Ron Paul - 'End The Stimulus NOW! Stop Wasting Money On Pretend Make-Work Government Programs'

Video - Texas Straight Talk - Government Is A Terrible Venture Capitalist - Sep. 19, 2011

Transcript

In January 2009, the administration claimed that if Congress passed a rush stimulus bill, the United States would be saved from economic catastrophe that was threatening to send unemployment figures above 8 percent. Government stimulus was the answer and if we cared about our country, we would set aside our reservations and do what needed to be done to pass the bill. Congress passed the bill. Unemployment continued to go up and has been well over 8 percent ever since. (In fact, economist John Williams of ShadowStats finds unemployment to be closer to 23 percent using traditional methodology.) Yet some are claiming the first stimulus worked and all we need to bring back prosperity is more government stimulus.

Stimulus might appear to work for some people for a short time. It worked for a short time for Solyndra. For a time, they could pretend to be engaging in productive activities that would help the economy. For a time, unemployment was 1,100 people less. But the recent bankruptcy of Solyndra shows that the government is a terrible venture capitalist. This charade cost the American people over half a billion dollars they could not afford, yet there is no mea culpa. The administration is not questioning its calculations, or how they could have been so wrong on their unemployment predictions in the wake of the last stimulus.

Instead, they want more money. Once again we are hearing the cry that if we care about our country, we will approve more spending and more taxes and that will create more jobs. They promise.

Yes, you could have gone to the Solyndra factory and you would have seen jobs. What you could not have seen were the productive jobs that were never created. Real venture capitalists make decisions based not on politics and photo opportunities, but on complex economic estimations of risk and reward. They don’t simply throw piles of other people’s money at a factory and expect magic to happen. The uncreated jobs you can’t see might still be around. Instead, we have more government debt which will lead to more inflation and more taxes. These, in addition to an already hostile regulatory environment, only add to the burden and risk of job creation in the private economy.

It has been said that when all you have is a hammer, everything is a nail. Our government is full of people who sincerely believe big government and more spending is the answer to every problem. They automatically look to government for every solution. Government is their hammer, and all they know to do is to keep hammering. When government “solutions” still don’t solve the problems, they are unfazed. They keep calling for more government, more laws, and more programs. Americans are tired of being treated like nails.

This government-centric mindset is the root of the problem. People who think this way are naturally drawn to politics and government. To them, the Constitution is an annoying road block, something to get around, or ignore.

We must become interested in real, lasting, productive jobs – careers that allow families to build up a solid foundation of prosperity and economic security – not pretend make-work government jobs that waste resources and vanish overnight. We have to choose one or the other.

So true. I can only hope people won't have to learn this lesson in the fashion I did. The certified mail, hundreds if phone calls to just too many people the didn't care how or why. It turned leaving me to writing the people who write the articles instead. I made more progress that way than going the route we all were taught. I learned more from outside soursces more than I could through any government agency.

My humble opion, we need a new tactict. What that may be, I'd like to know?

I'm not convinced that all of the subscribers to your post are as strongly biased toward Ron Paul as you are.
I find that you are exceedingly demeaning to all the other candidates and since, I have not yet formed an opinion on who would be best to oppose Barack Hussein, I find that what you are doing qualifies you as another form of Lame Street Media in helping to choose for whom we should vote. Ron Paul does have his talking points that I ascribe to, however, I'm not sure that they are convincing enough to the general population to get him elected. . . Desist please, or I will consider your posts as one-sided, promotional advertising for Ron Paul and unsubscribe .

Feel free to unsubscribe. There is no other candidate who will end the wars, battle the fed, end the bailouts, etc. And for your information, Ron Paul stories are by far the most popular on this site, with about 2.5 times the pageviews of all other stories.

Ryan Dawson's analysis and analogy of Obama's sole approach to the economic problems is like that of a moronic crack addict. The only solution to a lack of the drug, is more drug. Like paying debts 3 levels deep with credit cards. False and malicious or stupid. Take your pick.

I hope I made it clear Obama's approach to the nation's economic woes is like the self assessment of a crack addict. The solution to the problem of not having enough crack-cocaine, is more cocaine. Dawson's analysis and presentation is more properly expressed.

There is no other candidate, including Ron Paul, that can accomplish any one of those things by himself. And he especially cannot do so unless he/she can first get elected. He, like Newt, helps to move the Country in the right direction by stimulating discussion that needs to happen on the stage and in front of a huge audience. But do I think that either one of them are electable? Hmmmm. . .

