have more power and have even more control over your lives.

If you remove the word "you", that's a great quote (seriously). DB, Kitty & Gomp are most definitely not fools.

Gobias,
Thanks for voting to support our last banker scandal, I am sure the man who has been owned by the bankers for 30 years would truly make a difference.

No vote is ever wasted, did you ever wonder how your Fascist ideal of a one party system would work, if you were the one excluded?

The FED does not work for the government, the government works for them, follow the money. The FED represents the international banking houses.

"You don’t blame the fence, you blame the asshole that put up the fence."

The fence was put up in 1913

"Placing blame on nothing but the system is perfect for the people in power because they know that they will walk away after they cause all the damage and you fools will be none the wiser."

The system stays screwed up because of the "my party can do no wrong" crowd, not us. The fact that you still have not told me how to fix my county of all Republicans under FBI investigation is a prime example.

"McCain’s birth and citizenship and that of Barry Soetoro’s birth (unknown) means that you are either frustratingly stupid, just thick, or my guess, both."

I understand the difference, John was definatly not born on "native soil" as prescribed by the Constitution. And we do not know for sure where Obama was born. Irregardless, it was not the Senates call.

US Constitution, Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

"You didn't vote, voted for Obama, or wasted your vote. Way to go Gomp."

You know I voted, Bob Barr, the only wasted vote is a deaf, dumb, blind herd animal with shit on it's nose.

http://www.bobbarr2008.com/

For the record, I do not believe in all of his views neither.

Notice where it says Corporate contributions are prohibited at the bottom. That is a real American. Not a herd animal from either party paid for by Goldman Sachs.

http://www.washingtonyourefired.com/goldman_sachs_2008_contributions.html

Some are just cheaper than others, and yours was cheaper. But look at the bottom of the list, at all the crack whores who will do anything for a rock. Ole Barney is amazing for such a small sum, he could suck a ten pound vacuum on a onion sack. He is by far one of the cheapest assets bought.

In Gobias's "one party Democracy so we can have a majority", Gobias says;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjGWuROfm54&feature=related

"frustratingly stupid, just thick, or my guess, both. "

I find that amusing from someone who believes the Senate can free pass one, but not the other. The Senate had no right to pass either, that would belong to the Supreme Court, even though you think you are the law, capable of deciding the Constitution. I'd say your quote applies more to you than me.

"Gomp, I had to vote for McCain over Barry Soetoro and his Marxist agenda. "

There were other names on the ballot, so you can wipe the shit off your nose, besides, they had the same "save the poor, innocent, banker" agenda. You do not see the other names on a party ballot, those are designed to keep you neatly within the herds, and not have to remember who to vote for. Thinking makes a herd animals head hurt.

You still have not told me how to save my County from the elected Republican control that has swindled the taxpayers, stolen, pleading guilty, being turned inside out by the FBI, without blindly reelecting the guilty. I know, Barry did it, and you would have to support the crooks, because it is all "other herd" lies, especially the guilty pleas, and turning states evidence to seek lighter sentencing...
