That Reince Priebus and Ari Fleischer are throwing in behind Trump is probably what it looks like -- GOP insiders are making peace with Trump.

However, even pledged delegates can abstain on the first ballot. In that case, the nominee would only have to get a majority of delegates WHO VOTE, but depending on the math, it might be possible to deny Trump a majority on the first ballot.

At which point... all of these GOP insiders would just be shocked and chagrinned before the "will of the people" or whatever.

I'm not saying this will happen, but I would bet you a donut that somebody in the GOP leadership is at least game-planning such a scenario.

Ultimately, though, I think Trump's overwhelming popularity and momentum will steamroll the remaining opposition to him. If he loses the nomination on the convention floor, however, Cleveland will be a riot.

Someone else came up with this, but you can't spell "Reince" without RNC.

Going further take out all the vowels and you get:

RNC PR BS

I agree with you on all points. There is a potential for shenanigans, but the hell that would be unleashed if they try to deny Trump at this point would be hard to contain. I think they will fall in line. Even Bill Kristol is accepting his fate this morning, He has called the end of Trump aprroximately 25 times since last August.