"The Daily Bail
Debt & Deficits. Bailout News. Federal Reserve Corruption"
That's your site Title. . .and I liked that agenda a lot.
Maybe you should add Ron Paul's name up there in lights somewhere .
It' stands to reason why his fans have found this site. . .you've done a great PR job for him. And it is highly likely that, if you did the same thing for Newt. . .or anybody else. . .their fans would be hittin' your site as well. But, when I subscribed, I understood your initial Mission was not to be editorializing constantly about a single candidate and castigating others, but to report objectively and deeper on the various causes of our financial crises than any other site I could find. But your Mission has changed and, believe it or not, odds are you are offending more than you are attracting admirers because of your Editorial prerogative to promote Ron Paul's agenda. If I want to read any candidates propaganda, I'd rather log onto their site. We each make choices and those choices have consequences.

Stimulus begets stimulus, much of it was not spent on creating jobs at all. I saw a city bus with a sign on it proudly saying it was bought with stimulus money, after talking with the driver, it seems they worked for the city for over twenty years...

I know another town who used the money to plant trees in the middle of a street, maybe the next stimulus will be used to cut them down for blocking peoples vision...

All systems tend to a lower energy, more random state. Thermodynamics. Obama proved it. But like you pointed out, S Gompers, stimulus which draws income by sprucing up the community to make it more attractive to outside investment can be a working stimulus plan, given a minimal gamble. Even if no money shows up, life is greatly enhanced.

I would recommend getting our troops out of the middle east and prosecuting the hell out of the 9-11 perps, the ARM people, the derivative people, the hedge fund people, the idiots who did the Maconda prospect oil well blow out, the builder/designer/U.S. government licensing-approval group team from the U.S. that built the Fukushima plant, and that fool who gave Tom Delay dancing lessons. Our country has some serious problems which include letting the family monkeys break everything and crap all over the house while denying responsibility, going back several administrations. These criminals should be caged when found guilty. Which the world deserves. Given the size of the lower simian congregation around the seats of power these days, there has been few able to transcend their own lust for wealth and power to implement a useful plan. And the public manifests the same life style too often because of CFR TV indoctrination through programming. This CFR tuned group is a HUGE, but messed up, demographic. God help us. There are too many monkeys throwing poop.

Update on the 'bail-out' commentary above: The Bernanke bailed out Peugeot with a $400,000,000.00 0% interest loan to enable Peugeot. God love the French except with regard to mechanical engineering. ASE Certified mechanics could say unanimously that The Bernanke is looting the treasury. Peugeot has proved that the flame has gone out at Peugeot, not that it ever burned brightly. This 0% loan will infuse cash equity and be repaid with useless scrip. Just like the rest of the overseas bailouts. America is being recolonized, which means a hell of a lot more repos and bankruptcies for the benefit of queen lizard and the central bank, who will have it all unless the dopey shit American people stop yakking long enough to see the light.

Insantorum v. Lobobama sounds like a puppet show set before the queen. Romney looks like the guy on the underwear package. These are not reasons to vote for any position in government. Mittens Romney IS Goldman Sachs, whose silver market manipulations and derivatives MUST be treated as criminal acts orchestrated by an industry of swine, with Bush41oversight. Why America yaks up trivia or actual B.S. 24/7 instead of considering their environment emanates from mom's' four big lies that they tell their children, mormon or muslim, catholic or jew, dog or cat, rat or raccoon. Those four lies are "You are perfect. You are safe. You are pretty(or handsome). And you are smart". Boosting fascism is not an act of self-preservation, no matter HOW MUCH cocaine has been purchased with other people's money.
I just read Bill Gates was arrested for providing Bush41 with the back door to Windows 7 to enable Bush41 to skim off the top from traders. I met Bill Gates the night he was putting the University of Washington's books on computer for the first time. His father used to hang with the Senator Henry Jackson/Boeing aircraft/Richard Perle/Jack Abramoff/neocon crowd. A cult, to be sure. Turning humanity into their own personal trout farm was the outcome.

If the colonization of Europe is the intent here, I might point out a few details to enable successful colonization.
1) You do NOT infuse huge amounts of cash gold and silver to colonize. You take.
2) Just because you can not envision the Rothschilds, or the German blooded royals of England, Netherlands, and Belgium going to the bathroom does not mean they are not incredibly nasty, self-serving people. The French continue to assist in the perpetuation of our republic in the most helpful of ways.

Italy is Fiat + Chrysler post-run amok. Ferraris only last a few thousand miles, but I still want one. Such grand achievements throughout history and now this. If I could take credit for these mergers, I would apologize. Gladio in bloom. Their Vatican's Knights of Malta is the Ferrari of the sedition crowd. Soulless bastards all dressed up. I'll take a productive garden, a cutting edge space program, and a rusty Toyota over that any day.
