House Republican leaders have missed a 36-hour deadline President Obama set during a Thursday meeting for lawmakers to give him a plan to avert a national default.

The deadline came and went Saturday morning without a response from House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

@TR...i would bet it's another false warning...i've been reading that an Israeli attack on Iran was imminent for 2 1/2 years...not saying it won't happen, just doubting anyone's attempt at putting a fixed date on it...

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — President Barack Obama will on Monday name his choice to lead the new financial watchdog body, but to the dismay of many consumer advocates it won’t be Elizabeth Warren.

Warren, the driving force behind the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, was bypassed in favor of former Ohio attorney general Richard Cordray. He is currently head of the agency’s enforcement division.

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — People buying homes in the country’s most expensive housing markets will face pricier mortgages starting in the fall.

That’s when the current conforming mortgage limits are scheduled to expire, with limits for the most expensive markets falling to $625,500 from $729,750 in the contiguous U.S. (Keep in mind that Congress may decide to keep the higher loan limits. Read more about how lawmakers on Friday introduced a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would do just that.)

Barack Obama to give any type of "deadline" is pure BS. This President has had 2 yrs. of the Bush admin. with total control and 2 years of his own admin. to get this done and now he wants a "deadline". What a nutcase who panders to the public! Here is part of the problem and it is the democrats in Congress who are lost: Explain this!

To all veterans/seniors with 401k plans:

Democrats want to bankrupt America by their "continued spending". If the debt ceiling bill is not passed the markets will go haywire. Seniors, veterans and everyone who has a 401k plan will take a "hit". To protect your 401K plans until a deal can be reached since Obama said he will not sign a short term deal you need to put ALL of your 401K investment in the "Income Funds" offered, drawing simple interest and stay away from all of the mututal funds. Please do this now!

Please forward this message to everyone you know. Protect your investments! You can rearrange your funds "after" any deal is reached but for now you need to do this!

Barack Obama says there is no money for social security for seniors and no money for disabled veterans but he can send our tax dollars overseas to rebuild mosques in countries who don't even like America. Thank you Mr. President !
