Re: Paul Ryan Wants Your Children to Fix His Debt Problems - Bloomberg

Strange liberals would attack him then isn't it?

Romney-Ryan would aim to overhaul Medicaid

snippet

Left-leaning advocates, meanwhile, fear that millions will lose crucial government assistance, especially in weak economic times.

"It ties the government's hands to be able to provide health care to folks in need," said Melissa Boteach, director of the Poverty to Prosperity program at the Center for American Progress.

An Urban Institute analysis of Ryan's budget proposal from last year found block grants would lead states to drop between 14 million and 27 million people from Medicaid by 2021 and cut reimbursements to health care providers by 31%.
Up to 10 million people could lose nutrition assistance since $134 billion would be cut from the program over 10 years, according to the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

And at least 62% of Ryan's $5.3 trillion in nondefense budget cuts over 10 years come from programs that serve the poor, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

"This budget is Robin Hood in reverse -- on steroids," said Robert Greenstein, the center's president, when the Ryan plan was announced. "It would likely produce the largest redistribution of income from the bottom to the top in modern U.S. history and likely increase poverty and inequality more than any other budget in recent times."

That just cracks me up they really don't understand Robin Hood

Obama sees himself as a twisted Robin Hood

snippet

After the sighs and the eye-rolling have stopped, it is worth examining the president's lame characterization of Mitt Romney's economic philosophy as "Romneyhood." Obviously President Obama sees himself as Robin Hood, and he is trying to call people's attention to that by saying Mitt Romney is the opposite.

Obama believes in the power and wisdom of the elites who run government so fully that he believes government should pick the winners and losers, regardless of people's hard work, courage in taking risks, natural intellect and perseverance. After all, according to Obama, if a serf started a successful flour mill, he didn't really build it, he didn't deserve credit for it and he shouldn't be allowed to dispose of the profits however he wants. The distribution of the mill's proceeds, including what the miller takes, should be up to Obama.

Hence Obama's belief that the top 20 percent of income earners pay too little income tax (94 percent of all individual income taxes) even though they make a fraction of that much of the total income. Would Robin Hood have believed that nearly 50 percent of those who file income tax returns should pay no income tax, and, in fact, that many of them should actually get more back from the government than they pay in? Robert of Locksley (I think Robin's real name) sought to protect the common folk from a crooked sheriff (the government) who wanted to confiscate their meager resources. The Sheriff of Nottingham was the "taker" in the Robin Hood legend. He was the government as Obama wants it to be.

what's wrong with the unemployment extension?

Ben

Nothing is wrong with the unemployment extension in my view. I didn't create the photo. It says clearly on the pic that it was created by Adam Kokesh:

As you know, I don't support either candidate, and use every opportunity to expose both Obama and Romney. Negative stories on Ryan or Romney, do NOT mean that I support Obama. Far from it, as you know.

I believe employers pick this up so taxpayers are not on the hook. However at the state level, at least where I am located, the amount of unemployment insurance each company pays out depends upon the amount of activity they have. The less yur employees use the smaller the percentage. However in my state we are short and so now most small companies I know are pretty much forced to pay the highest allowable percentage by law, which is 13.5 percent. Don't know about the large companies. I would figure them to pay a lot less percentag wise.

DB I know that just pointing things out for those who might not realize otherwise. As for the unemployment extension I'll tell Ben what's wrong with that his grandchildren will be paying for that with interest. In 2011 43 cents of every dollar spent was borrowed.

http://mercatus.org/publication/how-much-federal-spending-borrowed-every-dollar

Look at how much in taxes people already pay almost 50% of their check. Social Security is starting to cash in on what the politician's have Looted from the trust fund now that employment as fallen so badly. Social Security owned 19% of the debt in 2011 more then any other creditor dwarfing China. This year the Fed has so far monetized 61% of the debt were we any other country we would have been declared insolvent long ago but we have the world's reserve currency and it is being devalued with all the Fed's printing. Along with that comes the loss of your purchasing power. His artificially low interest rates are also hurting the prudent (the savers, the elderly). I follow all the financials like a hawk and I see the big guys already starting to talk about a revolt (to push rates higher).

I am old enough to remember the high interest rates of the early 1980's bernanke is keeping interest low now but eventually the market's will force the rate to rise and holy hell will break loose.

All the politicians like to talk about reducing the debt but no one ever really does it and people whine when they try if it's a program they want - well you can't have your cake and eat it too. Any reduction in the debt is a step in the right direction or we are doomed.

L.C. When the Fed rose the interest rates in the 80s, the South American countries took a big hit. Some of these folks, even though they had a ton of savings only got pennies on the dollar. Savings were wiped out. They nationalised the banks and took everything. Mr. Sors has indicated that he would like to see Obama do the same. I am pretty certain that he is not talking about running an end around the FED and issue debt and currency out of the Treasury ala Lincoln and Kennedy. We all know what happened to them.

