I'm still looking for footage, but at the end of this report, the reporter says that Frank also took lots of heat over the bailouts and over the Fanni/Freddie Fiasco. Yeah, green shoots!

"No, In effect by not releasing at least enough of the requested documents to show that he has nothing to hide he is providing a diversion to focus on anything but his corporate masters at Goldman Sachs,......"

That is a personally speculative point of argument. And in applying speculative reverse logic all other diversions are to focus on anything but the birth controversy.

The premise of this 'birth controversy' on the other hand is factual verification of documentation. That's all it is.

This report says Barney Frank "took only a few questions" on the bailouts, but there's no footage. Wonder why he wouldn't want to talk about that?

Very good thread people.

I'll let you in on a secret, I will not vote for Obama again if Paulson is still a free man in 2012.

"That is a personally speculative point of argument. And in applying speculative reverse logic all other diversions are to focus on anything but the birth controversy."

That explains why the MSM, including John Steward and Lou Dobbs, is covering everything else I mentioned and not getting hung up on trivial diversion like the "birth controversy". [/sarcasm]

Would Yeahsure happen to be an alias for Benjamin Bernanke, Timothy Geithner, or Rahm Emanuel? Welcome to the site. May you live long and be successful in your efforts to continue promoting the carnival. Perhaps Steve can hand over the reigns to you for this blog.

The federal deficit this year will total $1.58 trillion, a senior White House official said late Wednesday. That's three times more red ink than last year. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the report before its release next Tuesday while President Barack Obama will be on vacation in Massachusetts.

Yes you did. Gobias' persistent wining about the birth certificate and Where's Obama game paid off. You fell for the trap. Just recognize it and move on. I highly recommenced you keep these posts focused moving forward and avoid getting distracted. Unless it specific relates to the bailouts or Washington capture, that means no more Obamba birth certificate and no more Palin.

Spidey. That's about the 4th message of this type you've left and I've avoided confronting you because we get along. But you're wrong here.

I was not goaded into anything by Gobias. This birther clip was posted on the Huffington Post which is where I found it. I gladly put it up because it made me laugh. And I have no regrets. I agree with MArk McHugh that it has created some excellent discussion.

I don't give into pressure. I post the clips that I come across...sometimes it just flows a certain way.

And seriously, with due respect, it's not your place, either, to dictate what I should cover. Sarah Palin will always be a target on this site and if she continues making news then I will trash her at every opportunity. And I'll enjoy it. Especially now that Rand Paul is on the Republican scene for comparison.

We're allowed to veer off-course occasionally. It provides variety.

And this discussion has been a good opportunity for those who feel like me, to express to others who disagree, that the entire birth certificate issue, is in our view, a loser for everyone.

So trust that I know what I'm doing, and that my decisions are not influenced by others. I'll take care of the content going forward as I've done since day one, no dictates needed from either side.

Steve, like Gobias, this is indeed not my place either and I have never had the position to dictate what you should cover. However, the same frustrations that we all have regarding CNBC and MSNBC and what they choose to cover applies to yourself as well. Rather than continuing to view you like a Dylan Ratigan, I am now tremendously disappointed. I don't even feel like participating anymore.

"So trust that I know what I'm doing, and that my decisions are not influenced by others. I'll take care of the content going forward as I've done since day one, no dictates needed from either side."

The momentum you have with focus on the bailouts is regularly lost with posts that have absolutely nothing to do with bailouts and seem more like belittling, and pandering,. It doesn't even feel like you are the same guy as the fireplug that started this blog earlier this year, the main reason I became a regular commenter, because I could get behind your message and passion. And I have always been a lurker up until this blog, which originally resonating so strongly with me that I just had to participate.

But this blog has become increasingly like a personal RSS feed aggregator that covers anything you fancy and a jumble - the "variety" you mention. You have always been free to do with your blog as you wish, but if this is the direction you are taking, I'll pass. I can find the majority of these posts at other site aggregators that are able to maintain their focus just as well, or at thedailyshow.com, colbertnation.com, theonion.com, cnbc.com, msnbc.msn.com, bloomberg.com or huffingtonpost.com directly. You add some great insight and have an excellent way with words, but I am too frustrated to continue as a regular. I will still check out what your are up to from time to time, but this will be my last comment as a regular. Back into the cuckoo clock I go. That, or a padded room in straitjacket.

Keep up the great work. I'll miss you James H, Ain't Bullshitin', S. Gompers, Sell Short, mark mchugh, and Sonic Ninja Kitty.

