Bailout News Video MSNBC: Keith Olbermann And Obama Love

I'm a fan of Keith Olbermann, the ESPN anchor.  I realize that he left Craig Kilborn and Dan Patrick and the corporate Nazis at ESPN long ago, but I will never forget what he brought to the genre.  "Robert Parrish gets some extra elevation on that jumper.  Some might even say he got high."  A reference to Parrish getting busted for marijuana sent to his house in a FedEx box.  I still believe Olbermann to be the best pure writer of sports or news anywhere on any network.  And I will always remember watching his first-ever anchor-cast on ESPN with Bobby Firenze as we sat frozen and speechless.

It's very difficult to describe other than to say TV sportswriting was changed in that moment and by that 1 guy, especially now that the Olbermann writing and thinking style has been adopted by so many journalists.

Olbermann loves Obama dearly.  It's hard to see through his fog of passion sometimes, so I don't watch him anymore.  My issue with Keith is his blindness to the truth if said truth in any way interferes with his thesis that Obama is god.

Is it not possible to support and criticize at the same time?

In this 3-minute tirade against the power of banksters in Washington as a political class, Keith points fingers at Goldman Sachs and Henry Paulson.

Yet he does not chastise Tim Geithner, the least qualified and most-highly conflicted Treasury Secretary of the modern era, except perhaps for Paulson.  The only possible explanation is Obama love.

Keith, wake up.  You are still the greatest, the Sportsinator if you will, but currently you suck.

Olbermann needs to get off his fixation with the Messaih and start doing his job. Thank you for saying this.

Yeah, I feel the same way about Olbermann as political commentator (I don't watch sports) - he was great at Bush-bashing, but when it became non-stop McCain-bashing and Obama-worship I had to stop watching him. Also he's way to the left on gun control, managing to completely garble the plain text of the 2nd amendment.

Olbermann was great but he's completely biased and one sided these days. I appreciate a passionate argument but he's turned into the left wing version of Rush Limbaugh.

Where is the objectivity?

The best TV personalities are those willing to appreciate both sides of the equation. Then again, MSNBC is beginning to balance the right wing nature of CNBC these days.

Too right about Mr. O. He does seem to have his head stuck right up his self important ass, at least where President Obama is concerned. Geithner is precisely the same sort of creature that Paulson was, he just doesn't happen to have been gestated by GS. No, instead, Tax Cheatin' Timmy is the creation of Citicorp erstwhile board member Robert Rubin, arguably, next to Alan Greenspan, the single most important figure responsible for the nation's mortally wounded big banking system. There are no Democrats or Republicans in this tragic drama so much as there are a generational class of corrupt politicians (of which Obama belongs-if only for a relatively brief period of time) who have presided over, nay fostered, fiscal and financial depravity. If you really want to speak truth to power, Keith, take your head out of your ass and start leveling your selectively fierce gaze on team Obama, particularly the would be financial wizards named Summers and Geithner.

Herr Olbermann is a complete tool/stooge for the Obama admin. He is as bad or worse than Limbaugh, not only in terms of his lack of objectivity, but also in terms of his annoying bombastic over-the-top style. Seriously Olbermann, calm down. If you rage every day for every segment it has no impact.

Olbermann is a tool.

I hate his sportscasting too.

Nice post Zack.

I am curious if Keith understands how obvious his affection for Barack has become. One would think he might consider toning it down just a bit.
