If this is socialism, it has to be about the crappiest version of it.

I appreciate this post, however. Perhaps I will show it to my mother at our annual Christmas everyone-drank-a-bit-to-much political fight in which she insists that we are the "Freest and best country in the world"... (she also thinks there were WMDs in Iraq... yeah it's a lost cause).

"We're (not) #1"

Yep, greed, an unbelievably corrupt government, citizens who are uneducated, overweight, uninformed, and apathetic about everything but their addiction to couch potato sports,TV fantasy-land and all the steel, chrome, and plastic crap that out of control capitalist marketing has convinced them they absolutely can't live without.

From the greatest nation on earth to a decadent mess in 50 years. Great job American People, your doing something our enemies never came close to accomplishing. Your destroying the United States of America.

Amerika needs to wake up for sure - we need to enhance our military - education and health care continue to drain the coffers of the government - hopefully Congress will reduce these non-essential costs with greater investments in bases and more troops to battle the war on terror and freedom. If we huddle together in prayer maybe we can be as successful as our warrior Presidents have been on the war on drugs.

U really gotta' laugh @ the 'Sweden is #1 democracy' krap =)) I mean, really WTF is the point of reading N E of this nonsense if they get it so wrong? Sweden is 'political correctness gone mad'. It is a brutally opressive anti-male SUICIDE culture enforced with iron fist dyke dictates from the top down. There is NO freedom of speech, unless 2 bash men & family & religion. Dare say even something as obvious as the fact that Pallestinians R human beings & your fellow idiot retard Swedes will bomb U & murder U, as U can clearly C from current events! =)

Well said Lokis and Sage.

@Honesty...the rankings are certainly not perfect but they do point out how far we've fallen in a general sense.

How about corresponding charts of corruption in government, including bribing/lobbying of gov't officials and bodies by corporations; and the relative wealth of the lower, middle, and ruling classes?

@Mike...

I work on this blog alone 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. I do what I can. Are you volunteering to help. Why don't you provide some of those charts here in links. I've got about 50 videos to watch and approximately 100 stories to read before morning, plus 60 or so emails from today and about 25 comments to read and respond to.

@Honesty - Well you're certainly a case where education has failed, if your communication skills are anything to go by. I literally couldn't decipher half of what you typed. Get off the Internet and go back to school.

"B" , You represent a total lack of perception. Before you hack down others, I would make sure my ship is not listing to the port side. (that means STFU)

I agree with B, I didn't understand a thing she was saying.We can tell that the Democracy rating is falling fast, since 72% of Americans are against the cuts for Social Security, Food Stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, etc but yet the GOP is against them. The same people are for doing away with the Bush tax cuts on the rich. The fact that Bradley Manning is in Leavenworth Federal Prison and has yet to be charged, and also the US has failed to allow the UN rep to visit him privately. The US wants to imprison Julian Assange from WiliLeaks, Freedom of the Press is at a new low and going lower. Florida's corruption is rampant, They've cut funds for Medicare & Medicaid in the state and given contracts to Scott's healthcare friends. Scott ran a company which was found guilty of Medicare fraud, I'm sure the people of the state are sorry they elected a SOB. The suicide rates will go up much higher especially among gay teens with the Religious Right taking over School Boards. While they claim it's a sin, the Bible also says it's a sin to wear two different fabrics at the same time. So I'll guess that 100% of American women who wear a bra sin too.(unless they also wear latex blouses and pants. There are many other things that are sins too. That I know they are guilty of too.
The Religious Right doesn't believe in Science and it's only going to get worse..