Spidey,

I hope you'll continue to post here, your insights are truly appreciated.

I share your frustration with the blogosphere in general, and agree that what makes DB unique is that "keep your eye on the ball" approach. But I also know what it's like to sweat blood to write unique content and have less than 25 people take the time to read it. So there's something to be said for variety, keeping discussions going and increasing your audience.

Spidey,

Liberals are honest and true to their word or so I hear. I trust that you will leave and never look back. If you can’t run with the big dogs without felling unhappy, better that you stay on the porch. If you do decide to stay, which you will, please try to buck up, cowboy. I am happy to help you through this tough time as I am sure we all are. Is it your inability to focus or your sensitive feelings? Is it the French in you that doesn’t like the American in me? I would suggest that you remember that tolerance and diversity are the building blocks to our great socialist utopia. Until Obama has complete control and sends people like me (the intellectual elites and enemies of state) to build another road of bones, we must all keep our eyes on the prize. The questions I ask will impact your psyche but resist, vive le resitance! It is only going to get worse for Obama and his cronies. This will all lead to another Iranian hostage crisis that will send Obama back to Chicago to lick his wounds or the constitutional laws will catch up to Barry and give him an adjoining cell with Bernie Madoff. His lies are treasonous. God speed Spidey!!!

@ Gobias.

Your post above to Spidey is completely out of line. I want to remove it but yet I want him and others to see it for it's childishness. Why must you always push people's buttons? You have become a negative influence, not because of your politics but because of your personality.

It's not pleasant or attractive to pick on others. Spidey feels so strongly about the injustice of the bailouts and political capture that it upsets him when we veer off course. I can respect that type of focus and passion.

What I don't respect are the personal attacks that you use in order to gain a rise out of others.

"The Daily Show clip on the Birthers was just one piece of comedy. I had NO IDEA it would get a response."

If you wonder why this stirred things up it's probably due to the original title: 'OBAMA BIRTH CERTIFICATE CONTROVERSY FINALLY LAID TO REST'

The 'finally laid to rest' part sounded just a tad politically-biased on a financial blog is one hunch.
Aug 20, 2009 at 3:17 PM | Unregistered CommenterYeahsure
Yeahsure.

It hurts the opponents of any aspect of Obama's policies, because we all get lumped into the category by potential association.

And for the last time, I honestly thought it would put the issue to rest. I assumed it was iron-clad proof. I did not know that the newspaper announcement was disputed.

And I will amend one of my earlier statements.

Now I am starting to regret having posted this clip. Our anti-partisan, anti-bailout coalition can fracture easily when we stray into politics.

Daily,

SERIOUSLY, your site is so bent to the left you can’t see where it begins and where it ends. Hey, I don’t cry over the attacks I hit back – Just Words (an Obama reference for you). I am just another student of Saul Alinsky (you say emotional bs, I say rules for radicals or the new rules for republicans) -- you should take a look at the rules.

For example…RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid."

Okay, I will stop the political hardball but you want him to strike back? Daily, really…like lambs to the slaughter. You need to shepherd your sheep not feed them to the wolves. I accept that your site is liberal dogma and I enjoy it. I don’t control the content as you so aptly pointed out to our friend. Sorry that I broke his glass menagerie.

Let’s debate properly…

PALIN (Gobias): Nice to meet you.
BIDEN: It's a pleasure.
PALIN (Gobias): Hey, can I call you Joe?
BIDEN: (OFF-MIKE)
PALIN: Thank you.
And my favorite quote from the debate…
PALIN: Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future.
Daily, doggone it, let’s look ahead. Let them eat cake!

Gobias.

Not sure where to start, so I won't.

I support Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Peter Schiff, Alan Grayson and Brad Sherman. See if you can find order in that group. This site occasionally upsets liberals as well as conservatives. We must be doing something right.

OR perhaps something wrong. I really shouldn't be upsetting anyone as we attempt to build a fractured coalition from both sides.

@ Gobius

At least you will sleep safe at night in the INTERNMENT/RESETTLEMENT OPERATIONS CAMPS Bush built for you to stay in while you build your road of bones for your Chinese Masters to pay off the debt that the Republicans sold to them for you, so your taxes wouldn’t increase.

You call yourself a Constitutional scholar ( like Barry), yet all I see from you is Banker Manifesto dribble. And don’t even pretend to be the intellectual elite, or enemy of the state, as you ARE completely in line with Karl Marx.

