DICAPRIO GOES FULL MANBEARPIG IN OSCAR SPEECH

Environmentally Aware Leo Flies 8,000 Miles To Prove He's A Hypocritical Dumb Ass

One month after he told the United Nations that "our planet cannot be saved, unless we leave fossil fuels in the ground, where they belong," Leonardo DiCaprio was flying across the Atlantic on gas-guzzling private jets to pick up an environmental award in NYC this week, then flying straight back to France on another private jet for a model-packed fund-raiser a night later.

Environmental analyst Robert Rapier tells Page Six that Leo's movie-star lifestyle which includes charter planes and private yachts 'diminishes his moral authority to lecture others on reducing their own carbon emissions.'

"He demonstrates exactly why our consumption of fossil fuels continues to grow. It’s because everyone loves the combination of cost and convenience they offer. Alternatives usually require sacrifice of one form or another. Everybody says, 'I've got a good reason for consuming what I consume' . . . It’s the exact same rationalization for billions of people."

According to The New York Times, air travel is an 'egregious environmental sin' — the worst one committed by most members of society. A round-trip, commercial flight from New York to San Francisco creates about three tons of carbon dioxide per passenger, the Times estimates, and those three tons equal about 15 percent of the annual warming effect registered by a typical American. The Times does not delve into the increased carbon dioxide per passenger caused by private jets, or huge yachts.
