George Foreman knocks out heavyweight champion Joe Frazier.
On Jan. 22, 1973, 29-0 Joe Frazier was the favorite against the upstart George Foreman but it quickly became apparent that Foreman was the dominant boxer. Howard Cosell had the call and there was no better announcer at capturing the sheer excitement of boxing. When Foreman knocked down Frazier just 2 minutes into the first round Cosell erupted with the now-famous line "Down goes Frazier!" Foreman would knock Frazier down twice more in the round and three more times in the second before the fight was stopped.
