'Big Old Federal Government' Song By Phil King & WhiteCollar Woody

Nice little song about our not-so-little federal government performed by Austin, Texas guitarist-songwriter Phil King of the Flattcar Rattlers with original lyrics by WhiteCollar Woody.

Pass It Along

The lyrics are excellent.  And scroll down for a couple of cartoons.

One evening as the market closed and the Dow Jones was diving
Down the Street came a banker hiking and he said boys I'm not thriving
I'm headin for a land down south with a very tall white monument
So come with me we'll go and see the Big Ol Fedral Government

In the Big Ol Fedral Government there's a place that's rich and bright
Where the handouts grow with earmarks and ya sleep sound every night
Where a crisis is never wasted and both parties make their hay
On the left and the right the scumbags fight
Where the lobbyists spring for whatever they need
In the Big Ol Fedral Government

In the Big Ol Fedral Government the SEC is blind as bats
And the cash cow keeps producin like rabbits out of hats
The president makes good speeches and the press corps plays along
Oh, I'm bound to go where theres lots of dough
Where reality dont show and the congressmen blow
In the Big Ol Fedral Government

In the Big Ol Fedral Government they dont always pay their tax
Cuz our ever growing tax code for them is too complex
The reglar folks have to scrimp and scrape and do long overtime
If there's a war or two and a will to screw
You can raise their taxes til they all turn blue
In the Big Ol Fedral Government

In the Big Ol Fedral Government a budgets made for fun
And you can get a pile of money then come back for a bigger sum
There ain't no energy policy, no oversight that sticks
I'm a goin to stay where you talk all day
Where they hung the jerk that invented work
In the Big Ol Fedral Government

Man, I liked that. Like old Pete Seeger. (You know, if Pete Seeger weren't a Communist.)

You gotta love Pete Seeger. I really enjoyed this song as well. Never heard of WhiteCollar Woody but they're great lyrics. And Phil King dings it well.

James and others?

Do you like the videos on side? The arrangement is still up in the air for my side panel but just the concept of having videos there is what I'm debating. I hate that the 'most recent comments' tracker keeps sliding down further on the panel.

I need to figure out where to put it higher up I think? Does it provide any utility to you as a reader? The comments Widget?

I like the videos on the side. However, I think the RSS, Email, Twitter, and Contact should be in the header as they seem buried at the side. Actually, I would suggest making the icons smaller and leaving them above the first horizontal rule. You could mirror this in a footer. The section headings at the right side should also all link to their respective pages, sqworl or otherwise. If crawl becomes an issues, you can always just put the sections in frames that can be navigated by vertical scroll bars or move to a three column layout. Just my 2 cents.

@Dailybail

The first horizontal rule is the line under your header navigation - "Home" through "Contact Us"

Couldn't find your email.

Can you help me a little bit on site design. We could do it over the phone and I will give you a login and we can adjust things while we're talking. The publishing platform the site is built upon is Squarespace. It's an extremely easy system for adding and moving things..

So shoot me an email when you read this.

thanks.
