Obama Gave Gen. Petraeus's Wife A Job Paying $187,000 Year

The Obama administration named Holly Petraeus--wife of retired Gen. David Patraeus, who resigned last week as CIA director after revealing he had had an extramarital affair--to a $187,605-per-yer job in the newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CFPB, created by the Dodd-Frank law, was placed by that law under the umbrella of the Federal Reserve. The funding of the CFBP, which comes from the Federal Reserve, is not subject to congressional oversight.

Mrs. Petraeus became a member of the CFPB Implementation Team on Jan. 12, 2011. She is now the assistant director for the Office of Servicemember Affairs. Her position pays an annual salary of $187,605, according to the communications office of the bureau.

The communications office also confirmed to CNSNews.com that Mrs. Petraeus’ post at the bureau did not require Senate confirmation.

On Jan. 6, 2011, Elizabeth Warren, then assistant to the president and special advisor to the secretary of the treasury for the CFPB (and now senator-elect from Massachusetts), posted a blog about Mrs. Petraeus’ new job on the White House website.

“In her role at the new agency, Holly will continue her work to strengthen consumer financial protection for service members,” Warren wrote. “The Office of Servicemember Affairs will work in partnership with the Department of Defense to help ensure that: military families receive the financial education they need to make the best financial decisions for them; complaints and questions from military families are monitored and responded to; and federal and state agencies coordinate their activities to improve consumer protection measures for military families.”

On Nov. 3, 2011, Mrs. Petraeus testified before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. In her introductory remarks she detailed her qualifications for addressing financial issues faced be member of the military.

“In my role as a military family member, I have seen the problems that can arise for our service members who may experience ‘too much month and not enough money,’” Mrs. Petraeus said in her prepared testimony. “I have also seen first-hand the devastating impact financial scams and predatory lending can have on service members and their families. Unfortunately there are still too many young troops learning about wise spending through hard experience and years of paying off expensive debt.”

If the idiots who run our govt dont put a tax on the rich, we are going to be in a world of hurt. Imagine the Repubs want to eliminate the mortgage deduction in lieu of taxing people that have more money than the average joe, not because the average joe is lazy, but some just have more opportunity and "luck" than others. Get the Repubs to go along with the overwhelming majority mandate that Obama got and fix this mess.

So let me get this straigh. The CFPB is under that watchful eye that we call the Federal Reserve. That has to be some sort of inside joke. Am I the only one not part of this conspiracy? That pissed off woman was right on the Kanjorski phone call, the government should have cut every us citizen a check sent them out.

This is sickening - I am so tired of government handing out cushy jobs that are mostly - made up to just give out more taxpayer money to favored people. As a 5 star general Petraeus is making close to $1 million dollars so why should Obama hand his wife a job paying $187,000 a year? This is wrong and should be investigated! Just what does she do to earn $4,000 a week? Most of us are struggling to pay the rent. This is just rotten!

All nepotism should be illegal within the government. A conflict of interest also should be notable in our entire government administration including the House and Congress. People should not stand for this any more than continued families staying within government over and over due to their "connections"!
And since our President basically invested almost 2 years spending money campaigning for the next election, the American people should demand Presidents only can serve ONE term. This last election on the people's money, with the flitting Prez around the country campaigning and fund raising was ridiculous. Time to make this illegal Now! One term...period.

His wifes new job is a thank you from BO for taking the fall...They got caught taking that guy over there and 3 Americans out becouse he wouldent go along with the gun running going on. Made the vidio to throw us off and blame the attac on the vidio. That got found out, so the next thing was to place blame on Petraeus. He wont be doing what he was doing, but you can bet he will be doing a great job from behind the black curtian........

They take from us what they want and ram an unknown bill of who knows what at us and tell us this is going to be the greatest thing.