The first 20 years of my adult life were about self sacrifice motherfucker, and I was lucky to see my own children a month or two each year. But I am still married to the same woman, and now we are grandparents twice. Yet you stand in self righteousness and cast the lib word at people that even belong to your own party, (not me by the way, as I said, way more dangerous than a lib, and you by the way, you are way left of me) and it is easy to see, if you would stop beating off about how great you perceive yourself to be.

Spidey is a way better man than you could ever hope to be, even though we disagree on a few issues. The best part of you ran down your father’s leg.

I was taught to hate Socialism, and to recognize all its forms. We have been advancing Fabian Socialism in this nation for over 80 years, regardless of which candidate won the election. You speak of the Christian right with such fondness yet you all only wave your Bibles, if you would actually read them you would know the error of your political beliefs.

You are a waste of oxygen, and you are definitely one of Henry Kissinger’s (R) “useless eaters,” As to your jab about French, the only Frenchman is you, as everyone knows the French fight with their mouth, and fuck with their face.

So if they are not feeding you well at the camp, and you see men coming by on their way to fight your Chinese banker elite masters, just make a dick sucker face so I will know it is you, and I’ll throw you some food. Lord knows, I wouldn’t want you to get weak while you work off your debt to your new Masters.

By the way, I have Saul's book to, he's a wuss. It is still way bigger than this.

@ Spidey

I read your most recent comments carefully. I try to do the best job of educating, promoting awareness and entertaining that I possibly can. It's a difficult balance.

I have done 2 Sarah Palin posts out of 650 stories. One was directly related to the bailouts. In fact it was SP talking to Couric about TARP. The other was William Shatner interpreting the tweets of Palin which I thought was hilarious.

And I have done 1 story out of 650 on the birth-certificate controversy. And ironically it was an attempt to end the controversy. Since I don't follow the issue I assumed the Newspaper clip was new information.

It got to the point where I had to respond to your criticism, and so I did. BUT I'm not upset with you in any way, I just wanted to make myself clear. I'm ready to move on.

One of the big problems of written discourse is it's easy to MISUNDERSTAND the tone of what someone else is saying. I mis-read the tone of your original criticism and took it as though you were dictating when you were merely suggesting. I'll admit that to this day I have a problem with authority figures telling me what to do.

And I think it's possible that you slightly mis-read my tone in response. I was not angry with you though it may have sounded that way.

I will consider it a personal failure to lose one of the best minds on this site.

Peace among men, and especially among friends, as you and I are.

Friends have disagreements occasionally, and this was our first.

That's not bad for 7 months of trudging through the fields of hell together.

The hatchet is so well-buried I've already forgotten it was there.

Where I live, we don't have wolves. But many times the coyotes die at 1000 yards. I wish we had wolves, as they are much bigger targets, I could hit them at 1500 yards easy.

True story:

The first time somebody called me an idiot on a blog, I didn't sleep (I mean not one wink) all night long. Now? HA! Merely calling me an idiot elicits yawns. Rhinos should have skin so thick.....and it turns out, not only do I enjoy occasional bouts of verbal abuse, I am incredibly good at them! Just make sure you really are a big dog before you snarl at me....

Anyway, I began my writing career (if that's what you call something you don't get paid for) at Seekingalpha. When they first added a comments section, before "report abuse" got added, it was like an old west bar room brawl. The comments section was more fun (and informative) than the articles themselves. I got a few black eyes and dished a few out, too.

Then, it got weird....a sub-culture evolved at the site. These douche-bags that obviously didn't read or didn't understand the articles, just started using the comments section to shill their own views. I would call them out on what they were doing (usually with a few choice words), and guess what happened? My comments were taken down and eventually, my account was deleted (although I can't seem to get off their contributor email list). The shills are still there, and the SA comments section is a pathetic sissy-fest.

I think what made this thread heat up was SNK and Gompers trading jabs. I like and respect them both and it was entertaining the way they exchanged blows. Coming under attack forces you to tighten up your reasoning. They both did a nice job and I would expect no hard feelings between them.

Gobias got a laugh from me when he wrote:
"Mark, yes, you libs were quiet as church mice about Dubya's first term. Oh, sorry about the God reference." Hopefully we'll spare another time (when we disagree about something I actually give a rat's ass about), and comedy will ensue. Being Irish, fighting with your siblings is just acceptable, it's expected...

DB, you're doing a great job here.....Gobias, you should know when to ease up......and Spidey, come out and brawl once in a while.

(I should probably mention I had surgery yesterday and am pretty doped-up right now)
