Chrysler (Fiat) CEO Tells CNN: "U.S.Taxpayers Are Getting A Phenomenal Deal By Losing ONLY $1.3 Billion On Bailout"

Video - Chrysler (FIAT) CEO speaks with CNN

What a smug bastard.  Short clip that is definitely worth watching.  Read all about it at CNN.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- U.S. taxpayers likely lost $1.3 billion in the government bailout of Chrysler, the Treasury Department announced Thursday.

The government recently sold its remaining 6% stake in the company to Italian automaker Fiat. It wrapped up the 2009 bailout that was part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program six years early.

I have been an ASE certified mechanic for 15 years. I have owned up to 6 Fiat cars at one time and worked on engines from Mercedes Benz to Isuzu. I t is a joy assisting in the friendly, helpful efficient service provided by cars like Toyotas and Hondas. The earlier-day efficiency of the 1970 Ford E-150 Econoline, huge interior with very few parts which never cost more than a couple dollars. All wonderous things. but I never remember even cracking a smile on a Fiat since the 1961 Bianchina or while working on anything Chrysler since they junked the slant-6.

Italy is welcome to both. I know the Fix It Again Tonys will know what to do with Chrysler. I hope they realize their dream. Chryslers are the Sarah Palin of the automotive world. The rent-a-car places around here use them alot. Complete with aloha seat covers.

You have to remember the govt is in business to LOSE money. That's why we're bankrupt. The govt(taxpayer) is the real lender of last resort, especially if there's a loss involved. Did you see Wall Street jump at the chance of losing $1.3 billion? Nope. You see, Wall Street makes the big bucks by loaning to the federales because the feds don't owe it back. The taxpayer does. Slick racket eh? show more show less
