Arlo Guthrie LIVE: I'm Changing My Name To Fannie Mae
GREAT LIVE PERFORMANCE
Performed at Farm Aid
---
Ralph Nader on cutting corporate welfare:
"Corporate welfare-the enormous and myriad subsidies, bailouts, giveaways, tax loopholes, debt revocations, loan guarantees, discounted insurance and other benefits conferred by government on business-is a function of political corruption. Corporate welfare programs siphon funds from appropriate public investments, subsidize companies ripping minerals from federal lands, enable pharmaceutical companies to gouge consumers, perpetuate anti-competitive oligopolistic markets, injure our national security, and weaken our democracy."
Lyrics by Tom Paxton
Oh the price of gold is rising out of sight
And the dollar is in sorry shape tonight
What the dollar used to get us now won’t buy a head of lettuce
No the economic forecast isn’t right
But amidst the clouds I spot a shining ray
I can even glimpse a new and better way
And I’ve devised a plan of action worked it down to the last fraction
And I’m going into action here today
CHORUS:
I am changing my name to Fannie Mae
I am going down to Washington D.C.
I’ll be glad they got my back
‘Cause what they did for Freddie Mac
Will be perfectly acceptable to me
I am changing my name to Fannie Mae
I am headed for that great receiving line
So when they hand a trillion grand out
I’ll be standing with my hand out
I’ll get mine
When my creditors are screaming for their dough
I’ll be proud to tell them all where they can go
They won’t have to scream and holler
They’ll be paid to the last dollar
Where the endless streams of money seem to flow
I’ll be glad to tell them all what they can do
It’s a matter of a simple form or two
It’s not just remuneration it’s a liberal education
Ain’t you kind of glad that I’m in debt to you
CHORUS
Since the first amphibians crawled out of the slime (of the slime!)
We’ve been struggling in an unrelenting climb
We were hardly up and walking before money started talking
And it’s sad that failure is an awful crime
It’s been that way for a millennium or two
But now it seems that there’s a different point of view
If you’re a corporate titanic and your failure is gigantic
Down in Congress there’s a safety net for you

"My guest will be John Titus, the producer of the documentary film "Bailout".
"Fed up with corrupt "bail-out" banks five Chicagoans drive to Vegas with stacks of cash to give themselves a long-overdue bailout of their own! Along the way the discover first hand how hard the foreclosure crisis is on American people."
(The program will be archived, so you can listen anytime)
Are you doing the interview?
Hey John, nope it won't be me doing the interview. The girl's name is Senka
and she immigrated here from eastern Europe (Bosnia? I can't remember). She
really is an interesting gal (she's seen a lot and now loves America) so the
show should be fun. I responded to Steve but my comment must be jammed or
something. I also forwarded the link to Senka so maybe she'll pop in and
respond. She's had George Babcock, Will Galison, and a few other cool guest.
Glenn Russell going on soon too. Maybe Steve will even pick it up...not
sure.
I hope that you will be able to join us tomorrow or share the link with others. John and I will be discussing also the latest settlement - this time with LPS and how to respond to all of this injustice.
I've started my blogtalk radio program (Foreclosure Fraud and Its Survivors) in October of 2012 and was able to gain the audience nationwide. People are sharing their stories, and I also have lawyers and other players who are familiar with the impact that this financial fraud has on our lives. The most important aspect of this weekly program is that many can realize that they're not alone in this mess and that there are people/their friends out there ready to listen and help...
