Can Obama Use The 14th Amendment And Raise The Debt Ceiling Alone? Hell No Says Judge Napolitano

Video - Judge Andrew Napolitano - July 25, 2011

Solid discussion.  Runs approximately 2 minutes.

---

What's missing from the debt-ceiling discussion, albeit nothing new to DB readers, is spending on wars and the pentagon.  It's not even being mentioned as a possibility in any of the competing debt plans, despite the following undeniably depressing and disgusting facts:

From Reddit:

I thought this kind of puts things in perspective.  In 2010, the US government collected $898 billion in federal income tax revenues.  The same year, we spent $847 billion on useless wars and national defense.  That means that 94% of all federal income tax revenue is equivalent to what we spend on the Pentagon.  Who out there thinks it was money well spent?

Also, just to piss you off a little bit more - defense spending is equivalent to 443% of what we collect in total corporate taxes.

One more link you need to see:

It's all in this link:

WAKE UP AMERICA! - The Real U.S. Budget Problem: Defense & War Spending Equal 94% Of All Federal Income Tax Revenues

"S&P, Moody’s feeling ratings rage"

They should be feeling complete rejection of their services. Their incompetent, possibly corrupt performance leading up to the economic collapse proves they are a useless money sucking failure.

For what it is worth (approximately nothing), the Fourteenth Amendment was not legally passed. No need to go into details here, but if you doubt what I say, do a quick google on the subject and come to your own decision on the matter. I have never met ANYONE who had researched the subject of the 14th and still thought that it was legal.

However, speaking more broadly, the US Constitution is a dead letter anyway. All those people in Arlington Cemetery who "died that the Constitution might live"? Died for nothing. Sorry, that is the fact. The Constitution has not been obeyed for a looooong time now, and anyone who thinks that it is a restraint on the government, is in a fantasy. They are living in a Third Grader's candy dream.

Whether you like it or not, that is the fact. Deal with it.

Another piece of information regarding the Constitution is that it was written in such a way that it can be and according to so many, ever changing. That is was designed to be so. Perhaps that alone is a key problem? It's interpretation, or better said, manipulation of it in the every arena where it applies.

That said instead of it being manhandled by the powerful few who have obviously abused it, maybe it's time to get back to the basics. That is why I'm backing Ron Paul. I believe he is one who is not only well aware of this problem but that the fundamentals of it need to be resurrected in order to stop this anarchy that is global.

Just my humble opinion when I say this. I pray daily that the very heart of it returns to America so that power to the people is restored. Listening to the so called experts for me only point out the obvious. That there is too much to be argued regarding the Constitution which obviously needs to be restored. If that is accomplished perhaps we who are on the same page may thank President Obama for in the end as well as the "wrong doers" in Congress who by their actions have brought so awareness to so many people who normally would not care and allow this to continue.

Again just humble thoughts from one person. I don't presume to argue with a Judge or anyone else held in high regard regardless of their actions. I think it's time to address what is right as a whole and better for American citizen's and eliminate what's wrong for the many reasons that were and are brutally heartless for such unnecessary reasons.

The best to all and thanks to DB.
