CBS’s Super Bowl telecast of the Baltimore Ravens’ 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers, interrupted for 34 minutes by a power failure, drew a smaller audience than the last two record championship games. The four-hour contest at the Superdome in New Orleans averaged 108.4 million viewers, New York-based CBS said today in a statement, citing Nielsen data. The figures exclude the half- hour delay when play stopped and commercials didn’t air.

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Liberty Global Inc. is poised to make a bid for U.K. cable-television and telephone firm Virgin Media Inc. with an offer that could have an enterprise value of more than $20 billion, the Financial Times reported Tuesday. A bid could be announced in the next few days, according to the report, which cited several people familiar with the situation. A deal has not been finalized, the report stated.