LC. Here's how I look at this issue, as I agree it's tricky. Yes, we borrow 43 cents of every buck, a stat I use in stories all the time. Taxes are WAY too high and spending is even worse. But given choices in the recession, I have always advocated cutting defense spending first, before anything else.

99 weeks of unemployment is a long time, I agree. And it's not cheap to pay for. But I'm not going to complain about unemployment spending while we're blowing a trillion every year on the military.

But, ultimately, you are correct. We need to cut spending everywhere.

DB same old, same old then. We all have our personal preference's and that is the problem isn't it? That is how Congress makes deals you give me this I'll give you that and now we are Trillion's in debt. While I personally believe we should stop being the policeman of the world my personal preferences are not what matters. Until we all give up the idea of what we prefer the money to be spent on - nothing changes.

The intentionally created DEBT, along with the manufactured Panic surrounding it is a fucking contrivance. Like almost all other nonsense, this confabulated "issue" is broadly bandied around by the corporate shills and is nothing but a colossal SCAM; It is nothing more than a RUSE, a TOOL used specifically by the Republicans to distract, confuse and stupefy people. The FACT is that the monied Power Elite have been intentionally Bilking everyone down the line, by way of a massive Scheme to Defraud; and ruthlessly Plundering (i.e. extraction by Theft) all the world's natural resources; and indeed Hoarding ALL Hard Currency (MONEY), ALL Other Assets, along with significant natural resources.

The Robber Barons, the REAL RULERS, do POSSESS, ALL to themselves, upwards of 46 Trillion U.S. Dollars that they've stashed away in various TAX-FREE HAVENS. The so-called DEBT, any "shortages," are a direct result of HOARDING. Period. The Criminal-Tyrants have indeed been actively absconding all WEALTH, including U.S. citizens' Tax Dollars, for themselves.

In FACT, The entire financial system, Wall Street, the Banks, the Corporate Governors, and the entire Kleptocratic U.S. Government, is built on FRAUD; and THAT Scheme (to DEFRAUD) has been deliberately engineered by the tiny Ruling Class, the Tycoons, The Trillionaires.

These unconscionable power-mongers, specifically but not limited to the Republican Party, only seek to continue the totally disastrous, utterly ruinous policies of more Deregulation of ALL industry; The Thoroughly corrupt Privatization of all previously PUBLIC sectors; And the rest of the world can just simply DIE OFF. They don't care A WIT.

By the way, the newly-coined term "ENTITLEMENTS," are NOT "Entitlements." That is a contrived term used only just recently and nowadays to make the very programs that all U.S. citizens have PAID into for YEARS, look and seem like undeserved WELFARE. It is NOT: The FACT is that the multitudes of U.S. citizens who have diligently paid their taxes, have paid into Social Security and Medicare, for many long years, indeed deserve what they've already paid for all of their wretched lives.

So, if these government hacks want to bring up the debt, the very debt that they themselves created through their own thoroughly failed and still- failing policies over the last four decades, I propose a referendum vote:

Retract entirely and completely, every health care benefit that government HUMPS get on OUR, the TAXPAYERS, BACKS. Everyone, every last one of them, is to be included; And then, they would all have to do just as WE DO: That is, to buy flagrantly inflated, anti-American, for-Profit Health Care "Insurance" i.e. ONE OF THE BIGGEST SCAMS IN HISTORY.

But don't stop with health care benefits!! Forcibly yank every other Tax-payer funded BENEFIT, the limousines, the secret service, the endless special provisions; All of which they've grown quite accustomed and obviously feel ENTITLED...

As to AUSTERITY MEASURES, let's CUT OUT 100% of their FAT salaries and OBSCENE pensions in which we the Taxpayers pay enormous amounts to subsidize; And then, if they can no longer afford to live high on the hog, all off of OUR tax-payer dollars, Let them ROT on SKID ROW where they TRULY belong. Oh, and let them apply for "ENTITLEMENTS" only to be summarily DENIED.

Skinflint Unemployment is actually paid for by a mixture of business/state/federal money.

"Currently, there are three unemployment benefits programs. First, there are state-paid benefits. These usually last 26 weeks, and vary, depending on the state, usually averaging out to no more than a few hundred dollars per week.

When the state benefits run out, the unemployed can qualify for federally funded emergency unemployment compensation, followed, finally, by an extended benefits program, for up to 20 weeks. Some unemployment benefits, depending on the state, can run as long as 99 weeks."

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/nations-unemployment-programs-running-empty/story?id=9981941&page=2

Yes the majority of the state program's costs are initially born by the business's who pay the majority of the cost via UTF taxes to the states but the extended benefits are paid for by the federal government. Even the state/business UTF program well eventually those costs are passed on to the customers if it is a big business. Small business's really are hurt by the extended benefits especially today when business is slow and they are having a hard time just keeping their heads above water. The decision they face is pass on costs & lose customer's or absorb them. Absorbing costs like that can literally put them out of business with profit margins being so slim. There's no free lunch someone is paying for those costs. My grown daughter owns/loans a DQ and she/hubby both work over 60 hours a week each as it is now that's the other side of the story people don't think about.
