Wall Street beholden, bailout-loving, martial-law fear mongering, Hank Paulson's best friend, Paul Kanjorski was kicked out of Congress tonight.

Riding a wave of anti-incumbent fervor and voter anger, Republican Lou Barletta unseated incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski in their third face-off Tuesday night.

Kanjorski conceded defeat at 10:17 p.m. "We knew it would end, we just didn't know when," Kanjorski said in his concession speech.

Barletta criticized Kanjorski's support for the 2008 bailout of failing financial corporations and charging he is beholden to Wall Street special interests.  He charged Kanjorski is too connected to Washington and out of touch with constituents.

The Omaha Platform: Launching the Populist Party

Although historians often speak of a “Populist movement” in the 1880s, it wasn’t until 1892 that the People’s or Populist Party was formally organized. The Omaha Platform, adopted by the founding convention of the party on July 4, 1892, set out the basic tenets of the Populist movement.

Arriving back at Heathrow late on Sunday night I felt – as you do on returning to Britain these days – as if I were entering a failed state. It’s not just the Third World shabbiness which is so dispiriting. It’s the knowledge that from its surveillance cameras to its tax regime, from its (mostly) EU-inspired regulations to its whole attitude to the role of government, Britain is a country which has forgotten what it means to be free.

God how I wish I were American right now. In the US they may not have the Cairngorms, the River Wye, cream teas, University Challenge, Cotswold villages or decent curries. But they do still understand the principles of “don’t tread on me” and “live free or die.” Not all of them, obviously – otherwise a socialist like Barack Obama would never have got into power. But enough of them to understand that in the last 80 or more years – and not just in the US but throughout the Western world – government has forgotten its purpose. It has now grown so arrogant and swollen as to believe its job is to shape and improve and generally interfere with our lives. And it’s not. Government’s job is to act as our humble servant.

FYI DB,

Lou Barletta was the mayor of Hazleton, PA; the city that passed tough laws against Americans who hire and rent to illegal immigrants. It's been a never-ending court battle since then.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-09-10-pennlaw10_ST_N.htm

I can tell you, Hazleton is a very depressed city that has too many people and not enough jobs, and the low rents attracted illegals making a bad situation worse. I thought that Hazleton law was a great idea, so I'm happy for Lou.

It's not the immigrants I have a problem with. It's the way they are exploited and how that exploitation devalues American workers. And I detest the way we selectively enforce our laws in this undeclared class war.

Oh and F- you, Kanjorski. You could have exposed Paulson for the lying thief he is, and instead you defended his lies.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

DB and the Devotees…

I imagine that you are busy writing a piece on how upset you are about Obama’s press conference today. I know DB, you don’t care about it.

Obama kept saying that progress will be made on things “we can agree on” going forward. He didn’t say, it is time for me to compromise and it is time for me to change course. He doesn’t get it.

Obama didn’t say that Obamacare was rejected. What he did say is that the free market system is what made and makes this country great. I guess he doesn’t connect the two, weird huh. He doesn’t get it.

Obama didn’t mention (nor did the left wing stooges asking questions) that the American people rejected TARP and wants big business to pay for their failure instead of being rewarded for their failures. He doesn’t get it.

Obama didn’t talk about investigating the immense corruption on Wall Street and in big business. He didn’t mention the failures of his economic team and the outright theft of the Fed. He doesn’t get it.

Obama didn’t talk about terrorism once. He didn’t talk about how he has literally bowed down to radical Islam. He doesn’t get it.

Obama didn’t explain why he has not stopped the gargantuan spending of his own administration. He didn’t talk about his own in your face extravagances like his wife’s fancy trip to Spain, his lavish vacations and his upcoming $200 million a day trip to Indonesia and India. He doesn’t get it.

Obama didn’t come to the press conference with his birth certificate and credentials tapped to his forehead. He doesn’t realize that most people see him as an empty suit with little to no experience. He is in over his head and he doesn’t get it. Lt. Col. Lakin be damned.

Obama didn’t fess up to his own arrogance. He has spit in the face of the American people and trampled on a government process that doesn’t take to dictators and socialism. He doesn’t get it.

I could go on and on and on but what is the point in this forum. I didn’t even touch his failures with homeland security and the wars. He is not the only one that doesn’t get it.

Sorry, I wrote that so fast that I probably made more mistakes but here is a correction...

Obama didn’t come to the press conference with his birth certificate and credentials taped to his forehead. He doesn’t realize that most people see him as an empty suit with little to no experience. He is in over his head and he doesn’t get it. Lt. Col. Lakin be damned.

I listened to his press conference on the radio so I don't have a link. It was more in the bubble Obama crap for sure. Not worth watching as he never answered the big questions because he didn't get them. Maybe he will go on a real news program so that he can be interviewed by someone who is willing to ask the tough question and not sit back and listen to him pontificate over the softball questions that he loves.

Let's see if anyone has the guts now to ask for an audit of the Fed. Maybe Michele Bachmann will make an attempt. For the guy or gal that does uncover the Fed's misplaced loyalties, there is a chair in the oval office for him or her.

Gobie,

Some TARPinista's got re elected, while some more got elected for the first time, or moved to other positions. Better follow the AG elections as well, banks were trying to buy those positions as well to get the heat off of them.

I am afraid Ohio will be pulling out of the fight.

At least Kanjorsky tells the truth about Congress. What he doesn't say is that he represents the "people" (corporations) who give him the most money and not the people who can't pay $600 a week for energy costs.

The Banksters paid for Congressional support from the beginning.
Nov 3, 2010 at 4:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterJames Street
"What he doesn't say is that he represents the "people" (corporations)"

The corporations are now living, breathing, people, thanks to the Sublime Court decision that corporations had the same rights as people in financing elections, etc., moving them one step closer to overt ownership of elected officials.

Imagine a day when politicians will wear the brands of their corporate owners like NASCAR drivers...

There are potential "built-in" revolts against the corporatization of America. The first built-in revolt comes from the fact that most American corporations are multinational and therefore their employees are not American citizens and the second is that only about 30% of Americans work for large corporations in the first place.

If you factor in the percentage who are doormen, cleaning ladies and the like, it makes the true rank and file organization man far less than 1 out of 4 Americans.

History has shown a slow but inevitable march against hereditary elites. We are now in a backwater, of course but the trend will continue.

Don't forget that the French and even American Revolution, the English Revolution and many other social earthquakes came out of the blue.

Virtually no one predicted them but looking backwards they always seemed inevitable.

And after the fact, most people claimed to be secretly fighting for the winning side. After World War II millions of Germans pretended to be fighting secretly against Hitler and most Frenchmen claimed to be part of the resistance against the Nazi occupation even though the facts are otherwise.

Trust history and glance at the front page now and then just to laugh or wince at the king's propaganda machine.

We could immediately bring the unemployment rate in this country to near zero if we round-up and deport the 25 million illegal aliens who are stealing our jobs and social services!
Nov 4, 2010 at 6:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterGene
Who do you think is hiring most those 25 million illegals?
Almost all big corporations who, yes Virginia, control the government with their big money bribes and corruption.
If they didn't control government, the will of the people would have been done about fifty years ago, or 150 years ago when it really got started (Irish and Chinese.)
It's a long story.
History moves forward and backwards in convulsions. If you don't believe it, try reading almost any history book and you will find out.
