Dylan Ratigan: Break Up The Insurance Monopoly And Get Rid Of Employer-Based Health Care
Ratigan On Breaking The Health Care Insurance Monopoly -- Aired November 10
This is not a call for a public option, rather an end to state insurance monopolies and the anti-trust exemption that the industry enjoys.
The practice started during World War II as a result of fierce competition for a shrunken workforce and it continues today. It's antiquated and economically destructive as certain segments of the labor force remain working only for healthcare benefits as they await eligibility for Medicare, often for years and occasionally for decades, thereby keeping younger workers more relatively underemployed, during what should be their peak years of productivity. It's an issue we will face more often in the years ahead as competition rises for employment of all types. I doubt U6 will ever measure south of 10% in the U.S. again, and that means we will increasingly be looking to creative solutions to make it easier for willing older workers to retire early. Removing the employer-based healthcare structure and granting earlier eligibility for Medicare is one solution, though an overall de-coupling of the practice is greatly preferred.
Another outstanding clip that puts you ahead of the government and your employer in making the healthcare decisions that are best for you alone. Runs 5 short minutes.

October 15th UPDATE: As the failure of the bailouts continues, along with the failure of our elected officials in Washington, we look to our States as the “governance of last recourse” to restore the American System of Hamiltonian CREDIT among the Sovereign United States.
Khavari for Governor of Florida - visit website.
As of October, 2009, we finally have an advocate for the Sovereign State Solution, now running for governor of the State. This development was the objective of our petitions and letters, posted here before. Now we urge readers to visit Khavari’s website and consider very carefully his proposed plan for economic security, as IT IS THE EXACT PLAN and IDEOLOGY that we have espoused here on this page for nearly a year.
To have a 2010 candidate for Florida Governor who embodies the exact forumula for success we have advocated is more than we could hope for. But hope we did, and our faith in representative government was answered. Farid Khavari’s campaign will spread the word across Florida and hopefully, perhaps even to Capital Hill.
This is a great day for Florida, and America. We hope you will consider the merits of the Khavari plan, and help to spread the word among your own State, and within your communities sphere of influence.

If you think about it from a purely legislative standpoint, why should the state EVER be allowed to control what a person does with her/his body? A woman should be free to choose her own beliefs regarding the separateness/individuality of the potential life inside her, but no one should dictate and force beliefs on her. (And the father should not dictate what the woman does either. He should make his viewpoints clear and take his business elsewhere if he doesn't agree with the terms before the transaction takes place, if you know what I mean.) I have even seen libertarians discussing an individual's rights to sell her/his body parts (kidneys, lungs, skin). If you put aside from the huge ick factor you can see it in a state vs individual rights light.
Our rulers love this issue because it gets people whipped up into a crisis mode. They always use a good crisis to their advantage. I'm really getting the hang of this game.
What about the baby, would he or she want to live? Isn't the baby a part of that "transaction"? Is that the individual that is most affected?
Why potential life? If left to God or time (if you don't believe), that potential life would be what in nine months?
The woman is free to choose, she can close her legs if she doesn't want to choose life or the chance for life.
ken...been following the indymedia story...very strange...
Ken...the florida story...the candidate for governor who supports state-owned banks...it's a good story but the guy won't win the race for gov....hopefully the issue itself can get some traction however...
James...agreed...simply an outstanding clip from Ratigan...why are we being left out of the decision making process...?
And don't be so silly as to think God cannot control what life He wants created on this earth. He's all powerful. He doesn't need to depend squat on humans to get what He wants. And humans can't create or destroy souls, either--only God has that power. It's apostatical to think otherwise.
This is an issue of control. The State, or some church, or some insurance company, or some individual who thinks s/he is smarter or more moral or better than everyone else wants to tell tens of millions of women how to treat their bodies based on their own reasoning, disregarding their right to think and reason for themselves. Didn't you ever read A Handmaiden's Tale? Might as well install a computer chip in their necks while you're at it.
It takes more than one person to let the "birds" fly for obvious reasons (whack jobs gaining control). The football the President carries can only authorize a nuclear attack. If you are looking for red buttons as you have stated before, those are called e-stops (emergency stop buttons).
I bet one nuke on anybody would kill more babies than most abortion doctors.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Book of Gobias, 1:1
"Thou shalt melt children and babies to the sidewalk, because it is different."
Book of Gobias, 1:2
"No, I will push the e-stop. "
Book of Gobias, 1:3
Is this part of that new conservative Bible they are writing, where Jesus is a banker, and the poor will not be fed, and gleaning the fields is good, and usury is good?
Burning of children is considered a offering of the innocent to the Old Testement G-d Molech.
God said through Moses, "And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord" (Leviticus 18:21). "Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones" (Leviticus 20:2).
Good one James...
